Andrew and Madisyn strolled back to her villa. At the entrance, Andrew gently placed his slender, refined hand on Madisyn’s waist. His warm breath brushed against her face, creating an intimate atmosphere.

Madisyn knew what was coming. Even though they had shared this moment many times, she still felt a bit nervous and closed her eyes.

Andrew’s lips moved closer, slowly and deliberately, until they softly met hers. He began kissing her tenderly, savoring the moment with gentle nibbles.

Just then, not too far from where they stood, two figures arrived and caught sight of the intimate scene.

Howard’s ears instantly turned a bit red as he glanced down at Milly. Milly stood there quietly, her face a calm mask, giving nothing away. But after spending so much time with her, Howard had learned to pick up on the little things—like how her blinking sped up when she felt shy.

Howard sometimes felt like he had become a detective, understanding Milly’s subtle cues better than he understood his own feelings. Though they hadn’t known each other for long, he felt as if they had been close for years.

He took Milly’s hand, quickly guiding her past Andrew and Madisyn and into his parents’ villa. It was only then that Madisyn heard footsteps and opened her eyes, catching sight of Howard and Milly entering the villa. Embarrassed, she quickly pushed Andrew away, her cheeks flushing pink.

Andrew, clearly still wanting her, gazed at Madisyn with lingering desire.

“Howard is here,” she whispered.

Andrew glanced around, but by then, Howard was already out of sight. “He just went inside with Milly,” Madisyn said, taking a deep breath to steady herself. “We should head inside.”

“Alright,” Andrew reluctantly agreed, giving her lips one last gentle peck. His eyes were still burning with passion, but Madisyn, unable to meet his gaze, quickly turned away and headed inside her villa.

By the time Howard and Milly walked into the living room, Elaine and Glenn were already asleep. With plenty of rooms to choose from, Howard selected one close to his own bedroom for Milly.

“Get some good rest here for the next few days,” he said, gently patting Milly’s head. He found her dazed look incredibly endearing.

As for the surprising kiss from before, Howard decided to let it go, chalking it up to Milly not being herself.

“Alright,” Milly agreed, looking up at him with those big, trusting eyes. “What about you?”

“I’m heading to bed too,” he replied with a reassuring smile.

Milly nodded and was about to step into her room when Howard’s phone buzzed. “Mr. Johns, I’m having trouble with an experiment. Could you help me?”

“Of course,” Howard responded, always dedicated to his work. He glanced over at Milly and silently mouthed, “Goodnight.”

Milly pursed her lips, watching as Howard headed back to his room.

Once he was back in his room, his phone rang with a video call. He answered and quickly got involved in working on the experiment with the person on the other end.

About thirty minutes later, a gentle knock echoed from Howard’s door. He opened it, surprised to see Milly standing there, holding a glass of milk.

He blinked in surprise. “Is that for me?”

“Yes,” she replied.

“Thanks, but you should get some rest now.” Howard took the glass from Milly but noticed she wasn’t leaving. Instead, her eyes were fixed on his computer screen.

The screen showed a video call with a woman. The woman on the screen appeared to be in a lab, though her loose lab coat couldn’t hide the tight, low-cut black top underneath. Her long, bare legs were visible, easily catching any man’s attention.

“What’s up?” Howard asked.

Milly hesitated before saying, “Could you watch a movie with me? I’m feeling a bit scared.”

Howard knew Milly had a thing for horror movies, even though they scared her. He quickly nodded but added, “I’m kind of busy at the moment.”

“That’s okay—I’ll wait,” Milly responded without hesitation. She settled into a chair beside him, quietly watching as he continued his conversation with the woman on the call.

When the woman noticed the stunning girl in Howard’s room, she felt her heart nearly shatter. Despite her experience, she managed to ask, “Mr. Johns, is she your girlfriend?”

Howard took a quick look at Milly before answering. The woman felt her broken heart mend itself after hearing his response, exhaling in relief. From the moment Howard had joined the company, she had been attracted to him. With his good looks, gentle demeanor, and family background, he was a replace in the tech world.

Thankfully, she thought, Howard wasn’t dating anyone.

“Howard,” Milly suddenly piped up, reaching for his hand. “Can we go on a date when you’re free?”

Howard turned to her, clearly surprised. He often took her out, but hearing the word “date” made his heart race.

When he didn’t respond right away, Milly felt a bit rejected. Her long lashes lowered as if to hide the discomfort in her eyes.

Those beautiful eyes now held a hint of sadness. Howard felt a pang in his chest and quickly reassured her, “Of course we can.”

The woman on the video call, unable to contain her curiosity, asked again, “Mr. Johns, are you sure she’s not your girlfriend?”

Howard’s voice turned calm and firm as he replied, “My personal matters are not up for discussion.”

The woman instantly fell quiet. Howard might seem gentle, but he could be rather intimidating when he wasn’t smiling.

The experiment wrapped up shortly after.

Howard noticed Milly staring at him, her emotions clearly written on her face—she genuinely seemed happy. Howard found himself wondering what had brought on her happiness.

When an idea crossed his mind, he pressed his lips together slightly, feeling a bit incredulous. He had always seen her as a sister, caring for her out of pity—nothing more.

But… if Milly had developed feelings for him… that wouldn’t be a good thing, would it? He felt a wave of hesitation.

“What’s wrong?” Milly asked, her big eyes searching his face.

Howard shook himself out of his thoughts and realized he couldn’t bring himself to say anything harsh. With a sigh, he decided he would talk to Madisyn about it later. “Nothing, let’s just go watch that movie,” he said.

“Okay,” Milly said with a smile. Howard’s gaze softened, and he gently patted her on the head.
