Chapter 208 Questioning

The night was deep, and all was silent,

The soft lighting in the hospital room couldn’t hide the deep tranquility.

The night outside the window was like a deep blue curtain, covering the entire city.

Only the occasional car lights weakly penetrated through the gaps in the curtains, casting scattered glimmers.

In the hospital room, everything seemed exceptionally quiet, as if event time had paused at this moment.

Benson lay in his hospital bed, his handsome face looking particularly pale under the dim light.

He appeared weak, yet his eyes were filled with tenderness and. determination.

On the sickbed, his posture was extremely shrunken, clearly a sign of discomfort, but his gaze couldn’t hide his deep affection and persistence for Yvonne.

Yvonne stood by the bed, her hair hanging loosely over her shoulders, as if she had just gotten up from bed.

Her face was without makeup, and the mole on her nose stood out under the light.

She slightly lowered her head, her vulnerable posture sharply contrasting with her usual calm demeanor.

At this moment, she looked both lonely and in need of comfort, as if Benson was the only person in the world who could understand her

feelings.

“William came today and mocked me,” Benson said, his voice carrying a trace of fatigue but filled with deep affection. “He said I’ve been running. for three years and still ended up in your hands. Women like you are my

fatal weakness.”

Hearing these words, Yvonne couldn’t help but smile. Her smile contained a mix of helplessness and a faint hint of mockery

“Benson, you’re really a negotiation expert,” she said as she slowly sat down by the bed, feeling the invisible pressure.

Benson was adept at using his advantages and her weaknesses.

He knew she was soft–hearted, and she indeed felt his deep affection.

If it weren’t for her understanding of him, she might have believed his words. She felt somewhat powerless but couldn’t completely let go of her inner turmoil.

“Go to sleep early,” Yvonne said softly, her voice filled with a hint of fatigue and concern.

It was already late, and she didn’t want to go back and forth anymore, preferring to make do on the sofa in the hospital room for the night.

She arranged the blanket on the sofa, preparing to rest there.

The lights gradually dimmed, leaving only the faint sound of breathing and the occasional ticking of the machines in the room.

Benson rested his head on his arm and sighed deeply.

His gaze remained fixed on Yvonne, who had curled up on the sofa, her eyes tightly closed, clearly exhausted.

At that moment, her posture looked particularly fragile and dependent.

Benson knew his body was weak, but he still endured the discomfort and quietly got out of bed.

He stood by the sofa, looking at Yvonne’s slightly curled figure, his heart filled with complex emotions.

Her sleeping posture wasn’t very comfortable, but she slept peacefully despite the unease, which made him feel a bit guilty and heartbroken.

He gently lifted her, though he didn’t have much strength, he carefully

placed her on the hospital bed.

His movements were exceptionally gentle, as if afraid to wake her.

After laying her down, he slowly lay beside her, feeling the warmth from her body.

Despite the minimal comfort it provided in his weakened state, it brought him a bit of solace.

He looked at her sleeping face, his heart filled with complicated emotions.

For the first time, he intensely desired a woman, yet he was trapped in such a situation.

However, giving up was never an option for him. The word “surrender” had. never appeared in Benson’s dictionary.

In the following days, Benson cooperated well with his treatment in the hospital.

He knew that during this period, Yvonne faced many work challenges, and if he caused trouble, it would ruin his prospects.

He understood that Yvonne was doing her best to handle the temporary store closure, communicating with the brand, and the company was in chaos.

When Benson received his discharge notice, Yvonne’s reply was very brief, simply telling him to take good care of himself.

These days, Yvonne had been working at Caesar Plaza, overwhelmed with work.

Her life was filled with busyness and stress, and even she had to admit. that her feelings for Benson had been suppressed, no longer as evident as before.

Megan told her that two days ago, Mr. Benson had left for a business trip, leaving only a few words–Mexico.

Yvonne felt a wave of confusion. Olivia and Steven lived in Mexico, and she knew a bit about their situation.

But Benson’s Trip to Mexico puzzled he

She was eager to know the progress but didn’t disturb Benson.

Despite Benson’s indifference and even some tactics of self–pity, she could see that it was all a strategy; he hadn’t truly let go.

His changing attitude left her feeling helpless, but she decided to wait for the results and focus on her work.

Every day, she worked with the chief designer at Caesar Plaza, striving to ensure the company’s restructuring went smoothly.

Two weeks later, Victoria needed to undergo a minor surgery.

The surgery date had long been set, but due to previous arguments, Victoria hadn’t informed Benson.

Yvonne sent Benson a message about the surgery, but he didn’t reply.

This fact made her deeply realize that in Benson’s heart, she could never compare to his most important person.

Though she had once felt heartache for him and had hopes for his

affection, it now seemed somewhat laughable.

His actions caused her pain, but she had long recognized that their feelings could never return to the past.

She realized she didn’t regret any of her choices,

Every decision was what she had wanted most at the time.

Now, she could only choose to keep moving forward and face future. challenges.

-Mexico

In the cold weather, Benson walked through thick snow into a cozy café.

The café’s warmth spread, with a few warm decorations on the walls and wooden tables and chairs emitting a faint woody fragrance.

A lush green plant in the corner thrived, despite the cold outside, making

the cafe a warm haven.

Olivia saw Benson enter, her eyes lighting up with eagerness.

Her gaze was filled with anticipation and hope, clearly very concerned

about news of another man.

“Is the information accurate? Did Steven tell the truth? Is he there?” she asked, her voice tinged with nervousness and unease.

Benson looked at her calmly, his deep eyes revealing a hint of inquiry.

His heart was already at peace, unmoved by Olivia’s emotions.

Facing her urgency, he felt a strange calmness.

He thought that if Yvonne were here, seeing Olivia’s expression, she might be emotional, but he himself remained unshaken.

“I’ve been to the place you mentioned, but he’s not there. I only promised to bring you back, replaceing him has nothing to do with me,” Benson said, his voice steady and calm. He had stayed long enough to no longer have

emotional fluctuations.

Olivia, however, retorted unwillingly, “No, that man is very much related to

you.”

Benson’s brow furrowed, clearly puzzled and confused by her words. What do you mean? Who is that person?

Olivia took a deep breath, thinking for a moment, then finally uttered the

person’s name.

“What?” Benson’s face showed extreme shock, “How can it be him?”

His shock was undeniable, needing time to process everything.

His eyes flashed with sharp light as he stared at Olivia, “Olivia, did you forget everything except our time together? You didn’t forget Yvonne or what happened in Las Vegas, but you forgot our time?”

Olivia’s face turned anxious, her heart starting to tremble violently.

She knew she might have revealed some secrets.

208 Questioning

A wave of panic surged in her heart, unsure how to face Benson’s questioning.
