Chapter 0025

Dylan pushed open Suzy's bedroom door, only to replace it empty. The brief spark of hope in his eyes dimmed instantly.

Suddenly, he heard a sound coming from the master bedroom.

That flicker of hope reignited, and he quickly changed direction.

Before opening the door, Dylan hesitated for a moment.

When the door swung open, he saw her sprawled out on the bed, arms and legs spread

wide.

A small smirk tugged at his lips before he quickly pressed them into a firm line. He walked over to the bedside and nudged the bedframe with his foot. “Get up."

The woman on the bed didn't stir, sound asleep.

"Get up!" he raised his voice, but still, no reaction.

She didn't even flinch, sleeping as peacefully as ever.

He reached out to shake her awake, but just before his hand made contact, he pulled back. " Fine, you're tired. We'll deal with this tomorrow."

She had taken up most of the bed, leaving little space to lie down, and he had no intention of sharing it with her.

Just as he was about to head to the guest room for the night, he felt a strong tug on his arm, yanking him back onto the bed.

"Suzy, what are you-"

“Don't move!” Suzy wrapped her arms and legs around Dylan, holding him tightly. “Let me hold you.” ...Was this the same Suzy who always acted so timid around him, barely daring to raise her voice?

It was then that Dylan caught the strong scent of alcohol on her.

So that was why she suddenly came back-she was drunk.

For three years, he had never seen her drink.

She had always played the part of the obedient, dutiful wife.

It had all been an act.

Her grip was shockingly strong, like an iron chain, making it nearly impossible for him to

break free. Dylan was caught off guard-how could someone so small have such strength?

After struggling for a while, he finally managed to shake her off, but in the next second, Suzy pulled him back again, and before he knew it, their lips met.

His mind went blank as if he'd forgotten how to think.

In three years of marriage, this was their first kiss.

Yet somehow, it felt oddly familiar.

Especially her lips-soft and warm-pulling him back to that night over three years ago. Realizing he had just confused her with Anne, Dylan's brows

furrowed sharply.

He tried to push her away, but instead of letting go, Suzy tightened her grip around his neck, deepening the kiss.

Dylan pressed his hands against her shoulders, using force to pull her back. “Suzy, stop using alcohol as an excuse to act crazy.

In an instant, Suzy flipped them over, pinning him beneath her.

One hand yanked at his tie, while the other grabbed his chin. “What's the big deal about kissing you? If you don't want me to, then who do you want to kiss?"

She lightly slapped his face, her tone teasing. “Consider yourself lucky. There are plenty of people who want me to kiss them, but I wouldn't even bother. So don't take it for granted!"

...Who wants you to kiss them?"

The question slipped out before he realized he'd completely missed the point.

Suzy smirked, full of arrogance. "Plenty.”

His eyes narrowed. "So, you've kissed a lot of people?"

"...You talk too much." She leaned in closer, her face inches from his. “Listen, you better behave, or you'll regret it."

As soon as the words left her mouth, she kissed him again, this time with a fierce, commanding intensity that left no room for resistance.

Something inside him stirred involuntarily.

Dylan's gaze darkened as he shoved her away once more. "Woman, my patience is running out..."

Suzy grabbed both his hands, pinning them above his head. “That's my line. I'm not known for being patient, so don't waste my time."

...Looks like liquor really does give cowards courage."

If

he were sober, she'd never dare speak to him like this.

"Coward?" Her eyes narrowed to slits. "Who are you calling a coward? Me? That word. doesn't exist in my dictionary! Tonight, I'll show you who the real coward is."

Fueled by his taunt, Suzy tore his shirt open in one swift motion, then silenced him with another fierce, determined kiss.

Dylan was left speechless.
