There was a phrase that said: cupid has bewitched me, and that’s what Nebraska thought when she heard Hades. She turned her face the other way with a slight grin. This had taken her by surprise and with her defences down.

-Nebraska,” he called to her when he noticed her change in demeanour.

-Nothing,” she waved her hand to play it down, but the blush wouldn’t go down, and he noticed it, but said nothing. I’m sure she thought he would only accept her, and her children too, but that he would accept to adopt them was a totally different thing.

-Can I ask you some questions,” this time it was the wolf who wanted to do the questioning.

-Wasn’t I the one who could ask them,” the mocking tone rare in her filled him with amusement.

-The idea of killing him was out of the question, only if she asked him to, he would give in, he had done the unimaginable to her, but he was still the wolf that had once occupied her side.

Her countenance remained relaxed, though her voice came out tight.

-Just because you’re married to someone and he’s the father of your children doesn’t mean I loved him. Ours was more a marriage of convenience for our parents than affection. I knew him from a very young age and he was by my side for many years, but liking and love were not part of the formula.

Hades nodded in relieved understanding, a weight lifted from his shoulders. Now he could rip her throat out without remorse.

Nebraska took a few seconds to respond, searching for exactly what to say.

She nodded slightly.

She affirmed.

-He kissed me. ….- she was dragged away and startled to see the alpha’s initial intention to change the subject completely.

Hearing him follow her, she knew she had won.

-Kill him when he visits you again,” she consoled him even as she breathed a sigh of relief.

Then Layan said that she was the intense one, although she had realised something else, Hades was easily manipulated by her, she would write that down for the future, one had to have cards up one’s sleeve, and even more so for her as cautious as she was.
