Nervous. Perhaps that was the right word for Hades.

Everyone who saw him thought he was fine, normal, his alpha as always, serious, elegant, beautiful, unapproachable, immaculate, self-assured, kind, fair, but no one could imagine the chaos that was inside him. The reason. Their wedding would be tomorrow. Under the moon.

He couldn’t be happier about that fact. In spite of having some problems to solve everything was turning out with positive steps. He had managed in the last few days to stop Rodrigo from confining himself to his room and at least accompanying them at lunch and dinner without wanting to get up as early as possible, even accepting a caress on the head from his mother from time to time.

For her part, things with Catalina were neither getting better nor worse, she was at a complete standstill. The girl would not budge. She refused to apologise to Nebraska for taking her to such a dangerous place when he was in heat or to accept the fact that she would not be queen.

He had had to use all the patience he had and didn’t have to deal with her and not do something he would regret later. Not yet being Nebraska’s husband, he could not punish her with the methods that her language, actions, and disrespect for her elders, deserved.

Not that he was in favour of violence, but a good spanking now and then would set the more unruly pups on their way. He had been left with no choice but to confine her to her room until she relented. She may have been the little princess to her older siblings, but she had been spoiled too much by Rudoc, right now she seemed like nothing more than a monster trying to destroy their hard-earned happiness and stability.

As for her omega, she had not a single complaint. After having had brief, somewhat intense moments, the atmosphere between them was somewhat more relaxed, ironically enough.

She no longer bristled every time she felt him close or his scent was too potent, something she controlled by being around him. He could steal k****s from her whenever he could, he loved the frown she made even though she didn’t refuse or retort. She was simply the perfect wolf in his life. She might not be the most beautiful and the most voluminous but he had to admit that he was in love with her, or he wouldn’t think about holding her in his arms all the time. Now the question that was tormenting him and that night would not go away.

-I heard that you went to see Catalina, how did it go?

-If she had brought out some quality in me I think we’d understand each other better, but she’s the spitting image of her father when she was young,” he sighed, “We didn’t even get to the second word when I had to growl at her, imposing myself on her, she’s so used to getting her own way.

Lately it was becoming a habit, since she wasn’t going to his room, for him to go to hers and sit on her bed while she picked up things here and there, cleaned up or just lay on the edge of the dresser. Like now, while he ate something, this time sultanas that he carried from his hand to his mouth, and still had a full bowl next to him.

Nervous. Perhaps that was the right word for Hades.

Everyone who saw him thought he was fine, normal, his alpha as always, serious, elegant, beautiful, unapproachable, immaculate, self-assured, kind, righteous, but no one could imagine the chaos that was his inner self. The reason. Their wedding would be tomorrow. Under the moon.

Hades didn’t like them, he thought they were too sweet and he wasn’t a sugar lover, it wasn’t good for his metabolism, if it were meat it would be different.

-Do you think it’s appropriate for him to attend the wedding? He might make a fuss.

-I don’t know, you’re the alpha, you decide,” she continued to chew as if what they were talking about was a casual conversation, but Hades noticed the tension in her shoulders.

-Are you nervous about tomorrow,” he smiled at her.

She didn’t answer him, he had noticed that she didn’t speak when she wanted to avoid a comment where the answer was almost always positive.

-Don’t worry, everything is going to be fine, the members of the pack have accepted you well and have welcomed the members of yours. Sara is taking care of everything and her husband won’t let any detail slip. Also tomorrow the members of the other herds are arriving with some guests so you will have plenty of presents.

-The question made him grunt but he nodded his head, “Jealous?” she provoked him again by putting another sultana in his mouth.

Hades sighed and stood up and stood in front of her who only looked up slowly.

-Promise me you’ll stay away from him,” he said.

-That’s like me making you promise that you won’t let any she-wolf come near you,” she replied in a deep voice, “Layan is a friend and I owe it to him to be recovered now, you shouldn’t fight with him.

-Are you going to defend him,” Hade moved closer to her until he could feel her breath, “Are you going to defend another wolf in front of the one who is going to be your mate for the rest of your life?

Nebraska didn’t move, barely chewing the fresh sultana in her mouth that was still on her tongue.

-If you’re the one who sees things where there aren’t,” she said softly, “If you’re jealous of me being with Layan or anyone else, it means you don’t trust how faithful I can be,” she blinked slowly and with her hand she grabbed the collar of his shirt and squeezed it, making their bodies reflexively cling together, “I’m faithful to my mate, don’t take me for just anyone else.

Hades heard no annoyance in her voice but he knew well that the tone of her words told him not to cross the line. If he was an alpha, she was an omega with so many secrets she could kill him. Beings not to be trifled with.

They stared at each other for a few seconds, a challenge of strengths, two beasts that could be dominant in their own way. The wolf didn’t like the atmosphere and let out a long breath to touch his lips to hers. Nebraska simply let him. It was a light touch, barely a caress but as sensual as it was intimate.

-I will be your mate, and I will be faithful to you for the rest of my days,” Hades said almost in a whisper.

The omega recognised the words, those spoken under oath when a wedding ceremony was held, only meant for those of high status.

-I will be your companion, and I will be faithful to you for the rest of my days,” she followed him.

Hades smiled in pleasure and intensified the k**s. At no time did their arms touch, her arms remained outstretched while his leaned on the edge of the dresser on either side of her allowing their faces to be at the same height.

-Nebraska, are you in love with me,” he blurted out, which caught her off guard.

He waited for a response, but she lowered her head hesitantly.

-You’re not going to answer me,” she said, somewhat disappointed.

This was one of the few exceptions where she was silent and the answer was not clear. It was still too early for such a feeling to be inside her. She would have to work harder to achieve more than her trust.

Pushing those thoughts aside, he kissed that lower l*p he loved so much. She responded softly, as if still having doubts about the intimacy they were to share. He forced his way in and thrust his tongue in eagerly causing her to throw her head back feeling the sweet taste still lingering in her mouth, until it became more intense as she bit down on something with her teeth. She broke away and brought a hand up to them.

Nebraska raised an eyebrow as she took a lump of sultanas from the bowl beside her and resumed eating, innocently. She had a special talent for breaking the mood that sometimes irritated and warmed him at the same time. Hades savoured, frowning, until the taste was gone and he looked at her, not very pleased.

-Sultanas are good for your health, don’t you like them?

-She can be very unromantic when it suits you,” the wolf growled.

-If I leave you to do what you want, and tonight I want to sleep, I don’t know when I’ll be able to do it again.

-It’s not my fault that you smell sweeter lately and that our body chemistry is intense,” he said, brushing his lips against her pale cheek, kissing her and then returning to his cavity when the door was flung open.

-You, out,” Sara was standing in the doorway with her hands on her h**s, “The bride has to rest before the wedding, you males are too much in those moments and she needs energy. What do you think we can do with so many rounds? You insatiable bastards.

Nebraska managed to slip under Hades’ arm to get some distance, taking advantage of the fact that she had taken him by surprise. They both heard the alpha sigh.

-Just because it’s today I’ll leave, but tomorrow you won’t be able to escape,” and with those words he went off to Sara’s side, growling at her, but she only stuck her tongue out at him.

-Sara entered the room with her hair in a mess.

Nebraska sat on the bed with the bowl, still eating.

-What do you say,” she smiled faintly, “You saved me from the beast.
