Chapter 0055

When Anne woke, her mind was blank.

She stared at the celling, utterly lost. She couldn't

ven remember her own name, her head

filled with one persistent question: "Who am I? Where am I?”

Suddenly, a sharp pain struck her head, as if something were gnawing inside her skull. The pain was intense, but it lasted barely a minute before it subsided, leaving her dazed mind flooded with fragments of memory.

A hospital–she was in a hospital.

Then she remembered Suzy saying she would send her back.

As brazen as Suzy was, she still feared Dylan.

Otherwise, why return her unharmed?

“Suzy, given such a perfect chance to get rid of me, and you didn't take it? Don't blame me for what comes next."

Her gaze hardened as she pulled out her phone, ready to call Dylan. But before she could dial his number, the door opened.

Seeing Dylan step in, she quickly threw back the covers and stumbled toward him, ready to fall into his arms. But just as she reached him, he stepped back.

"Mr. Dylan?"

His gaze looked cold... or was it just her imagination? She brushed off the thought and jumped straight into her story.

“Mr. Dylan, Suzy kidnapped me! She locked me in this dark, filthy basement and let rats crawl all over me. She threatened to kill me if I didn't stay away from you!"

Dylan stood there, watching her intently. His eyes, once indifferent, grew colder with each accusation against Suzy. "Are you finished?"

"What?"

That wasn't the reaction she'd expected.

Maybe he was just so furious he couldn't even speak?

Yes, that had to be it.

She pressed on, determined to stoke the fire. "She's been spying on us, Mr. Dylan. She never intended to help you cure me-she only kidnapped me to sabotage it. Remember how Red Falcon treated me last time? That was Suzy's doing too! She bribed Red Falcon, pretending it was for the cure while secretly trying to..." Chapter 0055

Slap!

She hadn't even finished her sentence when Dylan's hand struck her face.

The slap landed with such force that blood appeared at the corner of Anne's mouth, and her ears rang painfully. Stunned, she covered her cheek, struggling to process what had just happened. "Mr. Dylan..."

Dylan's expression was unreadable, but a cold, dangerous aura settled around him. His voice, as chilling as his gaze, cut through the silence. “Anne, saving me three years ago doesn't grant you a lifetime pass. "Mr. Dylan... what's wrong?"

She couldn't understand why his attitude had changed so drastically.

Without a word, he tossed a bank card at her. “Consider the debt from three years ago settled.”

And with that, he turned to leave.

Debt settled?

Panicked, Anne rushed after him, grabbing his arm. “Mr. Dylan, please, tell me what's wrong! Is there something I did? I'll change—just tell me!”

Dylan shook her off with a look of disgust, as though she were nothing more than trash. " Get out."

She stumbled backward, his shove sending her sprawling to the floor.

Clinging to her last bit of hope, she whimpered, "Mr. Dylan, I'm hurt..."

But Dylan didn't spare her even a glance. He simply opened the door and walked out.

"Mr. Dylan! Mr. Dylan..."

Desperately, Anne scrambled up to chase after him, but Desmond blocked her at the doorway.

"Desmond, please! Tell me what's going on-why is he treating me this way?"

Desmond rolled his eyes with exaggerated disdain. “Drop the act, Miss Wheeler. Honestly, your performance could use some work."

"You-"

Seeing her face twisted with anger, Desmond smirked and handed her a flash drive. “Want to know why my boss suddenly changed his tune? The answer's right here. Take your time watching."
