Captive Of The Alpha -
Chapter 86
-AHHHHHHHHHHHHH- a scream echoed throughout the mansion making the hair of all the wolves inside stand on end.
Nebraska had tried her best to hold the screams in her mouth but this last one was impossible making her lose all her strength and fall onto the bed with her body drenched in sweat. Panting heavily as a cry reached her ears. Sara ran over and ran a dry cloth over his forehead and neck in an attempt to cool him down.
The omega had had five previous births and one miscarriage but none as difficult as this one. The pregnancy hadn’t been bad. The months had passed quietly as she watched her belly grow, heard her husband fight because she wanted to do things and he wouldn’t let her and her children fought with their father to make a schedule to share with their mother, claiming he was hogging her all to himself, which wasn’t true.
The mansion had become a literal battlefield and there were times when she would sneak into Sara’s or Leoxi’s room to have some quiet time, hiding from her husband and children. The beta and the Commander would take pity on the omega and leave her there without caring if they had to sleep elsewhere, or lie to their alpha. They were suffocating her and Nebraska needed space.
Layan had threatened to take her away if they kept bothering her, but that had only fanned the flames, so the cure had been worse than the disease. Now all those wolves were waiting impatiently on the other side of the door while she had just given birth.
Caesar came over and sat on the edge of the bed with a small creature in his arms covered by clean sheets and placed it next to Nebraska for her to see. The omega was extremely weak so she could only turn her face with a slight smile and reach out her hand to touch the little face. The little girl’s big silver eyes were wide open and she grasped her mother’s finger tightly, bringing it to her mouth and smiling as she kicked.
-She’s beautiful.” Sara had tears in her eyes.
-Yes, she is beautiful.” Nebraska was in the same state. Her daughter was strong, healthy, beautiful.
She had felt that when she had come out all the power she had gained from the alphas’ b***d had gone with her, leaving her limp and weak. She would get better, but she worried that her daughter would not be able to cope with that power. But for the moment all seemed calm. Caesar checked Nebraska’s pulse and part of her body.
-My queen, she needs rest, she must be very exhausted, she was almost all day to give birth,” the wolf frowned, “Don’t worry, your daughter is in good hands and when she opens her eyes she will be by your side,” he comforted her knowing the omega’s hidden fears.
The words had an immediate effect and although inside she still refused to sleep, her eyes closed and she was plunged into total unconsciousness. Caesar sighed and asked Sara and the other she-wolves to help clean her up and change the sheets for when she woke up. He took the pup in his arms and walked to the door. There were murmurs outside so she knew there would be a huge ruckus but the girl’s smiling face for some reason took away her insecurities.
She opened the door and sure enough the whole family, including the beta of the pack and the red-haired alpha, were scattered around waiting for the final news. Seeing him appear with a bundle in his arms they approached. Hades was the first to stand in front of him followed by the four cubs, Leoxi, Siran, Celesia with Saisen and lastly Layan who stood watching from afar.
He was afraid to approach. He still remembered the feeling he had had with the cub and how every night her words echoed in his mind, waking up in a sweat in the middle of the night. Yet he couldn’t reciprocate those feelings. He had a moral compass. He would not take the daughter just because he had failed the mother. He could be told many things but he respected that pattern even if the wolves, with all their laws, would let certain things pass.
Hades was speechless before the beauty he carried in his arms. She was a miniature Nebraska, pink lips, defiant little nose, but there was no doubt that her orbs were his. He lowered his arms a little so that the puppies Noa and Alan could see her up close, while behind them Nicolas smiled a touched smile and Rodrigo hesitated as to whether it was right to touch her. Only after Hades insisted did he rub the fat cheek and a tear ran down his own. Nico saw this and shook his brother’s head and pulled away before he could protest. It had been difficult but they were both working on their relationship.
Leoxi patted his brother’s back glad to have a niece while Celesia took the girl and scolded Saisen for wanting to play with her, but the wolf was too rough. Siran bit his nail knowing what he had to work on with his wife later. He never thought a puppy could be so adorable. Finally the puppy ended up in Layan’s arms once Celesia scolded Hades that he was the one to thank for the miracle as Layan had helped Nebraska so much.
The wolf first hesitated but ended up with the baby next to him. As soon as he made contact her presence shifted inside him like that time and he had to put up a barrier using all his strength. She was relentless even if she had just been born.
-You can’t do that,” she whispered, “When you’re older, we’ll talk.
For the moment he could do nothing. The little wolf was too small and wouldn’t understand, but when she was old enough he would reject her properly so she could look for someone who really deserved her. He was not that wolf, he did not want her to see herself as her mother’s replacement. Immediately the presence withdrew from her body and Priscilla began to cry loudly and Hades had to take her in his arms but was unable to stop her crying.
-Alpha, inside, take her to her mother,” ordered Caesar.
No one understood what had happened but as soon as she was near a sleeping Nebraska the baby let out two soft sobs and calmed down, clutching with her fingers one of her mother’s now remembered locks and staying still until she fell asleep. Hades ran his fingertips over his wife’s tired face and finished settling the baby to announce that all was well to those who had been left outside.
Hours later Hades was arranging the clothes for his wife to change while their four cubs surrounded their mother who was talking to them as she nursed her fifth cub. It was touching to see and he realised he would need to buy a bigger bed. Once they left after saying goodbye Hades took Priscilla in his arms to rest Nebraska and put her in her little bed playing with her fingers until she closed her little eyes.
He came over and sat down next to his wife to k**s her forehead.
-Are you happy,” she asked.
-As never in my life, I have five restless puppies to take care of and a complicated wife to raise,” he joked, getting a nudge, “But yes, I wouldn’t change anything I have now.
Nebraska put a hand on the back of his neck and pulled him in for a k**s.
-Hold me,” she demanded, “Like there’s no tomorrow.
-Forever, my wolf.
On with the extras. They don’t have a logical timeline, they take place during and after the book.
