Tegan's

P.O.V

The story was heartbreaking. She lived for revenge on a man who broke her heart. Why didn't she just move on?

"Would you have moved on if you were her?" She asked questionably.

"I wouldn't have cursed them just to curse myself in order to kill them."

"She didn't plan on cursing herself. I doubt she would've used herself if she knew that it would leave her how it did."

"That was her punishment for disrupting the balance of nature."

"Maybe. Her idea was purely to have the love of her life live miserably. Instead, she set them sort of free while it was she who lived miserably." "Karma for trying to play the goddess," Ezra said with a shrug.

"And how do you think your goddess was made?"

"What?"

"Think about it. A witch cast a curse, creating the first werewolf, who was also the first of her kind to die."

"Are you saying that the moon goddess is the lover of Sybil's man?"

"I'm saying that there is a reason you exist. You exist solely based on a curse."

"Did they have children to somehow create more werewolves?"

"No, but in death it gave her the power to recreate her genes somehow. I don't have the answers, and what I am saying may not be real. But it's logical."

"I thought that Sybil was cursed to kill all supernatural beings?"

"She is. But the humanity in her seeks out your kind the most."

"How do you know so much?"

A smile formed across her face as she twirled her hair with her finger.

"I'm surprised you haven't asked me my name." She then said with her crooked smile.

"I'm sorry. We jumped right to the point and forgot formalities. I am Tegan Hendricks and this is Ezra Hendricks. What is your name?" "Novalee."

"Well, Novalee, we really appreciate your insight. It will help us track down any of her descendants."

"You didn't ask for my last name."

How was her last name relevant?

"Okay, what's your last name?"

"When you replace her descendants, what exactly are you expecting them to do?" She asked, avoiding the question she prompted me to ask.

"We have to somehow undo the curse. We know that the only one who can undo such a thing is the one who shares the same bloodline as Alex, I mean Sybil."

"She is misunderstood, angry, hurt, and just wants to be loved."

"She has killed many innocent people," Ezra responded angrily.

"Because she was cursed, had she been in her right mind she would never have done that."

"How would you know that?"

"Because she is a woman. As a woman myself, I can relate to her pain."

"Are you saying that you would curse someone and then kill them all because they didn't want you?"

"Maybe. I hadn't been torn apart, humiliated, and treated like she was by terrible people. Therefore, I couldn't tell you if I would do the same. But if I was hurt enough, then it's probable." "Novalee... Can I call you Novalee?"

"It is my name. What else would you call me?"

"Right, um anyway, exactly how are your feelings relevant to what we need to do to stop her?"

"Just figured we would get everything all out in the open, considering you are challenging a deep-rooted curse."

"You have to understand, with her being out in the world, it is dangerous for everyone."

"Not if she doesn't have her weapon."

"She has sight, she will replace her weapon. The urge, as you called it, would be all that she would think about."

"Keep the weapon unreachable. As long as she can't see it, she can't replace it. Unless she is near, then she will follow her urge."

"Which is exactly why we must destroy the weapon."

"Fine, say that I helped you figure it all out. What would be in it for me?"

"You get to keep your life," Ezra said flatly.

"Oh, it's not my life I am concerned about. I have a place where she can't replace me, not that she will search for me."

"Do you have no care for other people's lives then?" Ezra asked, his tone still coming out angrily.

"Not really. I'm not a queen. I have no reason to care."

"What about your family? Do you not care that their lives could be in danger?"

"They're smart."

"Do you have children then?" He asked, trying to replace any sense that she cared.

Sadness washed over her, but only for a moment before she pulled herself back together.

"No."

'She is lying. That was a trigger question. Play on that weakness.' I quickly mind-linked Ezra.

"Well, if you did, you'd understand the need to protect them. To want them to live long and happy lives." "Not everyone lives long and happy lives. Some live short miserable lives."

"You're right, not everyone is granted a long life. But what if altering this one curse allows them just that?"

"That curse is and will always be the worst one. She didn't just sacrifice those four humans to get what she wanted. She also sacrificed her own flesh and blood. It was the only way to seal the curse." "Her own family?"

"Her sister, who had children of her own that she didn't get to love and raise."

"Are you saying that her sister was the first soul sucked into that stone?"

"Yes. Then it was Celeste, but for whatever unknown reason she didn't go into the stone. But Josiah did."

"Is that the name of Sybil's lover and the name of his love?" I asked, jumping back into the conversation.

"I could never figure out why Celeste didn't get sucked into that stone of hell. What made her better than the others?"

"I don't know."

"Me either. But that isn't even the worst part of the curse."

What could possibly be worse than all of that?

"Every firstborn of Sybil's bloodline mysteriously gets sick. No magic, no medicine, nothing can help. Then they die. All before the age of one."

"How do you know all of this?" I asked her questionably.

"That information is in none of the scrolls or stories," Ezra then said.

"Why would it be?"

"You'd think that it was a major part of the curse. Maybe the firstborn of one of her descendants is the one who can break the curse." I suggested. "You think nobody thought of that?"

"I'm sure they had. But did they have someone helping them who had abilities given to them by the first werewolf to die by that sword?" I asked. "There is no such thing."

I then dove into her mind with my magic and showed her a memory of my son on Christmas, how his face lit up with happiness.

"You may not have a child yet, but I do."

"How'd you do that? You're only a wolf." She asked in a surprised tone.

"I'm a special wolf. One that was placed on this earth for a purpose. I think that purpose was to stop Sybil from destroying other lives. I thought I had a different purpose and maybe I have more than one. But I know in my heart that my purpose is to stop her from ruining more lives. Which now includes her family."

"You think that you can break the curse?"

"With the help of her descendant and a little blood of the next firstborn. I do, yes."

"Then I am in." She said as she looked down at her stomach, then back up at me.

"I thought that you didn't want to help? Hell, I thought you could understand why she did what she did." Ezra said.

"Doesn't mean I thought it was right."

"And how can you help us?"

"Because I am the one you had to convince to do it."

"Are you saying that you're the descendant we are searching for?"

"Let's start over. My name is Novalee Harkness. The descendant of Sybil Harkness. And I am pregnant with my firstborn child. So tell me what we need to do to stop this curse for good?"
