Chapter 295: Clouds of Doubt
During the meal, Yvonne had to excuse herself twice due to nausea, but Jeremy’s patience and kindness warmed her heart. He didn’t show any signs of irritation, instead, he stayed with her, patiently waiting for her to feel better. Under his warm care, Yvonne’s emotions gradually calmed down.
Suddenly, Yvonne asked out of curiosity, “Have you ever had children?”
Jeremy smiled and shook his head, “No, but I’ve seen family members go through pregnancy, so I’ve picked up a few things.”
Yvonne let out a small “Oh,” feeling that her question had been
answered, at least partially. Then she remembered something Jeremy had mentioned during a phone call, which sparked a bit of hope in her. “You said you had something to tell me when you called?”
Jeremy’s expression grew slightly more serious. “It’s a bit about Saul.”
Yvonne’s heart skipped a beat, and she could barely contain her excitement. “My brother? Saul?”
A spark of hope ignited within her, the thought flashing through her mind that perhaps Olivia might still be alive, and maybe Saul was still out there somewhere. Her heart was stirred by this possibility, as if she was glimpsing long–lost hope.
However, she knew that this hope might just be a figment of her imagination, something too fragile to fully believe in. Yet Jeremy’s news gave her a sliver of courage, daring her to speculate, to hope.
Sensing her excitement, Jeremy softened his tone. “But I’m not
entirely sure. I saw a piece of jewelry design that reminded me very much of Saul’s style. I can’t confirm it for sure… but if you have time, maybe you could ask Mr. Donald.”
Yvonne’s heart pounded, and she was visibly shocked. “You mean… Mr. Donald’s design competition?”
Since Raymond had joined Caesar Plaza, Yvonne had felt much more. at ease. Raymond’s arrival had significantly eased her workload, allowing her to focus more on her personal matters. However, during this time, her energy had been lacking, so she hadn’t spent much time at the company.
Although she felt a sense of relief and relaxation, today’s
conversation with Jeremy and the news about Saul had stirred her. emotions, leaving her in a state of turmoil.
As they left the restaurant, they happened to run into George at the entrance. George greeted Yvonne with a pleasant smile, but when his gaze shifted to Jeremy, his expression immediately stiffened.
George nervously greeted her, “Madam…” He quickly corrected himself, “Miss Yvonne, are you dining here as well?”
Noticing the redness in Yvonne’s eyes and her pale complexion, George couldn’t help but feel uneasy. Did Jeremy do something to upset her? His face took on a hint of hostility.
Jeremy, however, remained composed and polite, with his usual gentlemanly demeanor. Even though George’s attitude was clearly hostile, Jeremy was unfazed and responded courteously, “Hello, George.”
Sensing George’s hostility, Yvonne felt a bit uneasy and quickly grabbed Jeremy’s hand. “George, I’m in a hurry. Let’s talk another day,” she said hastily, trying to conceal her inner anxiety.
George nodded, though still puzzled, he politely replied, “Alright, Miss Yvonne. Take care.”
He then proceeded to settle the bill, contemplating whether to call Benson, but after some thought, decided it was better to personally
go to Australia and discuss the situation with him. George was still uncertain about Jeremy’s identity and his connection to Yvonne, so he decided to handle the matter himself.
Meanwhile, at Caesar Plaza, the jewelry competition co–hosted by Mr. Donald and the “DH” company had already begun. The exhibition hall displayed a series of exquisitely crafted jewelry pieces, each one gleaming with brilliance, captivating numerous spectators.
For Yvonne, this was not just a visual feast but also a deep conversation with her past. She remembered her father once telling her that jewelry was not merely material wealth. They carried the essence of millions of years of nature’s refinement, symbolizing the power of time, as well as representing character and commitment.
Her father’s words had deeply influenced her, instilling in her a reverence and love for jewelry. As a jewelry designer, Saul’s style had been profoundly shaped by their father’s teachings. Yvonne recalled how Saul always managed to express his innermost emotions and sentiments through his jewelry designs. His works were often filled with delicate emotions, perfectly reflecting his state of mind.
Their father had once said that jewelry was not just an ornament; in the hands of a designer, it became vivid and soulful.
Among all the jewelry pieces on display at the exhibition, the most. striking was a set of pear blossom earrings and a brooch. This set of jewelry was highly sought after not only for its unique design but also for the story behind it, which added to its value.
The earrings were shaped like a blooming pear blossom, with tassel- style designs that gave the piece a dynamic feel. The flower itself was intricately crafted, with jade embellishments that gave it a timeless and elegant look, almost as if it carried a mysterious air from a bygone era.
The brooch was a branch adorned with a blooming pear blossom, with lush leaves where jade was embedded, complementing the
petals in a grand and thoughtful design.
Standing in front of the display case, Yvonne instantly recognized the design style. Pear blossoms were her sister Olivia’s favorite flowers, and the design details deeply touched her heart. Her fingers lightly. traced the jewelry in the display case, her eyes shimmering with
complex emotions. While she maintained a calm exterior, inside, she was overwhelmed with intense feelings.
Jeremy, standing beside her, noticed her intense focus on the jewelry. and asked, “Do you see something special in the design?”
Yvonne nodded, her voice trembling sligh, “Yes, the style of these designs is very similar to my brother Saul’s. Besides these, are there any other similar designs?”
Jeremy hesitated, as if contemplating how to phrase his response. Finally, he said, “There might be more, but it’s something you should ask Benson about.”
“What do you mean?” Yvonne frowned, her heart gripped by a sudden unease. Jeremy’s answer left her puzzled. Could it be that Benson knew something?
Jeremy didn’t immediately respond. He simply looked at Yvonne, his eyes filled with a mix of emotions. “Ask Benson. You might replace more answers,” he finally said.
Yvonne was filled with questions, but she didn’t press further. She quietly nodded, knowing she needed to replace the truth, even if the path. ahead was uncertain.
Meanwhile, in Australia, George had just arrived at the Australian
branch and unexpectedly encountered Claire. He was surprised by her presence and immediately asked Joseph, “Joseph, what’s going on? Why is Claire here?”
Joseph smiled slightly and responded, “Claire is Mr. Benson’s girlfriend.”
