Chapter 224 Compromise and Flattery

Benson was proud, and he couldn’t tolerate the fact that after so long, his efforts to please and compromise had gone entirely unacknowledged.

Even though he knew deep down that William was right.

Yvonne had been neglected by him for three whole years, but he couldn’t do what she had done–waiting and hoping without complaint.

Yvonne looked up at Benson, and he still as handsome as the day they first met.

But now, the stern aura surrounding him made it clear that his patience had reached its limit.

Perhaps he was blaming her too. She was supposed to play dumb, but she hadn’t been foolish enough, and now she had upset him.

She didn’t offer any explanation, maybe because she had expected this. She knew he wouldn’t hold out for long.

Because he didn’t love her enough.

Benson’s figure slowly disappeared down the hotel corridor, each step echoing with a steady rhythm, as if announcing the firmness of his decision.

The lights along the corridor cast long shadows, making Benson’s figure appear lonely in the interplay of light and shadow.

Yvonne stood there, watching his figure grow more distant, her heart filled with a swirl of complex

emotions.

A hint of helplessness and fatigue flickered in her eyes, as if his departure had taken away all her hope

and reliance.

She turned silently and walked back to the hospital room.

The walls of the corridor reflected her silhouette, the white walls appearing especially cold under her

slow, soft footsteps, each step feeling as though it pressed down on her heart.

The door to the hospital room closed gently behind her, the interior still maintaining that characteristic quiet of hospital rooms.

The air was thick with the scent of antiseptic and a subtle undercurrent of anxiety.

Bella lav in

the hospital bed, her cheeks and forehead wrapped in bandages, looking a bit disheveled.

Her expression showed signs of worry, and as soon as she saw Yvonne return, she anxiously asked, ” What’s going on?”

Yvonne walked to the bedside and pulled out an apple, deftly peeling it.

Her movements were slow and careful, as if she were trying to soothe her own inner restlessness through this simple task

The peeling process was smooth and natural, and the scent of the apple filled the air.

She handed the peeled apple to Bella, a faint, forced smile on her face, but her eyes betrayed deep exhaustion.

“Steven wants to talk to Benson.” Her voice was calm but tinged with a hint of helplessness.

Bella rolled her eyes, clearly displeased with Benson’s actions.

Her voice was filled with confusion and resentment.

“Jeremy has his eyes on you, and he just ignores it? Someone asks to talk, and he leaves you to go running?”

Yvonne sighed lightly and sat down in the chair next to the bed, her fingers gently stroking the surface of the apple

“It seems like he always knows how to handle you, and this tactic never fails.

Bella’s voice carried a tone of teasing mixed with frustration, as if she had long grown accustomed to this exasperating situation.

Yvonne nodded, her gaze turning somewhat distant.

“I know.” There was a trace of terness in her voice.

From the moment she tried to retrieve the brooch, Benson had thoroughly figured out her psychology, and now Olivia was no different.

His methods weren’t subtle; in fact, they were crude and blatant, but she had no choice but to endure.

Apart from feeling anger and helplessness, there didn’t seem to be any other way out.

“I just hope Olivia comes back soon.”

Yvonne’s voice held a mix of longing and helplessness.

“I’m still too dependent on him, always being held back by these things.”

Her eyes revealed a hint of confusion, as if she were deeply frustrated with her current predicament.

She had once thought about going to see Olivia, to ask her why she had suddenly changed her mind

about the divorce.

However, given the complicated situation in Mexico and Steven’s identity, she didn’t dare to act recklessly.

She feared that her interference would only make things worse and that she might end up in an even more passive position.

So, she had no choice but to rely on Benson’s help, even though it filled her with unease.

Bella looked at Yvonne and suddenly laughed.

Her smile carried a hint of mockery and irony, as if she were poking fun at the complexity of this relationship.

“Miss Yvonne is quite skilled now, getting Mr. Benson to help while keeping him at a distance. Isn’t that just like begging someone, saying, ‘I need you for something“?”

“Whose side are you on?” Yvonne frowned slightly, clearly confused by Bella’s words.

“Me? Of course, I’m on your side.”

Bella’s voice was firm.

“He’s disappointed people time and again, and I no longer trust him.

Before, in the company, he gave you some great advice.

He even helped you deal with those old board members, and now, thanks to his help, Eurasia Jewelry is back in your hands.

Ceramiques And Flattery

But look at the situation now–I hope you reconsider Master Benson’s Intentions.”

Yvonne’s gaze lingered on Bella for a moment, her expression thoughtful.

She knew that Benson was a deeply calculating person, hard to read whether his actions were sincere or manipulative.

As night fell, the hospital grew quieter. Yvonne decided to stay at the hospital to accompany Bella, her mood growing heavier.

Suddenly, the door to the room creaked open, startling both of them.

Andrew appeared in the doorway, his gaze sweeping over Bella.

When he saw the scrapes on her cheeks and forehead, her bandaged head looking battered, his expression showed a mix of surprise and concern, his brows furrowing as if worried about her injuries.

Bella was also taken aback, clearly not expecting Andrew to show up.

She tilted her head slightly, a complicated emotion flickering in her eyes, as if she were trying to decipher what Andrew’s arrival meant.

Yvonne stood up, giving Andrew and Bella some space

“You two should talk.” Her voice was gentle and calm, then she walked out of the room and into the hospital’s lounge area.

The lounge was spacious and quiet, with the deep night atmosphere permeating the air.

Yvonne stood by the window, looking out through the glass at the distant city lights shining brightly in the darkness.

The night outside was deep, with dew glistening faintly on the windowsill,

She gripped the railing by the window, feeling the coolness of the metal, which helped steady her weary body.

Her fingers tightened around the railing, as if holding on would keep her from falling into an abyss of darkness.

Footsteps approached, and Yvonne lifted her gaze, seeing a familiar figure reflected in the glass.

A man with long strides and a graceful demeanor.

Jeremy’s face was still as handsome as ever, his suit impeccably tailored, his posture upright, making him stand out even in a crowd.

His demeanor was refined and elegant, with an almost irresistible allure. Despite this, his arrival filled Yvonne with a heavy, indescribable feeling. Yvonne didn’t turn around, pretending not to notice Jeremy’s approach. Her heart churned with complex emotions, unable to remain calm.

She kept her gaze fixed on the distant night, trying to keep herself from being distracted by the scene unfolding behind her.

Jeremy’s figure gradually came into focus in her line of sight.
