Chapter 102
Chapter 102
Aaron, stop. I'm not drinking that one. Her head felt like it was full of cotton balls, her ears ringing and her eyes watering when she laughed and pushed her best friend away from her.
"Oh, come on, don't be a party pooper, Kate Jean tried to force the shot glass into her hand for the third time, but she still refused it.
"Aaron, be nice to her. Just because she's completely off her rocker and marrying our boss, of all people, doesn't mean she needs to be totally shit faced a few days before her wedding" Harry took the shot glass for himself, downing the clear liquid inside with a heavy wince
She smiled at him gratefully, sitting back in her seat to look at the small group gathered around her.
This was her bachelorette party, of sorts. They were in a small bar in the middle of Feilding, New Zealand. She had three days left of being Katrina Morgan. Three days until she walk down an aisle and meet Kylan at the end of it What a fever dream. What a good dream
Aaron and Maine came to support her, as well as Harry and even Max. Ryan and Oscar were out with Kylan, attempting to get him to let loose for oner. Kylan had been a bit of a wreck, over the last week. Nerves were getting to him, aruf he had spent more than a few hours on the phone with has therapist to help him work through his feelings..
They weren't about her, so he promised her. He never doubted his love or commitment to her. It was purely his own trauma, his own self-hatred that will made him believe he didn't deserve this level of happiness.
gave
him space when he needed it. She comforted him when he needed it. Her relationship was a well-oiled machine, at this point. She knew every quirk, she memorized every look, and she took care of each other in turn. She only hoped that Ryan and Oscar were h having at least some luck, but she couldn't help but laugh at the mental image of Kylan completely miserable in one of the most beautiful cities in the world.
She turned her focus to her friends again, laughing, talking, and reminiscing with them. She nursed a water that Max ordered for her, thankful that her friends were here. That they wanted to be here. That they wanted to support she, even if they thought she were insane for marrying someone hke Kylan
Kylan, who was stoic and o
cold. Kylan, who never smiled or laughed.
That was the Kylan they knew. But the Kylan she knew? He was warm and soft. He did smile, even if only to her. He did laugh, even if only in the privacy of the penthouse they shared.
As she laughed so hard with her friends that her sides hurt pleasantly, she couldn't help but smile. Really smile.
Because the Kylan she knew! He was her dream come true.

A loud sigh, followed by more shifting, and more pacing
She glanced up from the notebook strewn across her lap, resting her back against the headboard on the bed behind her. She bit her tongue so she wouldn't laugh at Kylan. Kylan, who was trying to write his vows. Kylan, who scowled at the floor while he walked
He was wearing her favorite pair of black sweatpants, along with his glasses, and nothing else. In the dim glow of the lamp on the bedside table nest to her, he looked especially handsome. Handsome, and grumpy. The deep-set scowl and the way he held his jaw, spoke volumes to her.
"Rylan, why don't you take a break?" she offered, patting the empty bed next to her.
Kylan scoffed, shaking his head, a bit of his bangs falling in front of the lenses of his glasses. "No. I only have a few lines written. I can't afford to take i break, he snapped, continuing his incessant pacing.
She rolled her eyes, moving her pen and notebook out of the way before pushing the duvet off her legs so she could get up. She walked over stopping in front of him to place her hands along his shoulders.

"Kylan. Stop," she spoke sweetly, but firmly, and he looked at her with a glare still fixed

"I can't stop, Katrina. I know your vows are going to be perfect. All sappy and shit. Probably will make everyone cry," he grumbled, pinching the bridge of his nose beneath his glasses while balancing his favorite pen between his fingers. "If you were still my assistant, I'd ask you to write my wows for me," he admited with another glare sent her way
She laughed at him, shaking her head before taking his face between her hands. "You don't need to write anything long or crazy, Kylan. Just a few sentences, really. I don't care. I honestly don't. I'm excited to be your wife, not to hear your vows. Those are just particulars, you know?" She shrugged her shoulders, smiling at him reassuringly
Kylan groaned, allowing his forehead to knock against hers. He set his pen and paper down on a table near her, his arms now moving to encircle her waist. "I'm not good at this shit, Katrina. I've never talked about my feelings in front of a crowd like this. Only to you. You're the only one care about. I know it was my bright idea to have a bigger wedding, but I only did that because you deserve it. You deserve all of it" He exhaled heavily

his warm breath fanning her face.
"Kylan, I swear to you. I don't care about your vows. You could tell me you love me, and that would be enough. You're enough. You're more than enough," she promised him, leaning forward to place a kiss on his frowning lips. "You're not supposed to just be okay with shit like that. Expect more from me, Katrina," Kylan insisted, tightening his hold on her waist.
She couldn't stop a small laugh from escaping her throat. "Kylan, I expect a lot from you. But you've met those expectations, which is why I'm marrying you in two days. This isn't something I'm worried about." She shrugged again, moving her hands to cup the locks of his freshly cut hair. She gave him a cheeky grin. "I think you need to relax, before you can finish writing your vows. Your vows that aren't a big deal. She stared up at him, watching him watch her. His pupils were already dilated, the grey of his eyes nearly eclipsing completely because of it
"Let
me help you relax, Kylan. And then you can go back to overthinking"
