Lisa p.o.v.

I sat on the porch swing as I looked toward the gym area. Which I could see from my seat. Ace was teaching Aiden to fight. At first Aiden was hesitant to even get out of his room, but it took a lot of talking and explaining the situation for him to accept it. So seeing to two of them like that is progress in my eyes. I closed my eyes and took a deep breath. I initially came here to calm my mind. Vik had been pestering me the whole day. At first it didn’t bother me much but I couldn’t take it anymore. I noticed him coming from the corner of my eye. I was about to say something when he held up a container of my favorite ice cream.

“I come in peace, pretty lady.” He extended the ice cream to me and I took it. Without glancing to him I dug in.

“Okay are you willing to listen now?” I asked between my bites.

“Do I have a choice?”

“You’re going to hate us if we keep it from you any longer.” He just shrugged. “We found Lea… she already gave birth to your baby.” I answered in one breath. He stilled beside me.

“What?”

“Do you want to see them?” he sat frozen. “Vik…” I nudged him.

“Uh yeah… where…” I looked up. He was full on panicking.

“Hey. Relax. Come on let’s go. Ace will take us.” He nodded.

I walked to the gym. Only to replace Aiden running away from Ace. What did he do now?

“Why are you running away monkey?” as soon as he heard my voice he started coming toward me.

“Papa is being mean.” He showed his tongue to Ace making him shake with laughter.

“Okay that’s enough training for tonight then.” Ace was about to protest but I spoke up cutting him off. “Vik is ready to meet them.” I whispered to him and he nodded.

All of us walked to the car. A heavy silence surrounded us.

“Mama where are we going?” Aiden suddenly spoke up. I wasn’t leaving him alone at home so we had to bring him along.

“We’re going to get ice cream.” Ace cut in before I could even say anything. I looked at him through the reverse mirror but he just shrugged. We stopped by a shop and Ace got us ice cream. I frowned when he pulled up in front of a hospital. Ace and Vik went inside as we waited by the car. After a while Ace walked out alone.

“Where is Vik? And I thought you said they got out of the hospital.” I asked getting out of the car where Aiden couldn’t hear us.

“Complications.” He just shrugged.

“What did you do?” he just held a wicked glint on his face.

“Nothing. Now come on.” He got Aiden and pulled me along.

“Where are you taking us?”

“Getting you checked. I know you didn’t go today.”

“I didn’t get the time. I would have gone eventually.” I sighed.

“Well you can go now.” He pulled me into one of the hospital rooms where there was already a lady in a white coat waiting. She asked a couple of questions, took blood and urine samples and finally did an ultrasound. Ace came back inside for that. Aiden was still looking around like he was confused. Seeing the ultrasound just made everything real. After Aiden I never thought I would be in this situation again. The doctor rattled on about the instructions and foods I should avoid but my eyes stayed glued on the monitor. It took a while for the thought to settle I was pregnant again. We left the room quietly. Neither of us dared to say a word.

“Mama are you sick?” Aiden asked snapping me out of my daydream.

“No monkey. Why would you say that?”

“You went to the doctor lady. You take me to her when I’m sick.” We were in the car waiting for Vik to come back and Aiden started squirming in his seat.

“I’m not sick. But you are getting a little brother or sister.”

He looked confused for a second.

“Why?”

“Because we probably weren’t careful enough.” I mumbled to myself.

“Why were you not careful?”

“It just happened.”

We didn’t get to finish that conversation. As Vik and Ace entered the car. Both of them looked tense. Vik’s eyes were bloodshot red and he held his baby in his arms. I wanted to ask what happened but I knew they wouldn’t say anything in front of Aiden. The ride back home was worse than the drive to the hospital. Everyone seemed to be lost in their own thoughts. By the time we got home Aiden had fallen asleep.

Ace took Aiden to his room and I followed Vik. He seemed as stiff as a statue.

“What happened?” I tried

“She killed herself… in front of me.” he finally let out.

“W-what?”

He sat down on the couch staring at the baby in his arms. She slept soundlessly unaware of her surroundings.

“She said that she didn’t want to betray us and that she couldn’t keep doing it. It was eating her up from inside, but she didn’t have a choice.” He looked up and had a haunted look in his eyes. Like he couldn’t work through everything he had been through. “She took Ace’s gun and shot herself.” He whispered. Everything quieted around us. His eyes shifted to the baby in his arms. I didn’t know what to say. I was still letting his words sink in. The baby started crying and Vik stared at her wide eyed. He looked at me and whispered. “What the hell am I supposed to do?”

“She’s probably hungry.”

“Okay… what does she eat?”

“Did you guys really pick up a new born baby from the hospital without knowing what to do?”

“I thought we would figure it out.” I heard Ace say as he joined us. I face palmed myself.

“You two are idiots. We could have stopped on the way home to buy the things we needed. All the stores are probably closed now?” I rolled my eyes.

“What does the baby need?” Ace asked fishing out his phone from his pocket.

“I don’t think you or your men know anything about baby supplies.” I showed Vik how to hold her to quiet her down and went with Ace to the store. Which he probably threatened to be opened. I got all of the things needed. By the time we were back home Vik was relieved to see us.

“She hasn’t stopped crying.” He said with a horrified tone.

“She’s a baby. That’s what they do.” I shrugged and gave him a bottle to feed her. He stared at me like I had two heads. I gave up and took her in my arms. She quieted down as she started drinking her milk. “What’s her name?”

“I don’t know? I can’t decide. Lea didn’t say anything either...” he went quiet after that.

“Lydia.” I said.

“Huh?”

“Lea once told me if she had a baby girl she would name her Lydia.”

Silence engulfed us as I focused on the baby. Vik stayed in his place staring at her like a statue.
