Comeback Of The Adored Heiress -
Chapter 473
Chapter 473:
There was a lot of public criticism aimed at the artists at Edge Entertainment. The difficult atmosphere for them was extremely challenging.
Madisyn checked out the film. Milly and Maxine were set to star in a science fiction film directed by a renowned director in the film industry. The production team was top-notch, and they aimed to make an international impact this time. The reputation of domestic science fiction films was poor, often ridiculed, so everyone hoped this film would enhance Lorpond’s standing.
“Miss Johns,” Maxine arrived, looking distracted.
Madisyn inquired, “What’s the matter? I’ve heard about your situation.”
“Yes, Global Entertainment has reached out to me,” Maxine said, looking at Madisyn. “They want to sign me.”
“What are they offering?” Madisyn asked.
“A contract as an A-level artist.”
This type of contract was highly coveted in the entertainment industry, and many aspired to an A-level contract from Global Entertainment. Global Entertainment was making a genuine effort.
“Not bad. Have you thought about it?” Madisyn asked.
Maxine quickly responded, “Miss Johns, please, you’re joking. If it weren’t for your support, I might no longer be in this industry. Moreover, although Global Entertainment is currently very influential, I’m not fond of their methods. As long as you’re here, I’m confident that Edge Entertainment will one day outshine Global Entertainment.”
Madisyn felt a surge of warmth in her heart. Her efforts were indeed paying off.
“Since you have such faith in me, I won’t disappoint you. I’m planning to produce my own movie. You’ll be the lead actress,” Madisyn said.
Maxine was taken aback. “Miss Johns, really?”

“It has the same theme as the project that dismissed you. Get ready for it.”
Maxine was moved by her words. “By the way, Miss Johns, if Global Entertainment is interested in signing me, they’re likely targeting others as well.”
“I understand.”
Maxine nodded and excused herself from the meeting when her phone rang.
“Honey, I’m coming to see you.”
“Mmone replied. “I can’t make it right now.”
“Why can’t you? Aren’t you done filming with that crew?” The voice on the other end sounded hurt. “I’m trying to replace you another role. I heard that Global Entertainment is after you. Is that true?”
“Yes, but Johns has already provided me with a new role, so I need to start preparing for that,” Maxine guided.
“Alright then. When can I see you?”
“I’ll call you when I have free time.” Maxine ended the call.
That afternoon, Madisyn received several resignation letters. Just before closing time, a group barged into her office and knelt before her.
“What is this about?” Madisyn asked coldly.
They exchanged glances, and finally, one person spoke up, “We know we’re in the wrong, but we have no other choices. If this continues, I won’t be able to afford my mortgage. Miss Johns, I need to resign, please.”
“Just follow the standard procedures,” Madisyn said, not looking up from her documents.
Everyone’s expression turned ashen. They were aware of the need to adhere to the protocol, yet that meant facing hefty liquidated damages! They were reluctant to pay such significant fines.
“Miss Johns, please, just let us go!” the group pleaded.
Madisyn’s assistant walked in just as this scene unfolded, and she immediately became infuriated. “Shame on all of you! The company has invested heavily in your training. Now you want to leave without paying the damages?”
“I’m sorry, Miss Johns. We have no other options,” everyone wept, looking utterly desolate. To outsiders, it might seem as if they had been mistreated by Madisyn. The assistant’s anger made her face flush red. “Our penalty fees are much more reasonable compared to other companies. Yet, you refuse to pay and create such a scene here. It’s truly shameful!”
There was silence. They knew it was true.
Still, everyone must look out for themselves. With the threat posed by Global Entertainment, they, as lesser-known talents, had virtually nothing left. Staying would mean facing an inevitable decline.
“I understand that Global Entertainment has put you in a tough spot. But I promise things will improve within a month. If you wish to stay, you’re welcome to. If not, you only need to pay half the usual penalty to leave,” Madisyn said, looking at them earnestly.
Only half the penalty? This proposition touched everyone. Ultimately, most decided to pay and leave.
The assistant clenched her teeth and said, “Miss Johns, you’re far too kind to them, yet they show no gratitude at all!”
