Blood Sisters -
Epilogue
Agents Christopher “David”Flemming and Tyrone “Goliath” Bradley walked alongside two otherpeople: A tall, older portly man, dressed in a dark Italian suit. Hewalked with a hand-carved mahogany cane and smelled of pipe tobacco.Walking just behind the three men was a thin woman of mixed Asian andCaucasian blood. She wore an oriental style embroidered dress ofblack and red, with gold flowers and dragon accents. She had shortblack hair and wore stiletto heels that looked as much like weaponsas footwear.
The huge building they were inwas mostly dark, though as the four walked through motion sensorsactivated the light in their area. Along one side of them was a wallof various crates. Along the the other were seven foot tall roundcanisters, each with a letter and a three number designation
Agent Flemming was speaking “Thisbuilding is just a temporary facility while we move the operation toother locations”. The fat man replied “We are going with the planof separating all the different Synthoid lines then, in case thereare further difficulties?” “Yes sir” said Flemming crisply “Ithink the fake Project Bloodsister name we came up with willkeep them chasing their tails. So far as they know Bloodsister wasthe entirety of the operation, and that they have put a stop to it”.Flemming flicked a piece of lint from his cuff, then said “I remainconfident that the full extent of the project remains a secret”.
The woman spoke “I told you wewere moving to fast, we are exposed now. We were better off when wewere using the Splicer plan. Now they are looking at us,instead of the streets”. The fat man coughed “So you've saidLilly. He was blowing to many heads off, it was getting too bloody. We are better off having him locked in that Virginia lab where we cankeep an eye on him”. Lilly protested “We could have just replacedhim on the street while...” “Yes, yes I know. Well we didn't. Butlook around you” The fat man gestured. “What we learned from hisexperiments has allowed all this. Hundreds of synthoids, not perfectI grant you, but...” Lilly scowled at the fat man “If you ask me,all the synthoid's so far have been a failure. The transformed humanswere much more successful. Many are still active now. So far the onlysynthoid that has had any success at all, was the one that got away”.
Agent Flemming stopped as theycame to a smaller cylinder, slightly different then the others.
“Yes, but we got it back”. Hepressed a button and the canister opened, showing a blond hairedyoung girl in a plain silver jumpsuit. On it's chest was thedesignation B1-8-7, AKA “Cricket”. Flemming said “It isunfortunate that I was unable to upload its memory matrix, it mayhave made replicating this asset much easier”. He looked askance atTigerlilly “we have one of your transformed humans to thankfor that, North Star destroyed the laser interface”. Lilly juststared knives at the agent. The fat man spoke between them, changingthe subject diplomatically. “Your sure no one saw you switch herbody with one of the other 'B' series?” he asked. Agent Flemmingshook his head “I got them all out. The only other person in theroom was Marshal Desnoyers, and he was trapped in his ruined armorunit”.
The fat man nodded his head, allchins. “Alright, but still, keep an eye on him, will you?”.”Yessir”. The fat man reached over and pressed the button again toclose the cylinder. “We have to replace out what is different aboutthis girl. How she functioned so superior to all the others”.Flemming raised an eyebrow “Girl, sir?”. The fat man grimaced“Eh, habit. Just seems weird to call her it don't youthink?”. The four moved on, leaving the cylinder in the dark as thelights clicked off behind them. There, all alone, Cricket dreamed.
