CEO's Tears Over Pregnancy Test Discovery -
Chapter 344
Stella's words left her momentarily at a loss for how to respond. Based on her understanding of Eve, she was simple-minded. As long as someone was kind to her, she would reciprocate that kindness tenfold. Yet, she had asked such a question. However, Eve's words did make sense. When they were still abroad, Stella did not know that Eve was Mr. George Gibson's granddaughter.
Eve was young and inexperienced in the outside world, with significant differences in lifestyle habits. She was not accustomed to it, lacked friends and often kept to herself. She was said to have grown up without parents, making her seem vulnerable and helpless, with a much more tragic background than most.
In contrast, Stella came from an affluent background, leading a comfortable life from childhood, and was doing well abroad. Someone like Eve needed help, and Stella could earn her admiration by providing it. Eve saw her as a support, and Stella felt a sense of accomplishment from that. She had always felt this way and had a harmonious relationship with Eve.
After returning here and learning that she was Mr. Gibson's granddaughter, she no longer felt as satisfied with her. Although she felt this way internally, she would not admit it outwardly.
She responded, "Is this how you see me? I consider you a friend, yet you doubt me. You've only been with Nina for a few days, and you're completely devoted to her. Have you ever considered my feelings?" "Do you know I was in danger yesterday? It was Nina who saved me!" Eve added.
When she was abroad, Stella was the first person to reach out to her, and despite interacting with many others, she still considered Stella her close friend.
At that time, Stella was always there for her, offering constant companionship and assistance but not yesterday. She was nowhere to be found.
Eve felt that Stella knew about it and deliberately did not show up. She always felt like Stella's past kindness was condescending. She simply enjoyed the feeling of being adored by the weak rather than genuinely caring.
When Eve mentioned she was in danger, Stella was visibly surprised but quickly put on a pleasant face and said, "In danger? Let me see if you're hurt."
Now that Eve no longer needed her concern, she stated, "I want to rest at home today. If you have nothing else, I won't accompany you any longer. Let me see you out!"
With that, Eve disregarded Stella's concern and walked into the bedroom, no longer displaying her previous warmth.
Stella saw her dismissive expression and promptly closed the door, feeling a twinge of discomfort. Her pride had taken a hit. When had Eve treated her like this before? With just one act of kindness from Nina, Eve completely wrote her off.
"Miss Jasper, let me escort you out," said the helper.
Stella had not been there for long before the helper began ushering her out. Stella was displeased. She was used to getting whatever she wanted since childhood and giving others what she could. Eve was one of them.
But now, this girl had turned against her. With a cold expression, Stella left the Gibson residence under the helper's urging.
"Miss Jasper, you're leaving so soon?" The driver asked as he saw only her coming out. "Weren't we supposed to take Miss Gibson out for dinner? Are we still going?"
Stella, full of frustration, replied, "I'm done with that. Don't bring her up to me. Even if she's from the Gibson family, big deal? I'm a Jasper. Why should I put up with her attitude? And remember when she was struggling abroad, who was there for her? Me! I stood by her when she needed someone the most. So why doesn't she show me some kindness? If she doesn't want to be friends, fine, there are plenty of others who will. Do I look like I'm short on friends? She ought to be thankful that I've been kind to her all this time!"
