Captive Of The Alpha
Chapter 109: The End

Despite having had six pregnancies, five of them successful, Nebraska was not adjusted to the excessive attention she was receiving in her new herd. It was really stressful for her. And she meant that in both a good way and a bad way.

From the moment she woke up she had Hades checking her every move, and she even had to growl at him to at least let her go to the bathroom alone. The word intimacy was something she was slowly losing and she liked her space.

And it wasn’t that she didn’t like the attention, it was just that there was so much of it that she was getting overwhelmed. And it wasn’t just because of Hades, even Sara was there every morning to attend to her, comb her hair, help her dress her and so on. Nebraska had depended on herself all her life, so having someone to do that was really strange and uncomfortable.

As a result, she always ended up running away to any side of the herd just to breathe. Hades always had a lot of work to do. There were days when they didn’t even see each other much except at night and he would fall into bed so tired that she was the one who cleaned and changed him, but it was really strange how now that she was halfway through her pregnancy, he had much less work to do. Suspicious.

And not only that. Her sons had allied with their father to keep her in their sights. So when she ran away she always had one of her pups after her. So Nebraska would end up so psychologically exhausted that she would let them drag her back to the bedroom or the living room where they would keep her calm and bring her all kinds of food and concoctions.

The omega partly understood Hades. He was afraid of losing his puppy again. He had had very bad experiences in the past. But she was not one of the she-wolves he had been with before, she was stronger, she was an omega and besides, her daughter, inside her, was growing strong. She felt her every day and how her power was growing. So the excessive care was too much of an exaggeration.

Although it was all until one day when, running away from her children who wanted to give her a dark drink, which made every hair on her body stand on end and which Caesar had ordered, she came across Leoxi. Her mind lit up and grabbing the wolf by the hand she pulled him back into the room and covered his mouth so he wouldn’t make a sound, after slamming him against the already closed door.

She put her other finger to her lips signalling silence and once her cubs had passed by without noticing where their mother had been hiding, she released the twin.

-It’s only because my brother and I get along, otherwise I can assure you that your alpha would kill me in a heartbeat if he found you here. Hades is quite possessive when he wants to be.

Nebraska raised an eyebrow.

-You’re telling me? I’ve been running from him and his pack since I got pregnant. He won’t let me live.

-But you love this,” Leoxi’s tone was amused.

Nebraska said nothing but smiled sideways.

-Keep it quiet,” she said after walking to the couch in the room and plopping down to lie down. She draped one arm over her eyes and the other hand caressed her now sizable belly, “I’ll rest here for a while. I’m sure it’s the place where he’ll be least likely to look for me.

Leoxi sighed. It wasn’t as if he could tell her anything.

-I’ll keep it a secret, but if my brother replaces out, I hope he’ll cover for me.

Nebraska gave a thumbs up in affirmation and settled down to rest in some peace. And all was well, she was able to hide from everyone for the whole week, until one fine day she came out of the room after she’d slept and bumped into Layan. Everyone with Layan.

Nebraska’s eyes opened wide as his hands grabbed her before she fell to the ground.

-What, trading your a*****e husband for his brother? I don’t think that’s a bad choice. The commander of this pack has more brain cells than the alpha here,” he said mockingly, earning a kick from the she-wolf, “Ah, Nebraska, don’t be so violent. Being with Hades has rubbed off on you,” the wolf rubbed his injured calf.

Nebraska turned up her nose and walked past him.

-You deserve it. Don’t offend Hades,” she walked down the hall.

-Come on, honey, they’re just white offenses, it’s not like he’s going to… Hey, Hades,” she said, pausing with her hands in her trousers pockets.

And Nebraska was so distracted that she almost collided with the large body of the alpha that would appear in front of them as they turned down the hall.

-Careful,” he grabbed her shoulders and then, wasting no time, pulled her to him by wrapping his arm around her waist.

-Please don’t start with the melcocha, I’m here,” Layan protested.

Hades barely flinched.

-You can leave if it bothers you. I have to talk to my wife.

Layan then grinned damnably and was about to retaliate for the throbbing pain in his calf.

-Sure, ask her to explain why she’s coming out of your brother’s room,” he said.

He added fuel to the fire. Hades stood still, tense and blinking several times before lowering his head to look at his wife. She had a calm violet gaze.

-I had to hide from you and what better place than in your brother’s room. So don’t even think anything else strange.

Hades shuddered.

-I didn’t think anything weird,” he justified himself.

-She made a move and released her grip on Hades, who knew what she was going to do.

Nebraska turned and walked wolfishly towards Layan. The red-haired alpha didn’t know why but he took two steps back. The queen was a very unpredictable person and no one knew what was going through her mind. Not even Hades.

So it didn’t come as a surprise that she stopped in front of him and at the same time raised her fist and buried it in his stomach with unnatural force.

-Nebraska you… -I was well trained when I was a puppy.

-I was well trained as a puppy,” she smiled.

Layan was about to protest but suddenly his world went black, and he vanished in front of the two wolves. Nebraska looked down at Layan’s now unconscious body as he fell to the ground.

-Hades, I didn’t hit him that hard,” she called for support from her husband behind her.

The alpha approached Layan’s limp body and felt for a pulse.

-He’s alive. What a pity.

-Nebraska tapped him on the shoulder with a faint smile because when she’d hit him she’d felt the power residing in her stomach move in the alpha’s direction. Something was going to happen but only the alpha and his cub would know that.

-So what do we do with him? Take him to my brother’s room,” Hades threw the barb.

Nebraska raised an eyebrow.

-Don’t make it an issue. And don’t scold your brother. I snuck into his room.

Hades kissed her cheek soundly.

-I’ll let it slide this time, my she-wolf, but don’t sleep in any other wolf’s room but mine or your children’s, or I’ll get really jealous.

And Nebraska’s eyes sparkled. Although she knew how her husband got when he got jealous.

Layan opened his eyes and instead of lying on the ground or somewhere else, he found himself in a large meadow full of white flowers. Now that was really new to him. He sat up feeling his body light, so light that he hardly needed to breathe. Was this an illusion or a dream?

He could not define it, but there was one thing he could say. There was an unknown feeling inside his chest that filled him with happiness. He didn’t understand it because the last thing he remembered was that Nebraska had knocked him out and there was nothing funny or happy about that.

He looked from one side to the other without replaceing any trace of life but himself. Only the prairie stretched much further around him. He pushed his hair back to clear his forehead.

Where was he really? What a strange dream he was having.

But could dreams smell? Because the delicious fragrance that suddenly reached his nose almost drove him crazy. Layan looked everywhere without replaceing anything.

He started to run following the smell. His chest was pounding. The fragrance was soft, flowery but at the same time alluring and made him growl. He kept running until he stopped suddenly.

In the distance he saw something that made him gasp. A black spot rippling through the whiteness of her dress that was lost in the field of white flowers.

And though Layan knew that this was only a dream, that he would not remember it later, he could only run over and embrace the figure that lay there in his arms. And as he absorbed the delicious fragrance he opened his lips and one word, just one word came from his lips.

-Mia-
