The two of them leaned back against each other, their hearts still racing.

It took a while before they both exhaled a long breath of relief. Even the bravest would feel a shiver of fear recalling what could have happened if they had not spotted the snake in time.

Nash turned and hugged Nina tightly, kissing her on the forehead. "It's okay now. I'll thoroughly check the cave in a bit to make sure nothing like this happens again."

"It's not your fault. No one could have expected a snake to be in the cave," Nina reassured him.

In such a damp place, it was inevitable that there would be snakes. This might have even been the snake's den. They were the intruders, and now they had killed it. In a way, they were the ones being unreasonable.

Nash reignited the torch and carefully inspected the cave, then found some stones to block the entrance. Once everything was secured, he began roasting the snake meat. They did not know how much further they had to travel, so it was best to fill their stomachs while they could.

Meanwhile, things were not going well for the Yaren Tribe. The scout who had earlier reported the battle's progress crawled back into the camp with a broken leg.

"Hurry, get some people over here! Mr. Micah is injured!" His shrill cry caused several people to rush over.

Freya asked urgently, "Where is he? How badly is he hurt?"

Her voice trembled, and she looked as if she might collapse at any moment.

"On the ridge..." The scout fainted as soon as he finished speaking.

Freya immediately grabbed his weapon and commanded loudly, "Take him to Pharaoh for treatment. The rest of you, come with me to replace Mr. Micah."

The ridge was only about ten meters from the battlefield. If their forces could not hold off the enemy and they broke through, they would surely replace Micah. Freya could not bear to think about what would happen if Micah was captured. And what would become of the Yaren Tribe?

Fortunately, luck was on their side. When they arrived, the warriors had managed to drive the enemy back, if only temporarily.

Despite preparing herself mentally, Freya could not hold back her tears when she saw Micah.

He had fallen unconscious, his body covered in wounds from multiple cuts. His right hand clutched his broken bow tightly, and his right foot was still bleeding, the blood soaking into the muddy ground, leaving it stained red.

It was a scene of complete devastation.

"Those who aren't injured, go back and help Pharaoh prepare for emergency treatment. The rest, help me carry Mr. Micah back," Freya ordered, biting her lip until it bled to maintain her composure. Once everyone was ready, they began the journey back. As dawn broke, Micah was still not out of danger.

Freya sat by his side, carefully cleaning up the blood-soaked bandages on the ground. Her eyes kept darting to Micah lying on the bed. Each time she saw that he still had not woken up, her heart sank a little more. She bit her lip in worry, tears streaming down her face.

"Mr. Micah, you can't leave us. You can't... no, you won't. You're strong and lucky. You'll make it through this," she whispered, trying to convince herself as much as him.

She picked up the basin of blood-stained water, intending to take it outside, but the fear of leaving Micah alone made her hesitate. She quickly set the basin back down and returned to his side.

Gently, she tucked the blanket around him and carefully checked his forehead. Relieved to replace he did not have a fever, a small bit of her worry eased.

Meanwhile, thick morning fog covered the mountain, and the dew had soaked the grass along the path, drenching Nina and Nash's clothes.

The two of them were in a sorry state. Although they had spent a safe and uneventful night in the cave, they had not expected that leaving the cave would nearly result in them falling off a cliff.

The ground at the cave entrance was soft, and after a night with the stones pressing down, it was difficult to push them aside. When they finally managed to move the stones, they both nearly tumbled over the edge. They ended up face-first in the dirt, eating a mouthful of soil.
