Chapter 263 Unveiled Past

Benson’s face was etched with sadness, a deep and profound emotion.

Mr. Donald noticed his expression and couldn’t help but smile slightly.

He set down his book, looked at Benson, with a hint of amusement in his eyes.

1 consider you a friend.”

Benson’s voice was low and weary, his brows furrowed, as if his much older friend couldn’t comprehend his troubles.

Mr. Donald’s smile grew more pronounced, as if he were watching someone else’s drama unfold.

“Benson, in my life, I’ve learned that if you want something and it doesn’t exist, you create it. So what if she doesn’t give you time? If you’ve made a mistake, you fix it. What’s there to fear?”

Hearing this, Benson’s expression grew more troubled.

He looked down, tightly gripping a ring, as if it could offer him some comfort.

“But what if, even after changing, things still don’t turn out the way you want?” His voice was filled with helplessness and worry.

“I know Yvonne’s mindset too well. If she decides to let go, she won’t look back. The more I try to hold onto her, the more I realize I can’t.”

Mr. Donald’s smile gradually faded, and after a moment of contemplation, he spoke seriously, “In life, you can’t get everything you want. If a woman is determined to leave you, there’s only one reason—she doesn’t feel loved.”

These words hit Benson like a heavy blow, and his expression became even more somber.

He leaned against the chaise lounge by the window, his hands in his pockets, staring out at the scenery.

Outside, the branches swayed gently in the wind, the leaves glimmering in the sunlight.

The tranquil scene was in stark contrast to the turmoil within him.

Mr. Donald, meanwhile, returned his focus to the design drawings in his hands.

He flipped through a few pages, examining them carefully, occasionally furrowing his brow as if pondering something.

“The jewelry designs in recent years have lacked innovation, becoming superficial,” he muttered to himself, a hint of dissatisfaction in his eyes.

Just then, Mr. Donald’s eyes suddenly lit up. He paused, pointing to one of the designs.

“This one… is not bad.”

Benson leaned over and, seeing the design, couldn’t help but look puzzled.” This… seems familiar.”

“It does indeed. The style is somewhat reminiscent of your father–in–law’s, but with bolder colors and contrasts, yet it’s very harmonious,Mr. Donald explained, his voice tinged with excitement.

Benson’s gaze lingered on the drawing, his expression growing more serious, as if he was lost in deep thought.

He rested his chin on his hand, his eyes distant, as though recalling something from the past.

“What are you thinking about?” Mr. Donald asked curiously.

Benson shook his head. “Nothing. It’s getting late; I should head back. I’ll think carefully about what you said.” He stood up, adjusted his collar, and prepared to leave.

When Benson returned to the hotel, he happened to run into Steven, who was pushing his luggage out.

A hint of surprise and curiosity appeared on his face. “Perfect timing. I have something to ask you.”

At the Taylor family’s old mansion, sunlight poured through the windows, filling the cozy interior with warmth.

Victoria sat on the sofa, her granddaughter Emma by her side, her eyes filled with anticipation.

“What is it, Emma?” Victoria smiled at her granddaughter, her gaze warm and

Her heart was filled with confict

She wanted Yvonne to replace her own happiness but couldn’t completely let go.

Her disappointment in her son and her hopes for his future intertwined leaving her with complex emotions.

“Auntie also said, you know Uncle couldn’t see for a while, right?” Emma’s voice gently echoed in Victoria’s ears, carrying a sense of innocence and helplezoness.

Victoria’s face instantly became grave, her eyes filled with confusion and

surprise

“What… What?” Her voice trembled slightly.

How did Yvonne know about these things?

These past events were known to very few, especially Yvonne. When she married Benson, she only expressed her love for him at first sight

Yvonne, as the daughter of a benefactor, who fell in love with her son, with her excellent appearance and character, should have been Victoria’s ideal daughter

-in–law.

Yet now, these past events being mentioned by Yvonne left Victoria perplexed.

“They even planned to go to many places together,” Emma’s voice carried a hint of nostalgia and sadness.

Victoria’s heart skipped a beat, her gaze becoming resolute.

Suddenly, everything became clear to Victoria.

The turmoil of seven years ago, the storms of the past, were now being uncovered, as if a sharp blade had cut open the wounds in her heart

Back then, the internal struggle within the Taylor family was intense.

Victoria’s thoughts seemed to travel through time, back to those turbulent

years.

Charles and his half–brother Brian were locked in a relentless power struggle.

As soon as they joined the Taylor Group, the battle had begun.

Seven years ago, Brian resorted to extreme measures, staging a car accident, attempting to eliminate both Benson and her husband to regain control of the Taylor family business.

Victoria’s face turned pale, her fingers involuntarily tightening around the handle of the teacup.

She remembered the tension of those times. If not for John’s timely intervention, everything might have changed.

“If it weren’t for John arriving in time, things could have gotten much worse.”

Victoria murmured softly, her voice filled with regret and sorrow.

Charles had suffered a serious leg injury in the accident. Although his health was not in danger, the situation was chaotic.

Victoria remembered how Charles, in order to stabilize the situation, quickly had Brian expelled and even imprisoned to ensure the company’s safety.

At that time, the relationships around them were complicated, with almost no

one they could fully trust.

The only person they could rely on was John.

Gratitude flashed in Victoria’s eyes as she recalled John’s promise to take good care of Benson and ensure he received treatment for his eyes once the situation stabilized.

John’s reassurance had given her some peace of mind. “Benson is safe, being taken care of by trusted people. You can rest easy.”

However, Victoria hadn’t expected that the person caring for Benson would be Yvonne.

The scene vividly appeared in her mind.

Yvonne and Benson had met during that turbulent time, and their relationship had quietly blossomed.

A wave of complex emotions surged in Victoria’s heart.

She deeply understood that the bond between Yvonne and Benson wasn’t just a simple romantic relationship but one that had grown out of those difficult years.
