Bride of the vampire
Chapter sixty

*****THAT MORNING*****

Hazel opened the curtains as the ray of the sun reflected on Crystal's face. As she groaned and turned around.

Hazel shakes her head and moves to the other side of the bed, unlocking the window again.

"Close the curtains please". She groaned and tries to pull the cover over her head.

Hazel pulled it away.

"Wake up now Princess.".

"Let me sleep more please. It's still early".

"Crystal, Damien is leaving".

"Damien... is what?". She hurriedly stood up..

"Relax, he's just leaving for work."

"He's really sad and feeling guilty about what happened last night. You should try talking to him. Perhaps you could cook for him". Hazel suggested. "Hazel...."

"Child, we both know he has anger issues but he's really trying to control himself around you. And you should try to be more understanding." "Hazel.."

"Freshen up now, I will help you cook". Hazel said, trying to change the subject.

She knows if it continues, Crystal will want to dig up something she's avoiding. So it's better to end it there.

Crystal nodded as she walked over to the bathroom.

She stared at her reflection in the mirror.

"Was I wrong?". She asked herself.

She ran her hands through her hair frustratedly.

"How did my life become so messed up?".

She was just working as a waitress and going to the club. Having Adrian as her best friend. Visiting her mother every weekend.

It was that simple but now.

Damien wasn't who she thought he was. And Liam? She couldn't even remember what happened after the party night. She just woke up weak and covered in bruises in Damien's house.

Her head hurts as she tries to remember.

She turned on the shower as the water flowed from her hair down to her feet.

Crystal stood under the warm water, letting it wash away the sleepiness, stress and thoughts of the previous night.. She took a deep breath, trying to focus on the present moment and not worry about her life. As the water cascaded down her body, she closed her eyes and imagined herself in Damien's arm, resting and relaxing. For a moment, she felt at peace, as she smiled happily. She heard a faint sound coming from outside.

"You ain't gonna turn to a mermaid if you stay under the shower too long dear." Hazel yelled.

"I haven't even started bathing yet". She yelled back.

"Don't tell me you're thinking of Damien. It's been 15 minutes already."

She blushed and hurriedly bathed herself.

Looking all fresh and wet, she stepped out of the bathroom.

Hazel magically dried her hair.

"Common girl, we still have a lot to do".

"Breath in". Hazel said.

"Breath out".

"Now I'm in your mind, Max is still here. We don't want him replaceing out our little secret." Crystal nodded.

"Now what should I do?".

"Let's go to the kitchen".

She nodded and started walking like a robot.

"What are you doing?".

"Well since you're controlling my mind. I might as well behave like a robot".

"Are you talking to yourself?". Max asked, appearing out of nowhere.

"Geez! You startled me".

"I'm not talking to myself, I'm talking to...... myself". Crystal responded nervously as she almost exposed hazel.

"That's weird. What are you up to?". Max asked, following her to the kitchen.

"Cooking. What's Damien's favourite food?".

"Blood".

"Excuse me?".

"Oh I mean, bloodabodon??". He blabbered.

Crystal stared at him awkwardly.

"Do you realise you're making no sense?".

"I don't know his favourite food."

"How long have you been with Damien?".

"500..... five years". He scratched his hair nervously.

"And you have no idea about his favourite food, you should be ashamed of yourself",

"We never talk about those things. We only discussed business and lives. All I know is that he loves homemade food a lot". He said, trying to defend himself.

"He loves paella". Hazel whispered in her mind.

"What's paella?". Crystal said out loud.

"It's Spanish rice. Made with saffron, chicken and seafood. Oh true, I have seen Damien eat that a lot". Max responded.

"how am I supposed to make it if I have not even tasted or seen it before?".

"Calm down, you're gonna get max suspicious". Hazel responded

"I didn't ask you to make it". Max said, raising an eyebrow.

Crystal forced a smile.

"Listen carefully, it's very simple to make. To make Spanish paella, the first step is to sauté chopped onions and garlic in olive oil. Next, add chicken pieces and chorizo sausage and cook until they're lightly browned. Then, add in chopped tomatoes and paprika and cook until the tomatoes are soft. Add in short-grain rice and saffron threads, and stir until everything is well combined. Finally, pour in chicken stock and simmer until the rice is cooked through and the liquid has been absorbed. Then, garnish with lemon wedges and fresh parsley.". Hazel explained.

Crystal got into action immediately, she did as she was told. Max watches her in amazement.

"I thought you didn't know how to prepare it". He whispered with his jar down in surprise. "Well, I like to shock people. Tell me how it tastes?". She asked, giving him a spoonful of it. "Oh my God.". He moan in pleasure

"Marry me please".

Crystal laughed.

"Ask Damien first".

She fished out the one she was taking to Damien in a fancy plate.

"You're taking me to Damien's office". She told max.

"Wait, you really prepared this for Damien?". He yelled in shock.

"Yes!". Without waiting for his response, she hurriedly went to change her clothes.

"Thank you hazel, I will be back in a while".

Giving Hazel a tight hug, she left.

The drive to Damien's office was quite silent as both of them were lost in their own world.

As soon as they arrived, whispers started filling up the place.

"She was the girl in the news".

"Wow she's gorgeous".

Max cleared his throat as everywhere went silent immediately.

"Is Damien in the office?". He asked the receptionist.

"Yes sir max❞.

Max nodded and led crystal inside, stopping halfway.

"Sorry I can't follow you inside. I hope you can understand".

Crystal nodded and pecked him before going towards the door.

As she approached, she started hearing yelling from inside.

"I don't believe in words but in what I see. If I hadn't seen it, I wouldn't have believed it. I always had trust in you dame. But you broke it. I even went against my father for you but how did you pay me back?? By breaking my trust? Betraying me. And there's nothing you will do to make me forgive you. Not until you go through the same pain I went through". The voice yelled angrily.

"Is that Liam?".

"I never broke your trust. What happened that day wasn't what it seemed like. Sometimes not all you see is the truth. Your father was the reason for all this". She heard Damien yell back too.

What were they talking about?

"What's going on here?". She whispered entering the office as they stared at her in shock.

"OH NO". Damien whispered
