Chapter 463:

Nearly everyone online was tearing into Madisyn, insisting that Jada was more suitable for Andrew. Damari lay in bed, stormy and clearly showing signs of his rising frustration. Sensing his anger, Jada hurried to reassure him, “Damari, I don’t follow these things. I’ve been focused on taking care of you and haven’t had a chance to look at my phone.”

“Really? Wasn’t it you? Who else would have a motive to defame Madisyn?” Susan’s tone dripped with mockery. Jada’s face flushed with indignation. “Susan, you’ve crossed a line. You’re my sister, and I’ve always held you in high regard. But with Damari’s health in such a delicate state, do you really have to add to his stress?”

Susan fell silent, her expression thoughtful. She didn’t want to add to Damari’s burdens, so she said carefully, “Damari, Madisyn is tied up with something important right now. Not that she doesn’t want to see you.”

“I understand. You’re both so kind.” Damari’s expression softened at the mention of Madisyn. “You don’t need to come by so often. I can manage.”

Though he was struggling, Damari was resolved to hold on until Madisyn could visit. Sensing the gentle resolve in his eyes, Susan felt a wave of admiration. He was truly a good man, and she quietly wished for his continued strength and well-being. Damari, clearly drained, gestured for them to leave.

As Jada and Susan stepped out of the ward, Jada’s hand shot out, landing a sharp slap across Susan’s face. The sound was sudden and jarring.

Susan, completely unprepared, gasped as a stinging pain spread across her cheek. She instinctively raised her own hand in response. Two quick, stinging slaps hit Jada’s face in rapid succession.

The corridor fell into stunned silence. The Klein family’s relatives were bewildered. What had prompted this sudden clash?

Jada, taken aback and fuming, stared at Susan with a mix of shock and fury. Her voice trembled with anger. “Susan, I slapped you because you’ve gone too far. How dare you upset Damari right now? Do you want him to suffer more?”

“What about you, Jada? Is this really the time to be posting those articles online? How shameless!” Susan’s voice was sharp, dripping with contempt.

“I’ve told you, I didn’t do it.”

“You know full well whether you’re guilty or not!” Susan shot back, her tone dripping with derision.

The relatives quickly rallied to Jada’s defense. “Jada isn’t someone who would do something like that. And who are you to speak to her this way? She’s set to marry Andrew soon.”

“Really? Madisyn is the one who will marry Andrew!” Susan snapped, her voice rising.

“Madisyn hasn’t even come to visit Damari for ages. Does she really deserve to marry Andrew? We don’t think so!”

The relatives chimed in, their voices growing more intense.

“Who do you even think you are?” Susan sneered, replaceing their support ridiculous. “Why should anyone care about your opinions on who will marry Andrew?” Her words were so cutting that everyone’s faces turned pale with discomfort.

“We’re all part of the Klein family, and we need to stick together. If Madisyn can’t even show up when it matters, she doesn’t deserve to be the hostess of the family!” Damari’s distant nephew, Soren Klein, added coldly, his voice echoing with disdain.

“So what? You’re just Damari and Andrew’s relatives. Stay out of their matters,” Susan said, her voice as cold as winter’s chill. What a disgrace! A group of distant relatives actually trying to meddle in Damari and Andrew’s affairs.

The relatives’ faces flushed with anger and indignation. Jada had been nothing but respectful to them, but now this newcomer was openly disrespectful.

“Who are you exactly? You have no right to say that here!” one of them snapped.

Susan, with a contemptuous smirk, didn’t answer that question. “You can flatter Jada all you want, but it’s Madisyn who holds Andrew’s heart. Jada will never be Mrs. Klein,” she said, her tone dripping with disdain. Then she turned sharply and left, her heels clicking defiantly on the floor.

The relatives erupted into heated whispers and angry murmurs.

With tears brimming in her eyes, Jada stepped forward to address the group. “Please don’t let her words upset you. My sister’s harshness comes from our personal issues. I’m truly sorry you had to experience this.”

“So, it’s your sister. What a letdown. She’s nothing compared to your family. Don’t worry, Jada, we’re here for you,” one of the relatives said.

Jada’s face expressed gratitude, but a steely resolve flashed in her eyes. She was unwavering in her ambition to marry Andrew.

The days dragged on, each one heavier than the last. Damari’s condition worsened with each passing hour, bringing him close to the edge. The tension in the room was palpable.

Everyone could see that Damari’s time was running out. At Damari’s bedside, a group of people wept openly, their sorrow filling the room.

Andrew had put aside all his responsibilities to stay by Damari’s side, his attention divided between caring for him and monitoring the progress in the lab. The new drug was nearly complete, and Mia had been working non-stop in the lab, expediting the progress.

It was their last chance to save Damari, and Andrew knew he owed Mia a great debt.

Damari lay motionless in his coma, and Andrew stood by, his face a mask of concern.

“Andrew, there’s something important I need to tell you,” Soren said, stepping closer with a grave expression. “Uncle Damari’s life is hanging by a thread. The future of the Klein family is in your hands now. We all know your strength, but remember this: don’t let a woman sway your decisions.”

Andrew regarded him with a cold, unwavering stare. Soren shifted nervously under Andrew’s intense gaze but tried to assert his authority. “Madisyn may be beautiful, but as the head of the Klein family, you need a fiancée who can truly support the family’s goals. Jada, for example, is not only sharp and capable but has also shown great dedication to Damari in recent days.”
