EZRA'S P.O.V

I awoke to the sun rays of Christmas morning beaming down on my face. As soon as I opened my eyes Tegan was already sitting up in the bed, her face deep in thought. "Morning." I said, startling her momentarily.

"Sorry, I'm still a little jumpy from last night." She said as her eyes connected with mine.

"I know what you mean. I didn't get much real sleep after witnessing what that man did. I'm all for a little t*****e for information but he went beyond anything I would have dared to do." I admitted, thinking back on what we saw together. "So that was your dream that night?" She asked in a serious tone.

"Not exactly. My dream stopped right before this one began. I didn't see any of those horrific actions. I only saw him beginning before I woke up."

"You should've told me." She said almost pleadingly.

"I tried. Multiple times."

"I'm sorry. I should have listened. I shouldn't have acted like such an entitled child. Why would you ever forgive me for being so damn rude all this time?"

"Because you're my mate, my wife, and my queen all wrapped in one. Plus, everyone deserves a second chance." I said with a small smile.

"I wished I was as forgiving as you." She said with a sigh.

"Hey, you are in your own way." I said as I brought her face to look at me. "Plus, my strongest qualities are your weakest, whereas my weakest are your strongest. Combined we balance each other. That allows us to be level headed and make the best decisions as a team."

A smile spread across her face at my words.

"So, Lydia for sure is dead." She then said.

"Well as far as that Dream went, it appeared so. But truth be told, anything is possible."

"He skinned her flesh right off her face." She said in a distraught tone.

"Doesn't necessarily mean she is dead. I've heard of more gruesome acts and the victim survived." I admitted, thinking back on another case not long ago.

"Okay, if that didn't kill her then surely him cutting into her skull and messing with her brain did?"

"My money is on that she is dead. But neurologists do brain surgeries all the time with surviving patients. We can't be certain he was cutting her to kill her. Not that her being alive is a threat to us, but her knowledge for whatever he was seeking could be." I replied, trying to keep the benefit of the doubt open.

"I hate that these stupid dreams don't give us more information. Why make us watch something so horrendous just to cut it off. We need the entire story, not just bits of it." She said plopping back onto the bed with a sigh.

"Let's just focus on what we do know. I am sure we will have plenty more dreams to come in the future, but as of now we know when he plans on coming and what he wants."

"We just don't know why he wants him or if he is lying." She retorted back.

"Which means we must be prepared for an attack at any given moment, but hope we have the 9 to 10 months." I replied while getting out of bed.

"Where are you going? It's 6:30 am."

"To get our son. It's his first Christmas." I said enthusiastically.

"Oh, right. Sorry, Christmas just doesn't get me going like it does you." She said as she got up too.

"I know, but I want to change that. I want our son to be joyful every Christmas morning with happiness. I never want him to feel like you did growing up." Hoping my honest words don't upset her or trigger bad memories. "You're right. You're absolutely right. Let's go get our son."

"I have a big Christmas tree set up in the foyer with gifts for everyone under it."

"Everyone?" She asked, confused.

"Of course. I mean the workers get a Christmas bonus, which I give on Christmas day. But our family and closest friends get one gift each, besides Elias, he'll obviously get a lot." I said with a chuckle.

"I didn't get not one person a gift." She said in a sorrowful tone.

"I know, which is why they are addressed from Elias, you and I."

"I can't take any credit for your kind heart." She said sternly.

"You didn't have to." I replied as I pulled some clothes on.

"I need to go get dressed. I didn't exactly bring clothing articles with me when I came over last night."

"Go on, go get dressed. It's time to celebrate with our loved ones."

Once Tegan was dressed, we headed straight downstairs. I had already mind-linked everyone to meet us in the foyer.

Upon entering, many had already gathered. I pulled out my folder containing all the employees bonuses. I could see the twinkle of excitement lingering in some of their eyes. After I handed them their checks they thanked us before leaving. Once the employees were all gone, it left just Tegan, me and our closest friends and family.

"Merry Christmas everyone!" I screamed out. "I got everyone one gift each, so please feel free to replace it under the tree." I said in a joyful tone.

Like children let loose in a candy store, bodies were running around trying to replace their gift.

I looked over to see Tegan smiling from ear to ear holding Elias.

"Don't worry buddy, when they've all found their gifts we will get to you." I said as Tegan handed a smiling infant over.

"Hey, I have to go replace Imagen, she isn't here." She said looking amongst the crowd.

"Shit, we forgot to check on her last night." I said making Tegans smile disappear.

"Yeah, I'll be back. Okay?"

"Elias won't start without you. Don't worry." I replied as she smiled then quietly left the chaos.

"So... She forgave you?" I heard my mothers melodic voice ask beside me.

"What makes you think that?"

"Well for starters, that bright red new mark on your neck." She said, making me smile.

I touched my neck which also made her smile.

"So, all you needed was a big project to pull you together and have a kid free night." She then said cheerfully.

"Go replace your gift mother." I replied ignoring the conversation.

"And get pulled into that vulture mess? No thanks. I will wait until the crazies have found theirs first." She said walking away to sit on a nearby sofa.

My favorite part about Christmas was never the receiving of gifts. It was always watching the faces of those around me light up when they get one themselves.

I was lost in the moment when a soft cough sounded out next to me. I looked over to see Helena standing there.

"Will Tegan be coming?" She asked, concerned.

"She ran upstairs to get Imagen, she'll be back soon." I replied just as Tegan entered, dragging a not so willing Imagen behind.

"If I have to, so do you!" She hollered out, tugging Imagen's arm.
