Coming Home For Christmas -
Chapter 89
Logan's
P.O.V.
There's a saying that says siblings tend to bring out the best and worst in each other and it's true because I've witnessed it with both my wife and her siblings, my kids and also between myself and my own siblings.
There's also that bond and unconditional love between siblings that is supposed to be eternal and unbreakable but unfortunately, that isn't the case for some and unfortunately, even though the love may still be there, the bond isn't and it can never be repaired. This is the case with my wife who is in the process of repairing her relationship with her older brother Justin and there's no chance in hell her relationship with Luca will ever be repaired, at least not in the next few years unless he sorts himself out but then there's Liam. Liam is only guilty of not protecting Lacey and for not standing up for her when she needed him the most, he hasn't hurt her mentally or physically like the others have, so he's got a good chance of making things right with her but it's whether she wants to.
Lacey has become completely stone-hearted towards her family ever since that day at her parent's house, not that I can blame her, so the chances of her even reading Liam's letter are slim to none right now but I'm gonna try for him because he looked absolutely lost out there tonight.
"Who was that man, daddy?"
My eldest boy asks me.
He was sitting at the top of the stairs and he looked like he's been waiting there for me.
"That was your uncle Liam, he wanted me to give your mom something"
Logan Junior looked down at the envelope in my hand before looking back at me.
"He was sad"
"Why do you say that?"
I ask as I narrow my eyes at him.
"Because his eyes look just like mummy's do when she's sad"
Logan Junior says sadly.
"Come on buddy, let's get you to bed, hmm"
I pick my son up and carry him to his room where Dayton was already snoring away in his own bed.
I put Logan Junior in his bed and turned his night light on before going over to my other son and moving him onto his side so that his loud a*s snoring won't prevent his brother from going to sleep.
"Goodnight, buddy"
"Goodnight, dad"
I was about to leave the room when my son suddenly stopped me.
"Daddy"
"Yes, son"
"Do you know Santa Claus?"
Logan Junior asks me and I smile.
"I do...every mommy and daddy knows who Santa Claus is, why do you ask?"
"Because I want you to give him a message for me"
"Really? and what message is that?"
Logan Junior was silent for a few seconds before speaking again and his words both melted and broke my heart.
"Can you tell him I only want one present for Christmas this year and that's for my mummy to be happy again...she's sad and I don't like it...she thinks we don't see it but we do, we're smart and we can see when our mummy isn't happy...can yc tell Santa that I'll give up my other presents if he can make my mummy smile like she used to again"
He says and I smile sadly at him.
"I'll make sure he gets your message, son"
"Thanks, dad"
Logan Junior says as he turns over on his side.
I leave my son's room and head towards my room with a heavy heart.
Normally kids ask for really outlandish gifts that their parents can't get them, I mean just the other day, Teddy asked me if I could get her an actual star from the sky for Christmas but my boy just wants his mom to be happy and this is something I can personally give him but I don't know if it's something I can do before Christmas. "Oh my god, Klayton, thank you so much, you're such a freaking diamond"
I hear my wife's elated voice as I walk into our room.
I look at my wife as I strip out of my clothes and I couldn't help but be in awe at how stunningly beautiful she looks. She's only wearing her silk nightgown and a pair of glasses but she looks so beautiful and sexy and I feel so unbelievably blessed to call this woman mine.
"No don't worry, Klay, Logan and Abby said they'll come with me...ok, yeah"
The room fell silent before Lacey's delightful chuckles filled the room.
"Yes cousin, I remember, Logan and I are like the three monkeys when it comes to GIGI, we saw nothing, we heard nothin and we won't speak anything...ok, love you too, bye...bye"
Lacey hangs up the phone and looks up at me with a smile as I get into bed with her.
"Hi, babe"
"Hey, love"
I lean in and kiss her lips.
"What's got you so happy, my love?"
"Klayton has, he's managed to get me an address for GiGi's family, he's also got me all of their contact information which isn't much but still, it's something and he's also managed to get me the kid's school information as well as their grandparents work information so that we've got other options to explore if they're not at home when we go there tomorrow"
"That's great but what's our plan for them?"
I ask and Lacey lets out a sigh as she takes off her glasses and gently rubs the bridge of her nose like she always does after wearing them.
"Well, according to Klayton, GiGi's parents are workhorses and always have been but I wanna give them the option of retiring so that they can rest and focus on the kids but if they don't want to do that and they wanna continue to work ther we can offer them both jobs around the mansion and give them the same type of benefits as our other employees get"
"What about the kids?"
"I wanna put them in a good school because from what I've heard, the school they're in right now isn't a good one, it's state-funded and it's falling apart because the state are being tight-fisted with money because of how bad the economy is" "Sounds good but you've forgotten one thing"
I say with a smirk.
"What's that?"
Lacey asks while scrunching her face up which makes her look so freaking cute.
"Where are they gonna live?"
"Oh...well, I was thinking maybe the pool house, I mean it's perfect for them, it's got three bedrooms, a kitchen, a bathroom, a living room, it's got AC for the summer and heating for the winter, it's perfect for a little family of four" She says and I narrow my eyes at her.
"Is that why you've been hanging out there the past couple of days?"
I ask my wife who starts to act sheepishly.
"Maybe...I may have made this decision in advance and I got some of our staff to clean it up and buy some new things fo it to make it look more homey for them"
"Is that all?"
I ask and Lacey was silent as she looked down at her fidgeting hands.
"Look at me, Lacey Black"
Lacey lets out a sigh and looks up at me.
"Ok fine, I also had them buy the kids some toys and some new clothes for all of them and I've arranged for a couple of the maids to stock the fridge and cupboards up tomorrow before we bring them back here"
She says and I smile.
"You're so cute, love"
"I just want them to feel comfortable when they come here, Logan... Klayton said he's had some of his men keep watch over GiGi's family for a few days now and from what they can gather, they're not doing so well, they're all wearing hand-me-down clothes and according to a neighbour they talked to, the grandfather has got a car but he can't afford to drive it, so they have to walk everywhere which isn't good for them and their health and it's not good for any of them in th weather...oh god, I don't even wanna imagine what type of Christmas they were planning on having for the kids since the can barely rub two nickels together"
Lacey says sadly.
"It's ok, babe, they're gonna be ok, I promise you"
"I know, I just...I don't understand...how can a person have four million dollars at their disposal and instead of using it to put their parents in a better home or help them with their health insurance or help give their kids a better life, she decides to leave her family to rot so that she can use the money on a hit man to kill four people and all for a man who doesn't eve want her? who does this type of thing?"
"A psycho, love and that's why you made the brave decision to end GiGi for good before she could do any more damage t us or anyone else for that matter because just like Klayton and Cassidy said babe, psychos like her never stop"
"I guess"
Lacey says with a sigh as she rests her head on my shoulders.
"Some people just don't deserve to have kids or a family"
"No, they don't but speaking of family...a member of yours dropped by here tonight"
I say and Lacey snaps her head up as she looks at me confused.
"Huh...who?"
"It was Liam...he wanted me to give you this"
I said as I handed Lacey the letter.
She nervously took it from me and held it like it was a bomb that was about to go off if she held it wrong.
"To my little princess"
She whispers the four words that are written on the front of it as she strokes her fingers over the cursive writing. "What's in it?"
"I don't know, love but I think whatever it is, it's something which Liam hopes will gain him your forgiveness and help repa your relationship with each other"
I said and Lacey briefly looked up at me before looking back at the envelope.
She looked hesitant to open it and I don't blame her after everything she's been through.
Lacey eventually bit the bullet and opened it and I just sat there with hope in my heart that whatever Liam has put in this letter wouldn't make things worse between the two siblings.
Either way, whether it's a bridge to repair their relationship or a match to burn the remaining shreds to ashes, I was here for Lacey like I always will be.
