TEGAN'S P.O.V

I stormed out of the palace thinking about all my new possibilities. While walking away, I could hear Ezra coming up behind me quickly. He was screaming my name, but he didn't know I had a newfound gift, blessed by the goddess herself to be able to hear. I kept walking in the direction the burly man had led me while taking me to the room. The room where my new fate was sealed without my consent once again. Next time any decisions are made regarding my life, I will be the one making them. Nobody else will be making them for me. I could now see the front doors to the palace as Ezra finally caught up. I could hear his footsteps right behind me before he grabbed my shoulder, spinning me around. Pissing me off even more.

"Take your hand off of me!" I screamed as I felt a new presence push forward.

"Tegan, your eyes, I thought I saw it back there too. You have a wolf. I thought you said you didn't -"

"I didn't, then I did. It is none of your concern now!" I screamed.

"It does concern me when it comes to my mate!"

"You rejected me back there, remember? That is no longer the case and me now having a wolf makes no difference about what just happened!"

"It makes all the difference! We can reverse the voided contract and continue as if it never happened."

"As if it never happened? Are you fucking serious right now?" I asked in disbelief.

"The Elders made me reject you because you were wolf less, but clearly you weren't wolf less. She must have just been dormant and needed coaxing out or something."

"They made you?" I laughed out. "You're the king, and you're saying these Elders made you, the fucking KING, reject YOUR mate, but not just any mate -"

"Contracted. I know." He said, interrupting me.

"No, not just contracted, your fated mate." I bluntly stated, not caring now as I was no longer an issue for them.

"Fated..." He repeated, confused.

"That's what I said. You may not feel it due to the curse, but I do. I am, or sorry correction, I was your fated mate, believe it or not. But none of that matters anymore." "All of that matters." He said as he tried grabbing my hand, only for me to back away.

"I hope you replace what you are looking for, your highness. I will take the car, the hotel and the card as promised and take my departure. You won't have to worry about me anymore." "No, wait Tegan, you are what I am looking for."

"Clearly not." I laughed out. "Oh also, fuck my dad, don't give him a penny. I didn't fulfill his contract, he deserves nothing." I said before slamming the front door and walking outside.

I walked straight to the car where the burly man from before stood with the door open for me. I got in as he shut the door behind me. He got into the driver's side, starting the engine and pulling the car from the circular driveway. Ezra now stood on the steps; his face completely broken. For a moment my heart ached seeing the pain it was also causing him. But I couldn't think about that now, I had more important things to worry about, like what I was going to do next.

Once we arrived at the hotel, I got out as the man began to grab my packed bags. They weren't playing. While I was either in the hospital or in the meeting, they managed to pack all the belongings they had purchased for me, along with all the products and accessories. Which were already in the car ready for me to leave. I didn't even get to say goodbye to Imagen.

Once we arrived, I walked indoors, going straight to the front desk.

"Hello Ma'am, welcome to the Grand-Lodge hotel, where all species are welcome. How may I help you?"

"Checking in. I am not sure what my reservation is under. My name is Tegan Hendricks." Technically, I was still a Hendricks until we were legally divorced by the law of humans.

"I see a Hendricks but under another first name."

"Ezra?"

"That is, it. There is no end date for check out, is that correct?"

"That is correct."

"Okay, here is your room card, you're in room 204. Do you need help with your bags?"

"I just need a cart please."

Once she retrieved the cart, I rolled it outside where the man stood waiting.

"I got it from here, thank you..." I said, giving him a look, waiting for his name. "Tanner Brooks."

"Thank you, Tanner." I said as I started trying to load my bags on to the cart.

"I

got that, madam."

"It is fine, I got it. You should go back home."

"This is my home for as long as it is yours. I am in room 205, shall you ever need me."

"Aren't you a driver?" I asked as he laughed out.

"No madam, I am the top warrior for Alpha King Ezra. He has assigned me to look after you."

"Like a bodyguard?" I asked with a chuckle.

"Whatever you need. Bodyguard, chauffeur, late night food run. Anything."

"Won't you miss your family?"

"I am assigned a duty. No matter how long, that is what I am obligated to do."

"Okay. So, where are your bags?"

"I have a small bag upfront."

"Just a small bag?"

"That is right, I travel lightly." He said as he began to load my bags onto the rolling cart.

As we started walking back indoors, I decided to spark another conversation.

"You're not only a wolf, are you?"

"No madam. I am a hybrid of wolf and bear."

His burliness now makes sense.

"Are there many hybrids in the kingdom?"

"All sorts. All are half wolf, of course."

"What other species? Where I came from there were only wolves."

"There are all sorts that reside within the kingdom. Part bear, part vampire, part witch/wizard, part fae. Many species."

"I wish I could've met them all." I stated sadly.

"We are not all worth meeting." He bluntly replied as the elevator doors opened to the second floor.

"Everyone is worth meeting; you never know who would make a difference." I stated.

Once we were at my door, I used the keycard to enter. He helped unload my bags from the cart before handing me a piece of paper with his number written on it. He then headed to his own room with his bag. When he got to his door he spoke once again. "If you need anything, just holler." I nodded as I closed my door.

I turned around looking around the room when a sigh left my mouth. Why did this have to be my life?

She said I had to endure what I did to become who I am. But who exactly was I and what was it that I would have to face and overcome to save the realm?
