Claimed By My Three Alphas -
Bonus Chapter 1
Quincy
"It's too heavy!"
"You're not even trying hard enough,"
"It's not budging. Ugh, 1 give up."
"Move aside," I say, pushing past Amery's crouched frame.
She's struggling to lift a goddamn five kilogram weight. The science of it is beyond me. With one hand, I pick up the heavy circular disk, holding it up in my palm as I turn to face her, my eyebrows raised.
"What?" She says, throwing her hands up in mock defence,
"You're like an Alpha wolf with all your super strength things, you can't possibly expect things to be as easy for me as they are for you."
I'm unamused. "It's a five-kilogram weight."
"I don't have any arm strength!"
She's still trying to defend herself like she doesn't have the kind of powers that could crumble a whole mountain.
Sighing, I let go of the weight, letting it clang to the concrete floor. Amery jumps back, startled, and I grimace, feeling remorseful.
"Class is over," I say, moving to walk out of the gymnasium.
"No, no!"
She cries, "Come on! I have to learn this stuff."
"You don't learn how to lift weights, Amery."
"Fine, I have to know how to do this."
I let out a chuckle, digging my fingers into the back of my neck. "You know you don't need to do all this. It's pretty irrelevant for someone like you."
She shoots me a glare. "I do need to do all this. I have to be able to defend myself."
"Really, this is coming from someone who can tear a person to literal shreds with a flick of her wrist?"
She sighs, rolling her eyes exaggeratedly, "That's different. I can't always rely on my powers. What happens if they're inactive, like that time with Casper? Or what if I run out of energy storage and if I use them I might die due to my body overheating which might then lead to me detonating like a bomb?"
I stare at her, my expression blank
Is she serious?
It's difficult to take her at her word, but she said all that bullshit with a straight face.
"Quincy!" She drags out my name like she's frustrated. Well, that makes two of us.
"I need to get this, okay," She continues, "I need to build up my physical strength so I don't always rely on my gifts.
I promise I'll try harder."
Folding my arms across my chest, I give her some space, nodding down at the discarded weight, "Go on."
Her eyes narrow, "You know, Asher is a lot nicer to me during our training sessions."
"Yeah," I agree, "Which is why you can't pick up a freaking five kg weight."
She scowls, dropping to her knees and slowly prying the piece of metal from the ground
"Be careful," I tease, "Wouldn't want you to blow out your back."
"Ha-ha," She wheezes, lifting the weight and settling it on her shoulder. All of a sudden, the girl looks like shes out of breath.
You gotta be kidding me.
"It's not funny!"
I wipe a hand over my mouth, brushing away the lingering smile. "How do you feel?" I ask.
She shoots daggers at me, before she can respond, the door to the large room opens, and Asher walks in sporting simple gym attire, a black compress shirt and matching sweatpants.
"Asher!" She cries, abandoning the weight and letting it drop to the floor the same way I did, "Save me! Your brother's a monster!"
I'm perplexed, shaking my head as my eyes widen, "I said the class was over! You're the one who insisted on it going on."
She's already rushed to him, cowering behind his body as they approach me like she's wary of my incoming attack.
I can't with this girl. The laughter pours out of me, unrestrained.
"Amery," I remark, holding onto the towel wrapped around my neck as I tap a finger to the side of my temple, "Get checked."
"Dude!" Asher frowns, pulling Amery from behind him and into an embrace, his arms wrapping around her, "That's no way to talk to a Queen."
I roll my eyes, watching as she snuggles into his chest like a little kid. I'll admit though, it's f*****g adorable.
I turn away from them, picking up the discarded weight and placing it back on the rack with the others. When I'm done, I head to the door.
"Wait," Amery calls after my retreating form, "Where are you going?"
I don't look back, "To replace something to eat."
"But we're not done training!"
"I'm sure you'll be fine. Besides, you've found someone a lot nicer to handle your shit." I snap my fingers, "Ash."
"No, I'm not here to help with that, I've got to get my work out in."
I look over my shoulder just in time to see Amery's mouth fall wide open, a look of betrayal flashing through her eyes as they move back and forth between the two of us. She's so comical, she could be a cartoon character. "That is so unfair!" She folds her arms over her chest, dramatically pouting her lips.
Asher shoves her playfully, before moving to get in a bench, press rep, "Besides," he says, "Don't you have something you're meant to be doing right now?"
Her brows furrow for a second, and then her eyes widen, " Oh my gosh, I totally forgot!"
"No s**t," Asher says.
"I'm lost," I say.
"The seminar!" She says, "The one for the orphaned pups.
Its today and I completely forgot." Her hands move to cradle her head, "I don't even know what I'm going to wear."
"Oh," Is all I say, I have no idea what she's talking about.
Me, and this King thing? Yeah right.
I'm not negligent, that's not it, no. But, it's been pointed out more than once how I tend to not involve myself in the technicality of it all. Hell, Asher of all people calls me boneheaded when it comes to these things. I do what I have to, I provide for my people and show up as best as I can. But remembering dates? Events? Schedules?
Not so much.
"I have to go get ready," Amery says, moving towards me, towards the door. I expect her to pass by me, but she grabs my shirt, a fistful of it, yanking my body forward. I'm caught off guard, so my body sways forward before she halts. I meet Asher's gaze across the room, noticing how he's holding back a laugh.
"You!" She turns to him, pointing a finger in his general direction, "No training for me, then no training for you either. Both of you are gonna help me figure out what to wear."
"Uh, Amery," I say, slowly prying her closed grip off my shirt,
"We're not experts on feminine fashion."
"Doesn't matter. Asher."
He shrugs, getting to his feet and following her out the door as she tugs me along with her.
I don't want to ask and don't want to bring the spotlight to myself, but I'm completely clueless.
"So," I clear my throat, trying to make my voice as casual as possible, "What's this seminar for, anyway?"
Amery blanches, as she turns to pin me with a look of horror, "You can't possibly be serious!"
My mouth opens and closes, fapping like a goddamn fish.
Asher places a hand on my shoulder, pressing a hand over his stomach as his body bows with laughter.
"You literally rule all these people and have no idea what's going on ninety per cent of the time. How do you do that?"
"I get lost in the formality of the whole thing." I say, "But I'm well aware of my responsibilities."
Amery narrows her eyes at me, studying my face like she's preparing for a test. She'll ace it, with how hard she's looking.
"What?"
She's quiet, still contemplating
"What?" I repeat.
"You should come with me today."
I lift my brows, "Come with you where?"
"Seriously, man?" Asher cackles, "Are you ever actually present? She's talking about the goddamn seminar!"
"Oh," I grimace, hell no, "I'll pass."
She arches a delicate brow, and It's hard to concentrate now, with how sexy I replace it, "You'll pass?" I lift my hands defensively, "I don't like kids." "They're orphans!"
"They're children." I point out, "I can't stand children."
Her expression turns blank, "They don't have parents, Quincy. How can you be so crass?"
I'll dig myself up a deeper grave if I keep on talking, so I press my lips shut.
"You're coming and that's final." She doesn't leave any room for argument, turning on her heel and walking away from us.
She stops, tossing a glance over her shoulder, "I still need help picking out my dress!"
"Yes ma'am," Asher pushes past me, slapping me on the back as he trails after Amery.
