When Freida left for college, she just happened to pass Jayce as he was loading his van for work. He nodded a hello in her direction.
"Got some clothes on today?" he commented.
Freida nodded. "My College frowns upon nakedness."
He laughed and nodded. He had to have guessed something weird was going on between her and Damon, but he probably wouldn't say anything about it.
When she arrived at College, her new friends were waiting by the gate for her.
"You always just arrive on time," Tom commented.
"She's tardy but not quite late," Stacy agreed.
"I blame the public transport system," Felix said.
The foursome walked up the grassy knoll toward the school, beneath blossom trees that were just beginning to drop their white confetti.
"I love this place," she said.
"Aww," the others cooed in unison..
"She's too cute, right?" Felix said, and the others both agreed.
These people really seemed to like her, which she found confusing and odd. Nobody had really liked her in school. A couple of people had tolerated her, but her so-called friends had all dumped her off at the first opportunity. "Did you get the text I sent you?" Tom asked.
"Oh, no, Damon has my phone," she blurted out, just remembering that he'd hidden it somewhere.
"Damon?" Tom asked. Something about the tone in his voice changed.
'He's jealous,' she thought. She was pretty good at picking up on other people's feelings always had been.
'Does that mean Tom likes me?' she wondered. She hadn't thought of him that way and had told him all about her secret boyfriend.
"My evil neighbour," she said. "What was the text about?"
As she waited for an answer, they just stared at her blankly.
"I think we need more information on his evil neighbour, mate," Stacy said, poking her gently in the side.
The others nodded in agreement.
Freida was too ashamed to tell them. It was humiliating.
"Nothing much to tell. He's just a dickhead who took my phone," she said, skimming over most of the story. "Tell me what the text was?"
"I was seeing if you wanted to go to this gig on Friday," Tom said.
"Oh, are you all going?" she asked. "Sure. If I can get away."
"Away from?" Tom asked.
"My evil neighbour," she said with a frown, forgetting that she'd missed out on telling them most of the story.
They shook their heads and laughed.
"This is why we love her," Felix said. "She's our wild card."
Freida shrugged, no idea what he meant by that.
After a couple of lectures, she was free to go again but decided to hang out in the library with her friends. It was nice to not have to worry about Damon for a while. He had ordered her to go round to his house after he finished school and she was somewhat dreading it.
As time inevitably and inconveniently rolled around towards three, she left for the bus stop.
I'll email you about Friday," Tom said as she waved goodbye. "You know... because you don't have your phone."
"Great," Freida said, smiling at him.
She arrived home just in time to see Damon walking down the street... with her brother.
Huh?
She hid, watching as Damon fist-bumped Nathan and said, "Seeya later, Mate."
'Mate?' she thought. 'Since when?'
She stepped out of the bush just as Damon passed her.
"What the?" he cried, raising his fists as if he was going to punch her.
"Don't shoot," she cried, putting up her hands.
"Why are you creeping in my bushes?" he demanded to know.
"I'm just waiting for you," she lied, shifting from foot to foot. "Why were you with Nathan?"
Damon smiled smugly. "I said I was going to do something nice for you, right?"
"Uh huh," Freida nodded.
"I just turned your brother into one of the popular kids," he said.
"Do you have magical powers of some sort?" she asked.
"I don't need magical powers. I've got real powers. If I tell people he's cool... then he's cool," Damon asserted.
"Wow, that's..." she wasn't sure what to say. Mum certainly wouldn't approve of Nathan joining the school bully gang, but she didn't want to reject the only kindness he's ever shown her. "That's kind of you." "Yeah it is," he bragged. "I'm a regular Mother Theresa."
Freida nodded as she followed Damon inside.
"Put this on," Damon said, throwing a lacy garment at her head.
She peeled it from her face and frowned at the tiny piece of lace and silk.
'Might as well be naked,' she thought, looking at the see-through bra. It was attached to the shortest skirt known to man--one that wouldn't hide a single thing.
"Do I need to repeat myself?" he asked.
Freida managed to keep her thoughts to herself as she slipped into the tiny outfit. When she was done, she straightened up, feeling like an idiot in front of him. "Nice," he said with a nod.
"Careful, that almost sounded like a complement," Freida snarked before she could stop herself. Her hand flew to her mouth, but it was too late. She stared apologetically, but he just laughed.
"Get this place tidied up," he ordered. "My friends will be here soon, and you are going to serve as out maid."
"Friends?" she gulped. "That doesn't include "
No, I haven't invited your brother. He's hanging out with Chelsea so it's just going to be you and the guys," he confirmed, flashing an evil grin.
Freida did not like the way he was looking at her. Her mind fell into the gutter, imagining what he might make her do, and her main response was fear.
But somewhere... deep down inside... she almost felt a little bit excited.
'Am I some kind of freak?' she wondered.
Turning to look out of the window, she saw the pretty girl with the big boobs knocking on her door.
'So I guess that is Chelsea.'
She watched as her brother answered and joined the beautiful girl, a smile on his lips and a blush in his cheeks. He looked so happy for once. Freida couldn't remember when she had last seen him looking so happy.
As the couple walked away, she spotted Damon's gang walking up the driveway. She recognised them from that day behind the bike shed, not that she had paid them much attention at the time.
One of them was almost as tall as Damon and built like a brick shithouse. The others were more average sized, though the brunette was kinda good looking, perfectly preened and wearing the most expensive brands. The other was young looking, with lots of blonde hair spilling out from under his cap. He was the opposite--dirty looking with cheap, holey clothing.
"This is Ron, Ben and Granger," Damon introduced them.
"Lads... meet your maid for this evening."
"Can we fuck her?" Granger asked immediately after taking one look at her.
The other two just stared, jaws hanging and practically drooling.
'Say no,' Freida willed. 'Please say no.'
