Back to Love: A New Beginning -
Chapter 61
Chapter 61:.
Vivien had told me that they were having their wedding on August 8, but now I found out that the date had been changed to August 15. I was very surprised to learn this. Perhaps it was because she had been affected by my words on that day and had consulted an astrologer. What surprised me even more was the fact that Derek’s grandfather knew Vivien’s father.
Later that evening, Derek told me that his grandfather was the director of Wonder Hospital. Since they were from the same camp, it made sense that he knew Leroy.
The next day, we said goodbye to Derek’s grandfather and returned to Sousen.
After leading a leisurely life for almost a week, I was still determined to replace a job.
It turned out that Derek was on his way to the hospital to get the bandage off his wound, so I accompanied him.
We went to Wonder Hospital together. Once the gauze was removed, we planned to leave. However, as I passed through the hospital lobby, I noticed a recruitment ad on the big screen. It turned out that Wonder Hospital was looking for a switchboard operator. “Do you want to be a switchboard operator?” asked Derek.
Although I had never worked as a switchboard operator, I loved that the workplace was a hospital, and that being a switchboard operator here required the applicant to have basic nursing and first aid skills. At the very least, I was qualified for the position.
I had been looking for a job for many days and was losing confidence. It wasn’t easy to replace an ideal job.
“Maybe I can give it a try. I don’t mind being a switchboard operator. But what about you, do you mind having a wife who’s just a switchboard operator?”
Derek pulled out a pack of cigarettes, but soon realized we were in a hospital, so he handed it back and pinched my cheek.
“Not even a little bit. In my eyes, there is no one job better than another. Grandpa was the director of this hospital. He may be retired, but he still has some prestige. You want me to…”
“No!” I already knew what he was going to say, so I interrupted him before he could finish the sentence.
“I don’t want to get a job just because of personal connections. If I have to rely on connections to be a telephone operator, it just shows how pathetic I am.”
Derek smiled at me, “Sure, I’ll wait for you in the car.”

I hadn’t expected the interview to be so easy. Maybe I had an advantage because of all my work experience. After all, I had already been a nurse. The head of the human resources department decided to hire me on the spot and asked if I could start work tomorrow.
As I left the hospital, I soon found Derek’s car. Through the windshield, I saw that he was talking on the phone. As soon as I opened the car door, he had already put the phone aside.
Perhaps because of the joy on my face, he kept looking at me. “So, did you get the job?”
I was really over the moon. “Yes! I finally got a job of my own!” Suddenly something occurred to me and I stared at him with a stiff smile.
“Wait a minute. You didn’t say anything to the hospital’s human resources department, did you?”
Derek took a puff on his cigarette, started the car and laughed. “Don’t you have any confidence in yourself?”
Judging by how calm he was, it seemed he wasn’t using his connections to help me.
Soon I was sitting upright and in a good mood.
After a while, my stomach began to growl. I looked at it in embarrassment and said, “I’m hungry.”
Derek put out the cigarette and turned the steering wheel with his other hand.
“Your loving husband will buy you lunch.”
I wanted to tell him it would be better to go home and cook for ourselves to save money, but he insisted on taking me to the restaurant on the third floor of the Blue Sky building. Little did I know that here I would meet an acquaintance.
There was a man and a woman sitting at another table near us. They were sitting face to face with their hands clasped as they gazed lovingly into each other’s eyes.
The woman was Louise’s stepmother. Louise had once pointed her out in public to show me who she was. I knew her, but she didn’t know me.
Obviously, the young man sitting across from her was not Louise’s father.
Another dramatic love story was unfolding before my eyes.
“Do you know them?” asked Derek when he realized I had been looking at the couple.
I hastened to look away. “No.” Louise’s father had divorced her mother because of this woman. To my surprise, this woman had a toy boy on her back.
Suddenly, my phone rang. It was Louise’s. What a coincidence!
If she found out about this, she would surely lose her temper and cause a commotion. So I decided not to tell her for the time being. However, I didn’t expect her to offer to come here when she found out I was having dinner at Blue Sky. He told me it was just a few minutes away from the place.
It was then that I knew I could no longer hide what I had discovered here.
Fortunately, Louise’s stepmother and the young man had left before Louise arrived.
Sooner or later, I needed to tell Louise about this, but I had to replace a suitable time to tell her.
On the other side of the window, twilight was approaching and soon the street lights came on.
When Louise arrived, she was wearing wide black and white striped pants, a tight-fitting sleeveless V-neck T-shirt, looking powerful and capable.
She had asked me to invite her over the phone, but now that she was here, she told me she had already had dinner. It turned out she was joking earlier.
Afterwards, we went to the bar on the second floor.
The latest fight here didn’t seem to affect the bar’s business. Night had just fallen and more and more people were coming into the bar.
Suddenly, I noticed Felix sitting in a booth with two sexy girls in his arms.
