Captive Of The Alpha -
Chapter 5
Alan and Noa were running as fast as their legs would allow. Alan was dragging his brother through the woods dodging trees with difficulty over the swampy ground after the rain. They had made the worst mistake of their entire lives.
They had thought that all the brothers were together in this cause, in saving their mother from the clutches of the alpha, but how deluded they had been. Betrayal hurt and even more so when it was the first time. They had not yet come out of the shock of seeing the condition the former queen was in when returning to their room they had seen their eldest brother and firstborn of the five. Rodrigo. Like his father he ignored them and if he could humiliate them he did so, so he had been taught. He was so loyal to his father that it was disgusting to see him, but he was still his brother and son of that woman.
That night things had gotten out of control, telling the wolf that they knew where his mother was looking for his support had been a mistake. They had not finished the sentence and he had left them with the word in their mouths, disappearing down the hallway ignoring them. Then five soldiers charged at them. They didn’t want to imagine that their brother was part of it. He couldn’t be so heartless as to do that to his own family.
They managed to barely escape through one of the back doors without being able to say anything to Nicholas or Catherine. They had to get out of there and ask for help from the only person who would be able to put an end to it all, before they lost their necks.
They had not gone many meters into the perimeters of the silver pack when three wolves had jumped on their backs and led them to where their alpha and magnate would condemn them.
The door to Hades’ office opened, letting in his twin, looking worn and with dark circles under his eyes. The alpha made him sit down and offered him a glass with a drink and leaned back on the edge of the table.
-Alpha, I have important news for you, you won’t believe what I found out.
-Shoot-
Alan looked at his plate of food and didn’t feel like taking a bite, would his mother have food, would she be cold, would she have a bed to sleep in? He had never met her, he had no idea what motherly warmth was, but something inside him longed to be by her side ever since they had stood in front of that door. His inner wolf felt uneasy, wanting to go back to those catacombs and claw at the door until he could get through it, and he knew his younger brother felt the same way. Noa wasn’t one to express his feelings unless it was someone he trusted a lot, but to him she was an open book. He felt her hand on his shoulder and looked at him. He wasn’t eating either. Those had been two very difficult days.
The footsteps in his room made them alert and raised their spirits.
The footsteps in their room made them alert and they looked up to meet the alpha and his beta.
-You and I are going to have a long conversation, so make yourselves comfortable,” Hades sat down on the couch in front of them and crossed his legs as he frowned at the sight of their untouched plates.
-They informed me that they have not wanted to eat anything since they arrived.
He received no response and continued
-As it was, I’ve been thinking about the proposal they made to me,” the puppies straightened their tense backs. I sent one of my trusted men to infiltrate their pack and what a surprise I got. Who knew there was a revolution forming in a regime as rigid as your people’s?
-How did you know? Alan opened his eyes in surprise. It had only been two days and that wolf was informed of everything that was hidden in the shadows.
-My staff has its methods. By the way, he told me to give this to you.
His beta walked towards them and handed them a letter. Noa removed the envelope and read the crumpled paper in her brother’s handwriting. When she finished she swallowed dryly as did her family member.
-Well, what do you think?
The puppies were in a trance. That man was more dangerous than he appeared. In such a short time he had dismembered the secret they kept so closely and, as the letter said, he had made moves to get to the rest of the herd members. Nicholas, asked them to do what they could to help the alpha, to put their trust in them, and that he was glad they were doing well after his disappearance. Though things were hectic after someone mentioned a certain subject to the alpha.
-I sent a messenger to finalize the last details for the supposed coup d’état your brother is planning.
-So you finally believe us,” Noa clenched the paper in her hand and let out a sigh, relaxing after days of tension, “Thank you alpha Hades, we don’t know how to return the favor.
-Favor?” she settled herself more on the couch “I never said my help was free-
The boys froze. They already knew that in life things don’t always turn out so easy.
-Don’t look at me like that, I’ll risk the members of my pack, I’ll have to convince the Council and I won’t get anything in return. Don’t underestimate me, cubs. I am not alpha for the fun of it.
-He will receive our pack,” Noa said logically. If an alpha challenged another alpha and won, his family became part of him.
-I know that, but it’s not enough.
They didn’t know what to answer, what else they wanted, they couldn’t give anything else, their hands were empty.
-You mentioned that her mother was the former queen and the only pure omega of her wolves- the boys attended fearing what was to come- In that case…I want her-
