Bubble Gum Kisses
CHAPTER 58

**Kapittel 58** ***Friso***

**“Ugh, you again?!"** the vexed colleen exclaimed in frustration when he pulled over and rolled the windows down.

The sight of her never failed to amuse him. As always, she looked breathtakingly beautiful even though she was drenched in rainwater, causing her uniform to hug her body tightly and slightly revealed her curves. As a man who was amidst leaving his pubescent years, seeing a woman's body always triggered his adamant urges. He couldn't help but stop and stare at the red-faced, damp beauty glaring daggers at him. At the back of his head, he thought she was Tinkerbell who accidentally tumbled into the ocean, all petite and adorable.

He looked down and saw that her precious shoes were sullied. The crime was committed by an all-girls clique who passed by earlier. He happened to witness her while he was taking his car out of the parking lot. She was peacefully sitting on the waiting shed only to get tyrannized by the clique by splashing a puddle with their car in her direction. The fuckers stopped, not to apologize, but to criticize her. He mentally noted to make sure those girls would pay, remembering their faces.

"Come," he cocked his head to the shotgun seat. "I'll take you home."

"I'm fine," the self-willed blonde rejected his offer with her arms crossed.

"In this weather with that wet uniform? I don't think so." He chuckled, reminded that she had always been stubborn. Little did he know that his statement was sparking her explosive fuse. "Mom's picking me up."

"Again, in this weather? Mrs. H would be lucky to get here before the gate closes." A pang of guilt hit his chest when he used her mother's name to get her to join him. But if that's what it takes, then so be it."Plus, I'm sure she would hate it once she sees your shoes in that state," he added.

He saw that her expression changed upon hearing him mention her mother. He was getting her, and he was going to use that moment of hesitation to his full advantage. "So? Come on," he cajoled. "Don't worry, I'm no rapist. I got a heater in here too, could keep us warm."

"Just go home, Friso," Vanessa said with a frustrated sigh. And here he thought that she was about to give in.

"Hey, my mom didn't raise me to let a poor friend get sick because they got wet in the rain. Especially when I'm present." If she wouldn't be swayed by the idea of her mother, then why not with his? They were particularly close. "Right." He saw her sigh again and roll her eyes in another direction. "That's why I wonder why you became a piece of shit," she mumbled to herself in a small voice.

"What was that?" he asked, he couldn't quite hear what she said next.

"Nothing," she immediately turned her face upfront.

He sighed. His intentions were clear, he didn't only want to keep her around but also provide her with comfort in this cold weather and get her home safe. "Come on, Van. Get in. I'll get you home safe." He was sincere when he said those words. "I promise."

Vanessa stared at him in a bewildered gaze, her eyes fixated on his face as if she was inspecting how sincere he was with bringing her home. "If you do one move at me, you're gonna have to meet my taser," she warned, her glare at him getting sharper.

"No problem." He showed her a toothy smile, glad that he was able to sway her. "Hop on."

He watched her look at the sky, her clothes, then her feet with a gaze that gave him the impression she was deep in thought. He patiently waited for her to contemplate, tapping his fingers softly on the steering wheel. She finally sighed in defeat. "Fine."

"Yes!" he cheered to himself.

He was in the midst of unlocking the doors when he saw her walk to the front of his car, pull out her phone and a flash snapped from its camera. "What... are you doing?" he asked, bewildered. "Insurance," she retorted while taking a few more shots of what seemed to be of his plate number. "In case you take me to the woods and kill me," she continued before walking to the back.

"Oh come one, love. No need to be so wary of me," he said while watching her snapping shots.

"God, you sound so cringe," she remarked wincing, and he felt his pride being toppled down once again. It hurt more because she didn't call him that only once, but twice!

"Just get in," he invited through gritted teeth, obviously annoyed that he was called cringe.

"Give me a bit.” She took one last picture before walking to the side of his car. "How come your car's not opening?" she asked when she tried to pull the door open, yet it resisted from providing her entrance.

"Sorry, forgot to mention that it opens upwards," he said with his lips raised to one side for a smirk, attempting to taunt her. He was successful, she bit her inner cheek and began mumbling to herself as she raised the door upward. He couldn't help but smile, she looked so cute being like that.

He hastily put the heater on when she set her butt down on the shotgun seat, attempting to make her comfortable. Vanessa was sitting all guarded. She had two legs clasper together tightly while embracing her bag that was sitting on her lap securely as if her life depended on it, quivering shoulders raised and her chin resting on top of her bag, her gaze pointing forward. It seemed to be a comfortable position, but it emanated a vibe that she was wary of him.

"I should tell Dad to make the roof on the waiting shed wider. Didn't notice that it wasn't that weatherproof," he said as he stepped on the gas, driving at his usual speed. "Where do you live now?" he asked.

"Same place," she replied curtly.

"Guess you can't leave that house, huh?"

Okay, when did the atmosphere suddenly become awkward? Vanessa was chatty earlier and now she was as silent as a mouse. He looked at her from the corner of his eye and saw her squirm slightly as if she was startled. Thinking it was his speed, he adjusted the speed to a pace a tad slower. He remembered one of his girls complaining about his speed once, that it might get them caught by an officer. He glanced at her and saw that her tense shoulders loosened but remained shivering.

He lounged his back on his seat, turning up the heater. The king was attempting to appease his passenger princess.

The rain struck hard earlier, but now it was starting to simmer down to only a small intensity. The dark clouds were starting to disperse at a turtle's pace and were becoming lighter in density, the sky imminently gone from a heavy hue of grey into nearly ocean blue. Darkness dawned and metastasized all over. Streets. Shops. Salons. Shelters.

Friso had his eyes set on the road, focused, but it didn't stop him from admiring the busy streets before him. The street lights and neon signs were switched open, helping the vehicles in illuminating the streets. The coldness dipped, spread, and concentrated that people outside were starting to breathe out wisps of misty clouds from their noses and lips.

He slackened his push on the pedal when he realized that he was approaching a long queue of cars, and his was being followed by another. Ear-splitting honks engendered by impatient drivers were honking their cars as if it could get them through. Fucking traffic. Friso huffed a deep breath, even he was frustrated with what he just got into. They were at least five cars away from the stop sign. He already took the shortest route to her house to escape traffic, but the situation seemed inevitable.

He glanced at the soaked fae beside him and saw that she was now on her phone, typing so vehemently. He put an elbow on the window at his side, admiring the gloomy beauty of the rainy Brooklyn. But time passed and not an inch was moved, the rain remained to tap on his window in a consistent rhythm, only to be absolved by the wipers. Unlike the rain, Friso's patience dwindled, and his interest in the relaxing scene soon became weary.
