Chapter 26 Ubiquitous

Benson’s fingers lightly tapped, a barely noticeable smile on his lips, as if savoring a hidden thought.

His voice was deep and magnetic: “I see, I understand “This statement seemed to respond to George’s observations and sounded like he was talking to himself.

George felt a sucklen tension. He glanced at Benson through the rearview mirror, trying to glean more information.

His heart was filled with doubt, unsure if Benson was expressing disdain or a subtle hint of jealousy.

George couldn’t help but speak, his voice tinged with urgency: “If you noticed the long cut on Madam’s hand, you’d see that Marcus’s attentions are entirely justified.”

His words showed concern for Benson and recognition of Yvonne, as if reminding Benson not to overlook the good right beside him.

Benson remained silent for a moment, his fingers still tapping, deep in thought.

Then, his voice turned cold and firm: “Are you unhappy with your current job and considering resignation?” It sounded like a warning for George not to interfere in his private affairs

George turned around, his eyes filled with sincerity and urgency: “I’m deeply concerned. Marcus is pursuing Madam relentlessly, while you hesitate, giving him a chance. Madam is a rare gem; I genuinely hope you won’t miss out on her!”

His words conveyed both his care for Benson and his appreciation of Yvonne.

Benson didn’t respond immediately. His fingers continued their tapping for a while before he finally spoke: “Alright, do something for me as I say.

This command was both an order and a change of topic. His tone carried undeniable authority, indicating to George that he had plans of his own.

Yvonne’s palm was bandaged rightly, but the persistent, slight pain still annoyed her.

Her brows furrowed, showing how the discomfort was affecting her mood.

Megan entered the office, concerned: “Yvonne, how should we handle Mary’s endorsement agreement?”

Her voice held a note of worry, clearly concerned about the company’s interests.

Yvonne recalled Benson’s earlier words: “You should learn how to be a good CEO, you’re not professional at all!

She lonew Benson was right; in the company, personal matters had no place, and all actions should prioritize the company’s interests.

She remembered slapping Mary. Although it relieved her anger at the time, in hindsight, if Mary refused to shoot and breached the contract, it would cause significant losses for the company.

You go handle other matters first. I need some time to think about how to address this.” Yvonne’s voice revealed a hint of fatigue; she needed time to consider how to resolve this issue.

Megan nodded and left the office.

Yvonne sat alone at her desk, pulling out the broken brooch from a drawer, now in pieces.

Feeling conflicted, Yvonne finally dialed Benson’s number.

She knew that as CEO, she had to take responsibility for her actions.

Benson’s voice came through the phone, calm and serious: “Speak”

Yvonne took a deep breath, her voice steady and firm: “If Miss Mary is willing to give me another chance, I can apologize to her in person.”

There was no emotional fluctuation in her tone; it was clearly a well–thought–out decision,

She understood that as CEO, she had to bear the responsibility, even if it meant setting aside personal pride.

Benson, reclining in the backseat of his car, showed a hint of admiration in his eyes.

He had to admit, Yvonne was both smart and resolute, capable of setting aside personal pride, especially when she wasn’t at fault

He didn’t respond immediately, and Yvonne continued: “I owe you one.”

Her voice carried a note of apology-

In this context, Benson’s feelings were undoubtedly complex.

He understood Yvonne’s responsibilities and pressures as CEO and appreciated her willingness to set aside personal dignity for the company’s sake.

Even though making his wife apologize to a supposed mistress seemed extremely humillating to most.

After a moment of silence, Benson finally spoke: “You’ll do anything?”

Yes!” Yvonne’s answer was firm and swift; she was prepared to bear all consequetices.

Having received her confirmation, Benson hung up.

Yvonne gave a bitter smile, feeling both helpless and self–mocking

She wondered how she had ended up in such a pitiful situation.

As CFO, she should have been in control, but now she had to apologize to someone she didn’t want to face for the company’s benefit.

After work, Yvonne left the office building. Marcus waved at her, enthusiastically saying, “I’ll take you home.”

“Marcin, I have a driver,” Yvonne reminded him, not wanting to trouble the young master.

“But your driver might not prepare dinner for you. I must keep my promise,” Marcus insisted. He had promised to cook for Yvonne, though he wasn’t

skilled.

Yvonne smiled slightly, appreciating Marcus’s landness, and didn’t refuse further.

They went to Yvonne’s home together.

Marcus started working in the kitchen, but soon it became a mess

Clearly, the young master wasn’t skilled in cooking. In the end, he had to order takeout

Yvonne, trust me, I have a talent for cooking,” Marcus reassured, cleaning the kitchen with a slightly embarrassed but determined look

Yvonne didn’t want to discourage Marcus’s enthusiasm and responded, “Alright.”

Just then, the doorbell rang

Marcus thought the takeout had arrived and went to open the door.

However, it wasn’t the delivery person but an unexpected visitor.

Seeing Benson at the door, Marcus was Indeed surprised.

He hadn’t expected Benson to show up at this time, carrying dinner.

“Benson, what brings you here?” Marcus asked.

Benson raised the dinner he brought, smiling: “I heard your hand was hurt, so I brought dinner, hoping it would make your evening less troublesome.”

His tone was light, as if discussing an ordinary matter.

Marcus laughed, seemingly remembering something: “I forgot, Yvonne is your sister.” He stepped aside to let Benson in.

Benson stood in the foyer, his keen eyes noticing the stiffness in Yvonne’s smile.

Her brows furrowed slightly but quickly returned to calm, not showing any displeasure.

He knew Yvonne had been under a lot of pressure lately, and perhaps his sudden appearance was a surprise to her.

With a gentle and concerned tone, he spoke, as if asking about something quite ordinary: “Yvonne, you look a bit surprised. Does my you?
