Betrayed by My Pack – Wolfless Hybrids Escape -
Chapter 91 –
Jaxon's POV
I had been mindlinking everyone I could think of as soon as we realized what was happening. I needed to get to Brenna right now. I knew I mindlinked Co-Beta Blane and both of my Delta's, Kendrick and Atlas and had them get a team together, including a tracker, to come to the new packhouse. I told them what was happening as I ran. Not knowing if Brenna was safe had me feeling more fear than I have ever felt in my life. I swear to the Goddess that if anything happens to my mate or my pup, I will kill every single one involved. No wonder Jana tried to kill Ivan. She didn't want him to tell us about her plan. It is too late to do anything about that now. All we can do is try to stop them from succeeding in taking our mates. We ran there as soon as possible, but Alexei left us in the dust as he ran ahead. I watched as my father and Justin ran up to meet him, and they immediately went to the parking garage.
We arrived a minute later, and my heart leaped into my throat. My mother lay in my father's arms. She was unconscious and not responding to my father speaking to her. She had an obvious head injury, as did my sisters Sasha and Emerson. Justin was kneeling between them, He was cradling them in his arms, and trying to speak to them both. Kevin went to his mother, Cheryl, to check on her, and Trevor found Chase and Warrick in the corner. Alexei was helping Saoirse as she had been knocked out as well.
I mind-linked Dr. Hill and asked him and Dr. Gurin to come to the new packhouse to treat them immediately. A roar of anger and frustration ripped out of me as I realized that those bastards probably already had my mate. I wasn't going to give up. I am not the best tracker, but I am still good at tracking. My father and Justin are both strong men. They do not show emotions unless it involves one of their children or my mother. The fact that they were moved to tears showed me just how upset they were. "The doctors are on their way," I told them. I wanted to go, but three of my siblings and my mother had been seriously injured.
"Go on, Jaxon, we have this under control. Go get your mate," my father, Brandon, told me. Justin nodded in agreement, and I saw from the fire in their eyes that Paxton and his men had unknowingly signed their own death warrants. They will not rest until they are dead after what they just did to my mother and siblings.
I can sense a source of heat in the woods about half a mile away from where we are. I headed towards it, running as fast as I could. I was hoping against hope that Jana and Anika were still in the pack. Alexei ran up alongside me and followed where I was headed. Our group got larger as more of my men arrived. Kevin and Trevor had mindlinked their men as well, and we found the car with my mate's scent in it. I knew that this was Lena's car. That fucking jealous bitch, I am going to kill her first.
I didn't have to lead anymore as once we found the car, Alexei took off following Cara's scent. The closer we got to the wall surrounding my pack, the faster we went. When we were just over a quarter of a mile away from the wall when I felt it. They were out of my packland, but I still stubbornly kept pushing. I knew my mate would fight them every step of the way. She wouldn't just give up, and her sisters would fight, too. They wouldn't just voluntarily leave with them. All three of them hated Paxton and his men with a vengeance.
Kevin had told us earlier about Luna sparring in his pack. His pride for her was evident as she was obviously just as good a fighter as Brenna was. I know that Cara would have protected them, as she loves her sisters wholeheartedly. She wouldn't allow anything bad to happen to them. I know Cara would rather be hurt than her sisters get hurt. My being unable to mindlink Brenna was causing me the most fear.
We just wanted to save our mates, but I already knew they were not there anymore. Alexei swiftly jumped up onto the top of the wall, and I knew the moment his shoulders slumped that they were truly gone. His head shot up, and he looked down before jumping to the other side of the wall. He was back a minute later. The amount of anger on his face was shocking. I have gone with him on missions before, and I have never seen him look so furious.
"They are gone. I saw their taillights in the distance, but they were miles away now. I am sure that they are taking them to the private airfield. I can have my plane ready to go when you are ready. They are gassing it up now. I wish I had ripped that pathetic jerk's head off his shoulders when I had the chance. Jana and Anika were both here; I could smell them. That is why they needed them. Only a vampire can get them over the wall so quickly. That is what they had been meeting about," Alexei growled out in frustration.
"I will be ready to go in less than an hour, Alexei. How many can your plane seat?" I asked. I needed to know who to bring with us and save seats for our mates.
"It can hold up to 19 passengers, Jaxon. I am not taking any stewardesses on this trip, so we actually have room for a total of 21. We just need to keep seats available for our mates on the return. I am bringing my whole team, minus Ivan. I already have them gearing up. Anton wanted to stay here to watch out for Cheryl and Ivan. I will leave Adrik at the coven to run things there. We were on lock down as of five minutes ago. I just need to go change and grab a bag for Cara to be able to change clothes. We have plenty of space in the hold for you to bring your weapons with you if you would like to. I warn you, I don't plan on allowing Paxton, Clay, or Rex to live. I intend to kill all three of them for taking our mates. Jana, Anika, and Lena will have to pay with their lives as well. If you want to stay back and let us handle it, we can. That way, you won't have to answer to the Council about it," Alexei told me.
"We can decide on the plane who gets to kill who. His people were not involved in this. I wasn't planning on killing them. But I told the Council when they were here that if Paxton didn't stop, I would kill him. I am not notifying them of anything. Better to ask for forgiveness than permission. I will not allow them to hold us back. Meet at the pack hospital in thirty?" Jaxon asked.
"That sounds good, Jaxon. I just needed to go by the hospital before we left. I will have my SUV for my team; you will need two more to leave at the airfield for when we return," Alexei replied.
The moment I entered my apartment, I almost fell to my knees. I can scent Brenna everywhere in here. I feel a rage building in me as I worry about Brenna and my pup. No one has ever been stupid enough to challenge us after I took over. We had been attacked by a large group a little over five years ago, but they were dealt with quickly.
I wasn't even this mad at them when it happened. But Paxton has gone too far. I grabbed some clothes for me and Brenna and shoved them into a bag, and then changed out of my tux. I was going to make her my Luna and wife tonight. There is no way that I would allow that asshole to try to talk his way out of this. He is going to die, and the only person that I would concede the honor to was Alexei.
I knew that he was dealing with the same thing I was and grabbing clothes for Cara at Saoirse's home. I wouldn't wish what we are going through on anyone. I grabbed an extra sports bra, tee shirt, and leggings for Luna to change as well, just in case. I started mindlinking again. I was giving directions to as many as I could. I got into my SUV and drove over to the hospital. I saw Kevin, Trevor, and my brothers, Liam and Dexter, were all there waiting for me. They were standing next to Kevin's SUV. I nodded at them and told them that I would be right back. More people were arriving, but I didn't have time to stop right now.
Dr. Hill had told me that they had put my mother and sisters in the VIP ward. Even doubling up, it was full now with Cheryl and Saoirse in the third room. We never had a reason to have more than three VIP rooms-not until today. As I walked past Ivan's door, I heard him arguing with Alexei. "I am fine, Alexei. I can go and watch the coven while you are gone. I don't need to stay here any longer," Ivan said.
"No, you just woke up tonight. Do not forget that both Kira and I had to assist in your healing. You would have been out the whole two weeks or more if we hadn't both healed some of the damage the gunshot did to you. You still need to rest, Ivan. I know you want to help, but you need to stay here. Maybe you should take the time to try to charm your mate," Alexei gently told him. Ivan stopped arguing at the mention of his mate.
"If I see anything, I will let you know, Alexei. I want you and the team to be safe. Paxton was prepared, he may have a greeting for you prepared as well," Ivan replied.
"He may have, but we will have the element of surprise. Paxton is thinking of the three-day negotiation that the Council imparts before agreeing for packs to go to war. We are bypassing that, as I already told two of the Council members that if Paxton came back, I would wage war on them. That was their warning. The only other warning will be us arriving at Kamaria's gate. I know that they are expecting us there. You cannot take three mates away and not expect retribution for it. They either give us our mates back or suffer the consequences," I announced as I stepped into the room.
"They will know you are coming," Ivan warned.
"I know they will. They should expect us, they took our mates. They just won't expect us as quickly as we will get there. They think they have the upper hand in this, but they are wrong. We will hit them hard and take our mates back. Paxton doesn't deserve to lead a pack, and his ranked men as just as terrible as he is. Kamaria needs to start over from scratch. We are helping them do just that," I advised Ivan before walking away to go check on my mother and siblings.
