Chapter 254 Intertwined Fates

Yvonne didn’t immediately answer Benson. Her gaze settled on the snowball tree behind him.

The white flowers covered the branches like snow, silently mocking her

situation.

Benson’s voice was heartbreakingly gentle.

“The things we didn’t do together before, we need to finish. And the things we want to do now, we should do together.”

His words felt like a blade, piercing straight into her heart.

“That’s what you want, not what I want,” she replied coldly.

Benson’s expression faltered slightly, but he maintained his gentleness, as if convinced that time would heal the rift between them.

Yvonne remained silent for a moment, feeling a wave of helplessness wash over her. She spoke with an icy tone, “Benson, do you really think that just because you don’t want a divorce, I won’t be able to leave you?”

Her words exploded like a thunderclap between them, the atmosphere instantly thickening with tension.

Benson’s eyes reflected a mix of contemplation and hesitation.

He didn’t respond immediately, but his silence revealed his thoughts. His gaze was firm, as if silently telling her that he believed as long as he persisted, she wouldn’t be able to divorce him.

No matter how much she resisted, she currently lacked the power to challenge. him.

A surge of anger flared up inside Yvonne once more, reigniting the fire she had struggled to suppress. She felt a sharp pain in her chest, realizing that this man, with his suffocating determination, was pushing her to the edge.

Unable to contain her rage any longer, she abruptly stood up and began to hit him, her fists landing heavily on his chest, each strike filled with all her pent–up frustration and anger..

Benson didn’t fight back, nor did he resist, He simply stood there, silently enduring her blows. Then, he wrapped his arms around her, holding her tightly, as if trying to smother her anger with his embrace.

His chest was solid and warm, but it felt like an unyielding wall, blocking all her struggles and attempts to break free.

Exhausted from hitting him, Yvonne felt a deep sense of grievance and

helplessness. She knew that no matter how hard she fought, Benson wouldn’t let go so easily.

He pressed her head against his shoulder, his fingers gently stroking the back of her neck as if comforting a wounded animal.

Yvonne could feel his tenderness, and the mix of her frustration and anger almost made it hard for her to breathe.

She couldn’t understand why the man she had once loved so deeply had become a prison she couldn’t escape.

As night fell, Yvonne forced herself to eat dinner, though her mood remained heavy. Wrapped in a thick blanket, she sat on the large terrace, opening her phone to video call Olivia and Bella.

Bella’s voice came through the screen.

“Damn, that jerk is too much. I need to replace a way to get you out of there!”

Yvonne smiled bitterly and shook her head. “Calm down. Who are you going to call? Andrew? He and Benson are cut from the same cloth.”

Bella paused for a moment, then sighed. “How are you holding up with him?”

Yvonne rubbed her temples, her voice filled with fatigue. “It’s just the same.”

Bella continued, “I was in a car accident in Mesquite. It was Andrew’s ex- fiancée’s doing.”

Yvonne’s brows furrowed with concern. “And then?”

“Then…” Bella hesitated, her voice tinged with complex emotions. “He called off the engagement with her.”

Yvonne fell silent for a while, a swirl of emotions rising within her. She wasn’t unaware of Andrew’s methods, but hearing Bella’s story now filled her with

uncase.

No matter what had happened between them, a man making such a choice was bound to touch a woman’s heart, wasn’t it?

She wanted to warn Bella that Andrew might not be a good match. But with her own situation in chaos, she wasn’t in a position to give sound advice.

She could only whisper, “Bella, don’t get too carried away.

Olivia, who had been listening to their heated discussion, finally spoke up.” Yvonne, do you really want a divorce?”

As soon as she asked, both Bella and Yvonne responded almost in unison, Don’t get involved with that man!”

Before they could say more, a wet figure suddenly appeared on the screen Steven. He was only wearing a towel, with water dripping from his hair and sliding down his toned chest.

Bella gasped in surprise. “Wow, nice body! Showing off without our permission?”

Yvonne sighed, thinking to herself that Steven was as outrageous as ever. Before they could continue, Steven abruptly ended the call, cutting off the conversation.

The screen went dark, leaving only Olivia and Steven in view.

Olivia frowned, her voice cold as she asked, “What are you doing?”

A hint of amusement flickered in Steven’s eyes as he approached Olivia, pulling her into his arms.

“You’re mine right now,” he murmured, leaning down to kiss the corner of her mouth before she could protest.

Olivia struggled slightly, her hand pressing against his shoulder as she tried to push him away. “Steven, can you just…”

“No,” Steven interrupted her, not giving her a chance to continue.

Olivia sighed, her eyes reflecting a mix of frustration and resignation.

“I didn’t even say anything…” Her voice held a note of complaint, but she knew that this man wouldn’t easily compromise.

“You were thinking about Yvonne and Benson, weren’t you?” Steven easily saw through her thoughts, his tone casual.

Olivia nodded, her voice laced with a hint of pleading. “Yvonne wants a divorce. Can you help her?”

Steven laughed softly at her request.

“She’s just your friend. If it weren’t for Yvonne tricking Benson, do you think we’d only get to see each other twice a month?”

Olivia’s brow furrowed, her gaze growing more determined as she looked at Steven. “She’s extremely important to me.”

Steven’s smile faded, replaced by a stern expression. He looked directly at

Olivia.

“I

won’t go against Benson for the sake of your friend. You should understand

that.”

Olivia was silent for a moment, her heart filled with inner conflict and

helplessness. She knew Steven was right. Since they had met on the mountain, his attitude towards her had indeed changed.

He no longer controlled her as forcefully as before, nor did he treat her harshly

after that incident.

Sometimes, he even showed a gentleness she had never seen from him, making her occasionally believe that Steven could be reasonable.

But Olivia also knew that this was all a facade. Steven, like Benson, was driven by self–interest. Everything between them was based on benefits, with no

emotional ties.

Steven looked down at her.

“I’ve met Benson a few times, don’t know him well, but seeing how much money he’s thrown around because he thought you were his love interest, this must be very important to him. To achieve this, he’ll become very obsessive. If you try to take Yvonne away from him, he’ll go to war with you.”

Olivia’s heart tightened, worry etched across her face. “But Yvonne’s unhappy.”

Steven let out a cold laugh, a hint of disdain in his voice.

“Men don’t care if you’re happy or not. They only care if they’re happy. As long as they’re satisfied, nothing else matters.”

Without waiting for Olivia to respond, he leaned down, kissing her neck with an intensity that left no room for argument. His hands quickly began to remove her clothing, his touch filled with possessive heat.
