CONTRACTLY, IT'S YOU
4 - THE DATE

"That's not what I meant," I slipped away from his grip. "I don't want kids either, I was just saying,"

He eyed me and sat back down. "That's what I heard,"

"I just wanted to know if you don't like kids," I spat, blinking at him nervously.

"What do you think about having children? Really?" He looked at me.

"Whatever," I sniffed nervously and walked back to my seat. I don't know what came of me to ask such. I wouldn't want a kid either. It was a rule, a command just like I hated marriage, I didn't want kids.

I had already lost my appetite, but I was almost done with my food. "I'll do the dishes," I stood up.

"Oh, I brewed your coffee, have some before you go out,"

I paused. "I'm going out?"

"Shopping, you need a new dress for the family dinner. My stepbrother is back from Sweden." Kai stood up. Took my plate from me. "I'll do the dishes. You go prepare."

I nodded when he planted a kiss on my cheek. I turned around to head for my room, but I turned back instead. "Why don't you follow me?"

"Me?"

"Yeah, you can check out the dresses for me." I gulped, nervous. "To be honest, it would be nice to have you at the store, don't you think that's a better approach, ummm... take it as a date! We can get ice cream or see a movie," I itched my head.

I don't know what came over me, but I pray he doesn't turn me down. I folded my hands behind my back, attacking each finger as I waited for his reply.

"Sounds great," he replied.

My spirit jumped at his response! My smile widened. "I'll go prepare," I sprinted into my bedroom.

As I shut the door, I rested on it. "Hold on, why am I so happy?" I slapped my cheek so hard that it burnt.

I continued to the closet despite hating the plan of being happy because Kai was tagging along.

"Something bright and nice, something feminine," I sang to myself. Once the realization kicked in again, I screamed. "Get a grip, Tiffany! It's not real!"

I picked out a white knitted matching set- long skirts and a top. Finished my look with a brown mule.

I grabbed a small white purse and put all my necessities, I stared at the Jens red lipstick. I quickly checked myself in the mirror. The lipstick I had on was okay, so I grabbed it. It might be useful.

I walked out of my bedroom, and my jaw dropped. Kai had changed so fast, and the dishes were done. He wore a red polo and a black short. My gaze fell to his legs, and I immediately caught his eyes. Sneakily, I took a peep at those strong muscular legs.

"Are you done checking me out?" He said, walked past me, grabbed his car keys, and headed outside. I quickly followed, walking behind him.

"Checking you out?" I asked, disgusted. Maybe I was, but he didn't have to spill it out. He opened the door, staring at me.

I looked around and noticed he approached the passenger seat, and I foolishly followed subconsciously.

"Get in," he said. I nodded, obeying. I sat quietly, watching him turn and get into the car.

Kai started the engine and drove off. I held my phone tightly, hoping it would calm my restless heart. I took silent breaths while he drove quietly.

The awkward silence was becoming too much for me to take, I leaned and turned on the music, lowering the window and gazing out.

As soon as the music started, I looked at him. It was a slow, romantic orchestra playing. He immediately turned it off, took a sneak peek at me, and continued on the road. "Don't pay attention to that," he said. I nodded, I never thought he could listen to such.

Thirty minutes later, we arrived at the Gisa shopping mall. I got down before he could turn around. He handed the keys to a tall, dark man. While we walked into the mall. As much as I tried to contain my happiness. I couldn't, I let my set of teeth show shamelessly because when I wasn't pressured, I loved shopping.

I directed him to a store. The lady immediately greeted us, I gazed at the dresses. My heart was pounding. The lady walked closer to me.

"What would you like, Ma'am," my gaze shifted to Kai, who seemed busy on his phone.

"A dress, something simple," I replied.

I shivered when I heard Kai's voice. I turned around to replace him by a set of gowns. "Why don't we test this one?"

I looked at the dress he held. My jaw nearly dropped, and I shook my head. "No,"

"Yes, I think this would fit your skin tone, Ma'am, and it's lovely," the lady said. Kai handed her the dress to the next one.

I sighed, staring at his shop for me. The lady seemed to repeat everything she had said again once he picked a gown.

"I want to try this," I walked to the gown I had been eyeing since I got into the store.

"I don't want something simple on you. It would be a waste of your exquisite shape," Kai said. I swallowed, and my cheeks burned.

I glanced at the lady, tensed. I couldn't believe that came out of his lips so smoothly.

I cleared my throat, lifting my brows slightly. "Um, well. I like this, I want it."

Kai looked at the dress and the lady who held a lot of dresses in her hand.

"I'll go check it out," I shrugged and walked into the dressing room.

I froze inside the dressing room, releasing my breath. "Exquisite?" I mumbled. "That's a fucking strong word."

I proceeded to change. As soon as I was sure that I was really dressed, I opened the door walking out.

"Well? What do you think?" I asked. Kai's eyes softened, and he gazed at me with a semblance of warmth.

He furrowed his brows, lowering his gaze. "Yeah," he cleared his throat and looked at me. "I guess that's it."

I don't know what it was, but his reaction sent a shiver down my spine. I wasn't expecting it to. The tone of his voice sounded soft.

Our eyes met each other's, and the atom of warmth I had seen seconds ago was gone. His eyes were cold again. He picked up his phone and walked out to answer a call.

I pouted, staring at myself in the mirror. I rolled my eyes and went to change.

We got our products, Kai had already paid while I was changing. We walked around the mall. I looked around for a cinema, I needed to fulfil what I had promised him. Once, I found one. I took him by his wrist, taking him to the cinema.
