Siran put on his shirt, aware that the day was young and he still had things to do, but he left satisfied, leaving his wife with a radiant smile on the bed wrapped between the sheets and basking in her half-dressed figure.

-Don’t worry about hurrying, Hades is well entertained with his new acquisition. It’s been a long time since I’ve seen him this motivated.

The beta brushed his blond hair back into the beautiful, immaculate cascade down to the nape of his neck, which Sara loved to tousle just to tease him.

-Could you not mention that she-wolf to me, I still remember when she attacked him?

-As spiteful as ever. She had no control over herself.

-Sara, let’s not talk about it, I don’t want to spend the rest of the day in a bad mood.

Siran had to stop the pillow that was directed at him.

-But what…

The she-wolf had sat up in bed and was calling out to him with her finger.

He sighed and moved closer, letting her pull him by his shirt and place a k**s on his lips.

-No more snarling wolf,” she smiled against his mouth, “Or I’ll punish you.

-I’d like to see that,” he kissed her again, leaving her on the bed and walking towards the door, if he stayed there I don’t think he would be able to complete the tasks he had left for the day, and for sure his alpha would scold him, after all, going out of his way to satisfy certain needs was not the appropriate thing to do.

Sara rubbed against the pillow of her wolf who still lay beside her and breathed in her husband’s scent. She adored him. She loved every part of him and would fight tooth and nail if they tried to take him from her. Memories of her past came back to her and she smiled. She had suffered, but it had paid off in the end. She just hoped that in the next heat she could have pups, she was sure it would make Siran more flexible. She rolled onto her back and closed her eyes for a moment letting her mind drift back several years.

She walked on the snow, white, pure, cold, cruel and lifeless. The frozen air penetrated every cell of his young body. His guts had long since stopped rumbling as he realised that nourishment was nil.

So it was. Now she was alone in that remote, inhospitable place.

On the afternoon of a few days ago, her father had asked her to go for a run. She had refused as always, her relationship with him was not exactly rosy. However, at her mother’s insistence, she had no choice but to go with him. She didn’t know how many kilometres it had been, but when she reached the edge of a ravine, her father had pushed her and left her to her fate.

Now she was alone. A she-wolf just coming of age, small and unprotected, walking aimlessly.

She didn’t know how to get back, her father had taken her to a place she didn’t know and the trail had dissolved in the snow. She was tired and broken. Her family had been able to abandon her just because she had failed to live up to their expectations. She sat on her hind legs and licked her front paws to remove traces of b***d from her wounds.

She let out a pitiful whimper, another. He wanted to be home, with his pack.

In the distance she felt the branches snapping.

Sara stepped back, her body sticking to the ground as a huge, dark furred wolf came into view through the snowflakes. Her first thought was to run, to escape, but it would be useless. She would be caught in seconds.

The wolf approached with no sign of aggression, its steps slow and cautious. Sara turned on her back, showing her neck in total submission. The fear instilled in her by the animal vibrated in her b***d.

The dog looked down at her and rubbed his nose between her neck, sniffing her and realising what a puppy she was. Rising to his feet, he turned and motioned for her to follow him.

She hesitated at the action but his growl made her react and follow him. To cross him would be tantamount to death and she felt more at ease with this stranger than even with her parents.

They may have walked for hours. Her paws began to ache again and she thought she would stay behind. But the guide would stop and wait for her until she was close again and resume the walk.

After several kilometres, a small camp on the ledge of a large rock, with two tents and a campfire, came into view and that was where they headed.

Siran stopped what he was doing and could not believe his eyes. His alpha walking towards him with a smaller wolf behind. A female, a very puppy. The scent of youth yet to reach her first rut surrounded her and he could feel it. He growled. What the hell was he doing picking off more individuals. Already the herd was large.

-What madness are you doing now,” he retorted to his alpha when they arrived.

Hades regained his human form and began to dress without paying much attention to his not so young beta.

-Shut up Siran ordered him calmly picking up an extra set of clothes and placed it in front of her, kneeling down. She was very small.

-Put this on, we’ll feed you later. I am Hades. Alpha of the Silver pack, you are now under my protection. You have nothing to fear.

Sara looked at him and the truth was reflected in her beautiful eyes. She wagged her tail and began to transform slower than normal, feeling her bones creak and ligaments stretch.

His barely developed, adolescent body shivered in the winter cold and he grabbed the pieces of clothing and put them on as quickly as he could, being so young he was not yet able to regulate his body temperature, unlike an adult wolf.

-Hell, Hades,” that voice again scolding her saviour, “Sometimes I wonder what goes through your mind, being spoiled and overprotective of the pups will one of these days lead you to your grave,” the tall, thin but broad-shouldered man with somewhat short, neatly combed hair stopped beside her and gave her a glance, “And you,” he addressed her with hardly any interest, “What’s your name?

Sara was speechless for a moment. Her eyes sparkled and her heart beat like it hadn’t for a long time, and with an energy she didn’t know where it came from, she jumped up and clung to the wolf’s neck under his surprised gaze, wrapping her legs around his narrow waist.

-You – he grinned from ear to ear, showing a row of white teeth – you will be the father of my children.
