Chapter 5
Third Person’s POV
“My pleasure, Miss. By the way, we are new in this town and came here to surprise one of our old friends, John Watson, but unfortunately, we are kind of lost. Do you know the exact location?”, Eric asked the first thing which came to mind. It was obvious that they knew the exact location. It was just Zayden had asked to keep chatting with her so that he could listen to her melodious voice.
“John Watson, who is a father of two cute angels?”, Grace asked to confirm to which Eric nodded. While Zayden was just listening to her voice. He stopped himself from chucking after observing the words she just used ‘two cute angels’.
‘Lolz, who talks like this? What’s her age? 5’, He thought. Along with that, he started wondering whether they both share some kind of relationship. That mere thought scared him. ‘I hope not. I can’t hurt anyone in her family.’
“If you can wait for a while then I can take both of you to his house. Because his house is near my house.”, Grace offered her help.
“Thank you so much.”, Eric replied but the same thought came into his mind which was going on in Zayden’s mind.
‘Ask her whether she always walks home late, that too alone?’, Zayden mind linked Eric. This thought was continuously poking in his mind because it was not safe for her. Also, he promised himself that from now onwards he wouldn’t let her walk back to her home alone.
“Do you always return home this late, Miss?”, Eric asked. “I mean it is not safe for a beautiful woman to stay out of the home this late, you know.”, He added in a concerned tone.
“Beautiful woman?”, Grace laughed lightly. “I am not beautiful, Sir. And answering your questions, no, I don’t return home this late. Moreover, no one in this town will try to mess with him after all I am a state level Martial Art Champion.”, She answered and giggled, thinking how anyone could say that she was beautiful. In her eyes, she was nothing but just a plain and simple girl.
“Your smile is pretty!”, Zayden spoke for the first time before he could control his tongue. Grace’s eyes almost popped out at his blunt comment.
“Umm…Thank you, sir”, She replied, hiding her little blush. ‘Wow! So this man speaks! Because I had started thinking that he was mute.’, She thought. “So, what’s the reason for the surprise visit to your friend’s house?”, Grace asked, changing the topic.
It was obvious that they couldn’t tell her the truth otherwise she would run away from there with the speed of flash. And Zayden didn’t want that. He knew that Eric would come up with the best answer to her question.
“Well, we never got a chance to meet him after his marriage. That’s why we came here to surprise him. Also, we want to play with his two cute angels.”, Eric answered in her old tone on which Grace started laughing. All the time, Zayden’s eyes were on her and he was looking at her intently as he was doing from the moment his eyes landed on him. Grace noticed this and quickly stopped laughing. His gaze on her was making her uncomfortable and she started getting scared now.
‘Men. They all are just the same. Here I am helping them and he is thinking of it as his chance.’. She thought and promised not to look toward him. They reached near John’s house. “Your friends here.”, She said pointing toward his house.
“Thank you, Miss.”, Eric replied with a warm smile.
“I am glad to help you. By the way, if you get lost again then NEVER…I repeat NEVER trust any stranger because people say that at night vampires roam in the town.”, Grace gave them the advice with a serious expression. She had never met any of them until now but many people in the town had seen them.
Zayden chuckled at Grace’s words. ‘She is so innocent. Only if she knows with whom she was talking to!’
Grace narrowed her eyes and glared at Zayden. “You don’t believe me? Okay, fine! You will remember my words when you see any vampire in front of you. And in case you still come up alive, inform me. Because guess what? Unlike in the movie, the Vampire will end up killing you instead of falling in love with you.”, She joked.
This time Zayden literally laughed at her words. “Sure, I will see you have the power to kill me.”, He replied. His deep voice sent chills down her spine because of which she wanted to run away from there as soon as possible.
“Okay! I will go now. Good night!”, Grace said.
“Do you live here?”, Zayden asked, hoping that she would be staying near this house because what he was going to do next would surely scare her. And he didn’t want to scare her. Also, he didn’t want to disclose his identity to her, at least not now.
Grace thought for the consequences of her reply if she replied to his answer truthfully. ‘No, I shouldn’t share my address with him, who knew he would start harassing me or my family? And what if he turned out to be a bad guy?’
“No! I don’t live here but four blocks away from here.”, She lied. In actuality, her house was just opposite John’s house. For today, she thought about entering the house from the back gate. Zayden sighed feeling relieved. Now, he didn’t have to think much as there was no way she could see or hear the things which he had planned to do next.
As Grace had planned, she entered her house from the back gate. She walked toward the room to change her clothes and get some sleep because she was feeling tired. That’s when she heard the loud cries coming from the street. Everyone started looking outside from their house to see what was happening. Even her brother and father joined her when she was looking outside from the window.
Out there, she saw John’s family wrenched. The whole family was outside looking flushed. The man in the hat was holding the twins in his hand as if they were some non-living things, while the babies were crying loudly.
“Oh my god! That’s Zayden Staunton”, Her father whispered in fear and her eyes popped out when she recognized that name. Zayden Staunton was a mafia leader who was a bloody cold, arrogant and selfish bastard.
