CEO's Tears Over Pregnancy Test Discovery -
Chapter 946
Eventually, the bag covering Nina's head was removed. She saw the car's interior light up with a warm orange glow, revealing several men holding guns.
The man sitting next to her had some white hairs at his temples. The lighting was dim on his side, so she could not make out his face clearly.
The man smirked, "Why do you think we captured you to exchange for Seth?"
Nina remained silent, deep in thought. If they did not want to trade her for Seth, what was their goal?
Or maybe her reports had affected the interests of the allied forces? Were they planning to use her as a bargaining chip with the Yaren tribe?
Nina's breath quickened. She had not revealed her connection to Micah or Pharaoh. She had mentioned those names hoping it would make these people reconsider and release her.
Clearly, it had not worked. She could not afford to become a burden to them.
"If that's not it, then just kill me." Nina leaned back against the seat, resigned. With Nash's survival a secret, she could not leverage his name.
"Don't worry, that's just a matter of time." The man raised his hand and struck her with a swift chop, knocking her out.
Nina woke up to replace herself in a moving vehicle. After some time, the car stopped, and she was dragged out towards the sea. The men intended to chop her into pieces and feed her to the sharks. However, they did not succeed. "Bang! Bang!" One by one, the men fell.
Nina's captor turned to see Nash, gun in hand, approaching steadily.
The man's face turned pale, "Sir, I'm acting on the President's orders..."
Before he could finish, Nash shot him in the knee, making him collapse. Nash's men quickly dragged the captor away.
With the sea breeze howling, Nash held Nina tightly, whispering, "Nina, I'm sorry I'm late."
Nina awoke the next day in an unfamiliar room, unbound.
"You're awake?" A deep voice called from the doorway.
Nina looked up sharply to see Nash, dressed in black, carrying a bowl of oats porridge as he walked in confidently. She frowned, "Why is it you?"
She remembered being captured in the car, but now Nash was here. It was evident he had saved her.
But if he had been close enough to rescue her, why had he hung up on her during their previous phone call? And why had it taken him so long to come to her aid?
Nash's voice was hoarse, "Eat something first. I'll explain while you eat."
He offered the oats porridge, but Nina did not take it. "I want the truth, Nash. I don't want to be kept in the dark."
"I understand." He scooped a spoonful of oats porridge, blew on it to cool it, and brought it to her lips.
She did not open her mouth, her sharp eyes fixed on him.
Nash had promised her they would be together once everything was settled. But then he faked his death.
He had not sought her out in five years, and even now, he was keeping secrets.
And there was the matter of their child.
She felt a deep pain in her heart.
