CEO Broke Down and Cried After I Divorced Him -
Chapter 0099
Chapter 0099
To Suzy's surprise, despite her harsh words, Dylan didn't get angry-instead, he actually began eating the leftovers.
After a brief pause, Suzy stood up. "Well, Mr. Dylan, it seems you're really hungry. Help yourself."
Dylan didn't stop her from leaving, but as she reached the door, his calm voice called after her. "How's Claude doing with the patent application?”
Suzy halted but didn't turn around. “The result will probably disappoint you."
Watching her retreating back, Dylan chuckled softly. "Then let's wait and see.
Suzy didn't respond, heading straight out without another glance. Dylan remained seated, even pouring himself a cup of tea. But just as he lifted it, the cup suddenly shattered in his
hand.
Fragments cut into his fingers, and blood began to drip, mixing with the tea. His dark eyes took on a cold, predatory glint.
In the elevator, Suzy considered her next steps, then pulled out her phone and called Riley. “Is everything going smoothly?"
“Do you even need to ask? Just one last signature and it'll be done!"
"Don't let your guard down
It wasn't that Suzy was overly cautious-it was that Dylan was truly insidious. And as it turned out, her instincts weren't wrong. That night, Riley's call came through.
“Boss, they just informed me that the final review didn't meet the requirements, and the patent application was rejected."
Just as expected.
Suzy, prepared for this, kept her tone steady. “Who was supposed to sign off last?”
"Mark Goodwin!"
Suzy let out a low laugh. "So, Dylan's interference brought us right back to square one, with the Goodwin family."
She had been strategizing how to get closer to the Goodwins, and Dylan's meddling had indirectly opened a path for her.
However...
It looked like she'd need to dig deeper into the connection between Dylan and Mark.
Previously, she hadn't been certain, but after this, she was sure their relationship wasn't simple
She decided not to have Riley handle the next steps; she'd take care of things herself. Originally, Suzy had planned to keep things under wraps from Claude, but now it seemed she'd have to bring him up to speed.
Suzy went to replace him, and she didn't knock on the door out of habit.
One glance inside, and she quickly stepped back out, her face warming at the sight she'd just caught. Although she thought of Claude as a brother, seeing a handsome man fresh out of the shower was still a bit overwhelming—especially given his physique...
“For someone who spends so much time in a wheelchair, he's got abs..... and eight of them!” she muttered to herself, though she didn't think much more of it.
When Claude finally called out, saying he was dressed and she could come in, she pushed
open
the door and walked in without hesitation.
"Sorry about that, Claude. I thought you'd already finished your shower since it's so late," she said, a bit sheepishly.
Usually, Claude bathed around nine, and it was already ten-thirty.
"No worries." Claude dismissed his attendant, who had helped him bathe and get dressed.
He turned to Suzy. “So, what's keeping you up at this hour?”
Suzy explained the situation with the patent application. "I was hoping to surprise you once it was approved, but it seems Dylan really did have the power to block it. Still, it's not all bad-it gives me another reason to get closer to the Goodwin family."
Claude didn't press her further, simply asking, "What do you need me to do?"
"Call the Goodwins and arrange for me to visit Mark on your behalf.”
Claude nodded. "Alright, I'll call them in the morning."
With everything settled, Suzy didn't linger, but before she left, she threw in a final bit of advice. “Don't stay up too late-get some sleep!"
