Chasing My Rejected Luna -
Chapter 173
TEGAN'S P.O.V
chaos.
I awoke to loud voices that didn't seem to shut up. What the hell was going on? I thought to myself as I pulled the blanket from covering my face. At the end of my bed was a fuming Lucy and next to her was none other than Novalee herself. She seemed to thrive in "What the hell is going on!?" I hollered while looking over at the alarm clock.
It was only six in the morning. What the hell was the meaning of this?
"This bitch dared to tell me I was pregnant," Lucy exclaimed in a not-so-thrilled tone.
"I'm not the bitch in this scenario. I mean come on, you're a wolf, can you not hear the extra heartbeat?" Novalee asked with a sarcastic tone.
"What are all of you doing standing in my bedroom? I haven't even gotten dressed." I said, choosing to ignore their immediate argument as I pulled the blanket up to cover my body.
"She followed me all the way here arguing that I am pregnant. I would know if that were true, Tegan."
I sat there staring at them dumbfounded. Were they serious right now? It was six in the f*****g morning. Could this not wait until later?
"You haven't even been here twenty-four hours, and you've managed to piss off not one, but two people," I stated while staring directly at Novalee.
"Three," Ezra whispered under his breath, making me let out a small giggle.
"I can't help it if the females in your pack are all sensitive sallies."
"I'll show you a sensitive sally!" Lucy hollered while charging at Novalee aggressively.
"JUST NOT THE FACE!"
"LUCY, STOP!" Ezra demanded in his alpha tone, making Lucy stop in her tracks, anger swirling in her eyes.
"Shouldn't you protect your stomach before protecting your face anyhow?" He then asked while looking at Novalee.
"I'm noticeably pregnant. Only an evil person would hit an obvious pregnant stomach."
"Can you both get out so that I can get dressed, then we can solve this little banter."
"Nothing I haven't seen before," Lucy muttered, while Novalee shook her head in agreement.
"Finally, something we agree on." She then said with a shrug.
"Out. Both of you. NOW," I demanded while pointing to the door. "And don't either of you even think about getting into a physical altercation,"
Ezra and I quickly got some clothes on, not wanting to leave them alone for too long.
"How the hell are we going to get anything done if we have to continuously put out fires she keeps starting?" He then asked as he turned to me.
"She just has a very out-there personality. One that our wolves aren't used to being around. It'll be an adjustment, but I think once they all get introduced to our guest they'll learn to deal with her and her blunt personality." "Emphasis on blunt."
I opened the door and each was leaning against opposite walls still arguing.
"Okay, let's get this squared away," I said as I entered the hallway.
Ezra exited the room behind me, kissed my forehead, then walked down the hall, not wanting any part of a girl fight.
"Finally. Now tell her that she is quite literally a bitch."
"I swear if my Alpha didn't demand me to stop, I'd fuck you up."
"Both of you, knock this childish shit off. Seriously, you are both grown-ass adults."
"I'm not pregnant, and she is calling me not only fat but also a bitch!"
"You called me a bitch first. Plus, the term fits you better."
"Cut it out, both of you!" I yelled while looking between them. When they didn't say anything, I started talking again. "Lucy, I truly am sorry to have to tell you like this, but I do believe that you are pregnant. At least, that's what was said at the scene of the battle. We won't know for sure until you go to see Sarah at the infirmary."
"Told you so."
"What are you even saying right now, how can you agree with her?"
I took a deep breath as I thought back on what was said at the battle. I wanted to have the right words so that she understood what was said.
"When Iblis had control over your mind, he was manipulating you, trying to make you kill your mate. He wanted you to become your alias, literally."
"I don't understand what you're saying."
"The name you chose to go by while working at the underground, Black Widow. Well, in real life, the black widow kills their mates after they are impregnated by them." I started explaining.
"So he wanted me to become my alias?"
"That was what was said, yes."
"But how would he know, but I didn't?"
"Damn, I didn't see that one coming. That's just vile." Novalee said under her breath, but neither of us replied to her.
"I can't answer that, Luc. But what I can do is hold your hand while they examine you."
I always tried to be a good friend to her, but Lucy was so independent. I wasn't sure she would allow me to hold her hand while she was in a vulnerable state. If she had never gotten her memories back, I'm sure her former self would have held my hand for dear life. But Lucy was nothing like Imogen. Sometimes I missed Imogen. She was caring, brave, and even selfless. She was everything Lucy wasn't. “I mean, you can come. But I'd prefer to..."
"To go alone, I understand. Well, I'm here if you need me." I said, interrupting her.
"No, I'd prefer it if we waited until Fredrick came too. If what you say is true, he deserves to be there just as much as I do. I just hope he doesn't hate me for trying to kill him."
That was not what I was expecting to hear in the least. Maybe her hormones were bringing up parts of Imogen I desperately missed.
"Why are you looking at me like that?" She then asked.
"I just missed this side of you."
"What side?"
"The side that needs me like I need her," I admitted without any shame.
"I'll always need you, T."
"You hadn't in a very long time."
"Ew, sappiness. That's my cue to go." Novalee said as she pushed off the wall to leave.
I had almost forgotten that she was even here. I was so caught up in the moment with Lucy that her presence slipped my mind.
"Actually, we need to introduce you to the pack. That way, shit like this doesn't keep happening," I said as I turned to her. "Center of attention. My fav."
"Of course it is. You're so full of yourself." Lucy spat out hatefully.
"You don't even know me."
"I know enough to know that you're full of yourself."
"I think the word you're looking for is confident," Novalee replied as she flipped her hair from her shoulder to behind her back in a sassy way.
"My point exactly. Anyway, T, I am going to go call Fred. I'll mind-link you when he gets here so that you can come too. Okay?"
I nodded my head before she retreated, leaving just Novalee and myself alone in the hallway. I took a deep breath before turning to face her again.
"Oh, come on, don't look at me like that. I did nothing wrong."
"You called her a bitch, Novalee. Those are fighting words in any species."
"She is a female dog, she is the literal definition of a bitch."
"She is a wolf, not a dog." I hissed out as Gemma surfaced.
"Okay, a pregnant wolf. A descendant of a dog. Same shit."
"Maybe just don't talk to people. You clearly don't know what words are offensive and what aren't."
"Fine, don't be me while I am here. Got it."
She keeps saying that she's got it, but clearly she doesn't. This makes the second altercation in twenty-four hours. I will have to talk to my pack because if I don't, we could have a dead pregnant witch on our hands before we ever figure out how to break the curse. I took another deep breath before addressing her once more.
"Follow me. The pack is gathering for breakfast. It'll be the best time to address them all at once." I then said as I walked past her.
I wasn't sure what was worse, her smart mouth or her bluntness of honesty. Either way, I knew this was going to be a long journey. I just hoped she didn't cross the wrong person and get knocked down a couple of pegs. Or maybe that was exactly what she needed. Either way, I had a feeling that I would be defusing a bunch of fires while she was staying in our territory. But I also knew that without her, we were all toast. So, what else can we do?
