Lisa p.o.v.

It felt like I couldn’t breathe. Ever since that man appeared in front of me something felt off. Listening to him just made my skin crawl. I’ve been around dangerous people often enough to know when something is off. Something about him seemed so... unhinged.

Seeing Ace’s reaction confirmed what my mind already knew. I’ve seen his possessive and protective side, but the speed his walls went up around that man was something else.

The fact that he openly threatened Aiden and challenged Ace like that just didn’t sit right. I glanced over to Ace. He had his fists clenched as he stared out of the car window. He looked lost in his thoughts. I contemplated if I should say something to him or not. Before I could even come to a decision the car halted and I noticed we were in front of the mansion.

Without a second thought I got out of the car and went straight to Aiden’s room. I slightly opened the door, not to startle him awake. Seeing an empty bed just send my mind in a haywire. I rushed into the room and checked everywhere he could be.

“AIDEN!” I called out to him as soon as I stepped out of the room. I frantically walked down the hall checking all the rooms.

“Mama!” hearing his voice made me stop in my steps. I see him skipping out of the kitchen. Letting out a relieved breath I rush to him and ingulf him in a hug.

“Why are you still up?” I asked and he giggled.

“Wanted cookies.”

“It’s too late for cookies.” I laughed as I saw his adorable pout. “Come on let’s get you in bed, monkey.”

He gave me his sad eyes, the one he uses when he gets in trouble, but still joins me to his bedroom. Putting him to sleep I stare at him for a few moments. Sighing I turn the lights off and exit the room. Slowly walking to mine I let the events of tonight replay through my mind. And there probably wasn’t even a single moment throughout the night where I didn’t have anxiety.

Entering the bathroom, I slowly stripped out of my dress and jewelry. Putting the shower to a warm temperature, I step under the calming stream of hot water. I close my eyes and run my fingers through my hair, trying to drown the anxiety filled thoughts in my mind but they kept getting louder and louder.

I suddenly felt a hand on my arm and before I could react, I saw it was Ace.

“What the hell are you doing Daleyza? Were you trying to burn yourself?” his voice boomed through the not so small bathroom. That’s when I noticed the thick fog in the bathroom probably caused by the steam and the beginning blisters on my skin.

I tried to come with an answer, but my mind refused to cooperate. So, I just stood there naked and wet in front of him as he shook with anger. Grabbing a towel, I drape myself with it and walked out of the bathroom.

“Daleyza... I was talking to you.”

“I don’t have answers for you Ace.”

“I do not have the time nor energy to deal with this right now.” he mumbled under his breath, but I hear it.

“No one told you to Ace.” I snapped. “No one told you to take care of me then why are you so insistent on it?”

“Because I’m probably the only person in your life who gives two fucks of what is going on with you... if I won’t no one will.” he gritted his teeth sinking his nails deeper in the skin of my arm.

“Well, you don’t have to.”

“Yes, I do. Because you are stubborn and if I won’t interfere, you’ll be a danger to Aiden and yourself.”

“How dare you...”

“How dare I what? Tell me Daleyza... How dare I what?... I’ve been patient with you but you keep pushing me past the limit I can tolerate. Why don’t you think for once in your life? I’ve been stretching myself thin to make this work but you.. Vy sdelali svoyey missiyey deystvovat’ mne na nervy. kak trudno tebe vremya ot vremeni ispol’zovat’ svoy mozg. YA delal vse, chto mog, chtoby zashchitit’ tebya i obezopasit’, no ty postavil tsel’yu svoyey zhizni poyti protiv menya. (You’ve made it your mission to get on every single of my nerves. how difficult is it for you to use that brain of yours once in a while? I have been doing everything I can to protect you and keep you safe but you’ve made it your life’s goal to go against me.)he burst out and stormed out of the room.

Sinking onto the bed I rest my head on my hands and my elbows on my knees. As I try to figure out what to do now. I let my thoughts consume me. For the first time in years, I let all the door I’ve closed in my mind loose. Literally all hell breaks loose regarding to my thoughts.

Slowly opening my eyes, I wonder where I am, when suddenly I recognize the room I was in. Looking to my left I see Frankie tied to a chair next to me. I struggle with my hands to loosen the restraints but I can’t seem to get them loose. Why are Frankie and I teens?

“Frankie, wake up we have to get out of here.” I whispered trying to kick his legs, only to replace mine were tied to the chair as well. After a while I managed to get them loose. I was about to get them all off when I heard footsteps approaching the room, we were in. Quickly circling the rope around my arms, I act as if I’m still unconscious. The footsteps get closer and the door creeks open. I hear the man telling someone on the phone that we were still out cold. When the door creaked shut and I heard the footsteps moving along I quickly get out of the chair and face Frankie as I try to get him loose. He finally regained consciousness and asked where we were. I told him what I remembered as we tried to get out. Almost getting confronted by many send my heart haywire.

Slowly we got out of the warehouse barely missing some guards at some point. Walking toward the trees around the warehouse I hoped we could escape them. Suddenly we heard gunshots and everything turned chaotic. We were found by dad’s bodyguard and he took us home.

When we reached dad fussed over Frankie, like he’s been doing these last months.

“Dad...”

“Stop calling me dad.” he gritted his teeth. “Lisa, I don’t want to hear anything from you. This is all your fault. How could you be so selfish and stupid to put your brother in danger? Don’t you think? I don’t have time to deal with you now. So, keep quiet or go to your room.” yelling at me. I had the feeling he could snap and hit me any moment.

I didn’t know I had fallen asleep till Ace shook me awake. My eyes flickered open and I noticed I was in Ace’s bedroom. The worried look on Ace’s face made me wonder why he was holding me so tightly, but it was getting too much for me. So, like the past few weeks I broke down again. I felt my body sobbing before I even had a clue what was going on. I didn’t have the energy to fight it anymore and let everything consume me as Ace tried to say something. But his words were like whispers compared to the yelling in my mind.
