Nebraska knew a lot of things. She was a smart wolf who was a quick learner. She knew about packs, she knew about wolf anatomy, she had learned how to try to be a good mother to her four older children and her new two-year-old pup Priscilla.

But there was one thing she didn’t know…and that was what to get her husband for his birthday.

And that was breaking her head into a thousand pieces. Because she wanted to give Hades something very, very special. He deserved it and she had no idea she could live up to it.

-Na…Rei…na…Reina,” Leoxi’s voice snapped her out of her lag.

She raised her head and blinked several times.

-What’s wrong?” she regained her composure.

Leoxi sat down across the desk from her and placed some papers in front of her.

-The wolf and she were currently working on organizing the pack guard to lighten Hades’ workload. “She’s been a little amused since we told her about our birthday two days ago,” Nebraska thought she’d dissimulated him.

Nebraska thought she had covered it up well, but apparently she hadn’t. She sighed and leaned back. She sighed and leaned back in her chair.

She was not only worried now about the gift, but about what her husband would like during s*x. Because she wanted to please him…badly.

Nebraska left a k**s on Priscilla’s cheek in her arms and then passed it to Nicolas. Today it was her turn.

-No more stories until the wee hours of the morning. I’ll tell Hades to check with his ear,” he told them both. He had already put Noa and Alan to bed, although Rodrigo wasn’t in his room. He had seen him in the afternoon with Leoxi so he didn’t worry. She had to give him some space.

She nodded and looked at Nicolas.

Once they were inside the room Nebraska sighed. She had to go back to the room, but after the conversation of the afternoon she wasn’t sure she wanted to. She was a wolf who was usually pretty confident, so why did she feel this way?

Being in a relationship was really hard.

The she-wolf was so deep in thought that she was startled by the shock she received. A laugh from Sara made her look back with a frown.

-Sara,” he warned her, but she simply slipped her arm over his shoulders.

-Leoxi left me with the gossip,” she whispered in his ear.

Nebraska’s eyes widened.

-That fucker,” she growled, receiving a laugh from Sara.

-He saw you worried sick and wanted you to know what was going on. He saw how worried you were and wanted to help you.

Nebraska took a deep breath and gave up. They were…like that.

Nebraska couldn’t take off her shocked face.

-I’m not going to wear that,” she shook her head.

Sara smiled mischievously and approached without letting go of the pieces of cloth in her hands.

-Do you know how I got Siran to be mine once and for all,” her eyes sparkled, “I had one that one of the she-wolves made for me after this very council. I was still a virgin at the time but I had declared that I would marry him, but the bastard was so hard as nails that he barely listened to me. At least he didn’t stay when I snuck into the room to sleep with him. Of course, I had help from Hades who ordered him not to throw me out,” he chuckled between memories.

-I think I can imagine the rest of the story.

-Well, if you can imagine that, you’re right. He put it on me, I snuck into his bed and look how effective it was that night I didn’t leave his room as a virgin. After that we started dating and now we are happily married. My wolf is very stubborn but I can bring him down.

She plopped down next to Nebraska and put the thing in her hands.

-This is a new one. I had it made but didn’t have time to try it out. I’m sure you’ll get better use out of it. Besides, Hades’ favourite colour is red, and this one is infarct,” she pointed to the garments, which were of such fine lace that they didn’t even qualify as clothing.

Nebraska was still deadly serious.

-Are you sure?

Sara wrapped her arms around her neck and hugged her.

-Having insecurities is normal too, sweetheart. Even though you’re the queen, you’re a she-wolf and you’ve been through a lot. Besides I understand that Hades is…well…Hades and he’s an alpha, you might think he has high expectations but he doesn’t. He’s simpler than you think. He’s simpler than you think. And don’t listen to what Leoxi said. Hades is a patient person and enjoys what he can get at that moment to the fullest. Besides, Leoxi is not the best at giving advice. Hades came out of the bathroom with a sigh of relief and feeling rejuvenated. He’d had a powerful day at work but after this spurt he would have time to attend to his family. He didn’t replace Nebraska in the room, but given the time of day she must be putting her children to bed. He smiled and loved how devoted she was to the puppies and her precious daughter.

He laid the towel on the dresser and combed his long hair. She was grateful that it had grown a little and resumed its pleasing shape on her shoulders in soft waves. Noa and Alan had been so insistent on cutting the ends that she never imagined they would make such a mess of it. She remembered how it had gotten not only Nebraska. Sara had them running all over the pack because of the desecration of such a jewel of hair as she said.

He smiled when he heard the door open and the image of his wife appear. He couldn’t help but smile.

-My beautiful wife. At last I see you,” he walked over to her to embrace her.

Nebraska quickly stepped back, hiding Sara’s gift behind her back. Hades stood with his arms wide open, and a little confused.

-Something’s wrong?” his smile quickly faded and he became worried.

Nebraska thought quickly and turned away from him in the direction of the bathroom.

-Give me a moment, I don’t smell good, I’m going to take a bath.

And Hades was even more confused as he watched his wife disappear in front of him.
