Before the test results were in and before Pharaoh had finished the surgery, no one was allowed to approach Mr. Kerr.

Nash held Nina's hand tightly. "Don't be afraid, I'll be right here with you."

"Okay."

Even without his reassurance, Nina knew Nash would never leave her side.

Three long hours passed before the door to the lab finally opened. Pharaoh stepped out first, followed by Wilfred, who was pushing a bed with Orion lying on it. His pale face was framed by the stark contrast of the blue oxygen mask. "How is he?"

Nina rushed forward, her legs feeling weak beneath her.

"The surgery was successful," Pharaoh said. "Once the anesthesia wears off, he'll wake up. But we'll need to monitor him for a while. If there are no complications, he can go back to living like any other child."

Nina could not hold back her tears, crying out in relief, "That's wonderful!"

Her entire focus was on Orion at that moment.

But Micah had not forgotten about Mr. Kerr. Just then, Mr. Joker arrived to report, "Mr. Micah, the results from the powder in the charm are in. It's a life-saving medicine for critical moments. Even if it's not ingested, wearing it long-term helps to calm the mind and strengthen the spirit."

So, Mr. Kerr meant well after all.

Micah immediately instructed Mr. Joker, "Then what are you waiting for? Pull the guards back from Mr. Kerr's place!"

"Yes, sir," Mr. Joker responded, promptly carrying out the order.

Pharaoh, understanding the situation from their brief exchange, nodded approvingly. "It's good to be cautious. But I'm exhausted. From now on, the Yaren Tribe is in your hands."

Leaning against the wall, Pharaoh exhaled deeply. For so long, he had thrown himself into the task of saving Orion, working day and night, testing medicines on himself, and going without sleep. Now, at last, he could finally rest.

But seeing the fatigue in Pharaoh's eyes and the way his eyelids grew heavier, Micah could not help but call out urgently, "Father! Father! Don't scare us like this. Nina has just started to accept you. She's even agreed to the recognition ceremony. You can't leave us before that happens!"

Pharaoh smiled faintly, satisfied. The ceremony did not matter, nor did his own survival. All he wanted was for Nina to be happy and for Orion to be healthy.

He did not respond...

Wilfred had just gotten Orion settled back into his room when Mr. Joker came to fetch him. "Dr. Wilfred, Mr. Micah needs to see you."

By now, Wilfred was a well-respected figure in the Yaren Tribe. Micah even had plans to offer him a permanent position as the tribe's physician, sparing him the need to continue his work in Salterra and giving him a place of honor in the tribe. Sensing something was wrong, Nina immediately turned to Mr. Joker, "Is something wrong with my father?"

Although Nina had not yet called Pharaoh "Father" to his face, she had started referring to him that way in conversations with others.

Mr. Joker hesitated but was about to answer when Nina interrupted him, "If you don't tell me, I'll go see for myself."

"Yes, ma'am," Mr. Joker said, seeing no other choice but to tell her the truth.

Nash gently patted her shoulder. "Go check on your father. I'll stay here with Orion."

Nina did not reply, but the determination in her stride said it all.
