Chapter 518:.

I planned to move in this afternoon. Once back at the villa, I called Derek to tell him I was moving in.

There was silence on the other end of the line. Moments later, he said, “I’m sorry, but I can’t help you. I’m a little busy at the moment.”

I paused briefly before saying, “I don’t need your help. I don’t have that much stuff and I have no intention of taking anything that doesn’t belong to me.”

“Take the nannies with you. I won’t need them because I’m going to be living alone from now on,” he told me.

In fact, I intended to take the nannies with me, because they were already close to my children. If I hired new nannies, my children would have to take some time to familiarize themselves with the new ones.

So, I took my personal belongings with me, including my children and their nannies. When I left, Alvaro arrived. Thanks to his help, I was able to settle into the new house quite easily.

I was pleasantly surprised that the apartment was quite large. So I asked Tina to move in with me and her daughter. If she decided to live with me, she would have one more roommate. Tina was surprised by my suggestion.

“Eveline, you and Derek were so good together, why did you end up getting divorced?”. The reason was very complicated.

“We both felt we were drifting apart, so we decided to call it quits,” I said flatly.

The next day, I saw news about Derek on the front page of the Sousen Evening News. Derek, president of Dere International, was dating a gorgeous woman.

In the photo, he was walking into a hotel with his arm around the woman’s waist. Was he holding back because we were married?

That’s why he had become so hedonistic right after becoming single again, wasn’t it?

Annoyed, I put down the paper and rubbed my temples wearily. Now that Derek was a free man, what he did, who he chose to be with and who he fell in love with had nothing to do with me. He could marry if he wanted to, but it would still have nothing to do with me.

Even so, I still felt heartbroken about it.

I wanted Ady to start a new life, but she insisted on working for me. I must admit she was a good woman. I couldn’t bring myself to turn her down, so I had to let her do what she wanted.

A week later, Megan came to hand me an invitation card. It turned out she was going to marry Eric. I was surprised that they decided to get married so soon. But all things considered, it wasn’t that surprising.

After all, Derek and I, as well as Louise and Layne, also had a whirlwind marriage.

“Don’t forget to ask Mr. Sullivan to be your plus one at my wedding,” Megan commented, winking at me.

My heart flipped at the sound of his name. “He and I are divorced.”

“Are you kidding?” Megan couldn’t believe what she was hearing.

“I’m not kidding. I’m telling the truth,” I said with a straight face.

The smile on her face disappeared. After a moment’s thought, she said, “Actually, I saw the news about him today. But I didn’t want to believe it. But…it doesn’t matter. There’s nothing to be sad about, Eveline. Are you worried that you’ll never replace a good man again?”

I gave her a bitter smile and said, “To be honest, even if there are good men, I’m not sure I want to be with anyone anymore. I’m sick of falling in love and getting my heart broken in the end. I don’t want to get married again for the rest of my life.”

Megan patted me on the shoulder to comfort me.

“I understand how you feel, Eveline. It just happened. After some time, you’ll be in a better mood. You have to come to my wedding though, okay?”. I knew that even if I didn’t come with Derek, he would attend the wedding.

After all, the groom was one of his best friends. Truth be told, I would rather not be at this wedding, but I had no good reason to refuse.

So, I had to accept, I never thought we would see each other again so soon. I told myself I shouldn’t do anything foolish just to avoid him.

Considering that we were both businessmen based in Sousen, I knew I couldn’t hide from him. I had to learn to face everything bravely.

On the day of Megan’s wedding, the sun was shining brightly. It was rare for the weather to be nice those days. That day, I wore my makeup and put my hair up.

Eric and Megan’s wedding was to be held at a suburban wine country mansion, designed specifically to host weddings. There was a large meadow outside the mansion, and that’s where the wedding venue was set up.

When I arrived, there were already many guests. I looked around, unconsciously searching for something. Neither Derek nor Aaron were around, so they probably hadn’t arrived yet. So I stopped looking around and walked into the mansion.

Megan was already dressed as a bride and the makeup artist had already done her makeup. Eric saw me as soon as I walked in and greeted me. His formal attire today, he looked gorgeous.

“Where’s Derek, why hasn’t he come yet?” he asked.

It seemed he didn’t know that Derek and I were already divorced.

Perhaps not to make me feel humiliated, Megan was quick to say, “Why don’t you go out and take a look? The guests may have already arrived.” After nodding, Eric turned and left.

The window in this room overlooked the wedding venue outside, and from where we were we could see everything clearly.

“Derek!” I heard Eric’s voice from outside. Unconsciously, I looked over and my heart skipped a beat.
