Countdown 15 Departing From the Alpha (Evelyn) -
I Become Novel 4
Chapter 04
I smiled faintly and set my phone down
It felt strange.. those messages no longer made me angry, sad, or even tearful.
Maybe this was what it meant to truly let go.
In the days that followed, Lucas often left early and returned late, claiming he was busy preparing for our engagement ceremony.
I no longer had the energy to pay attention to him. Instead, I focused on submitting my request to transfer packs at the Werewolf Council.
Because of my unique circumstances, I had always been considered a Silver Moon pack member by birth. That meant I didn't need Lucas's approval as Alpha..my transfer was automatically processed.
When the transfer was finalized, I celebrated with my family.
The dinner wasn't just with my parents but also my three older brothers. They were all tall, handsome, and eager to spoil me like a princess.
Surrounded by their love, I laughed more freely than I had in a long time.
I was already looking forward to leaving this city and starting fresh somewhere new.
**June 20th Tuesday**
Ten days before the engagement ceremony, I received my new identification from the Werewolf
Council
As I was leaving, I ran into Simon, Lucas's Beta.
He looked surprised.
"Evelyn? What are you doing here? Alpha told me he'd be out picking wedding dresses for the engagement today!”
Ifroze. Lucas hadn't mentioned any of this to me.
“Get in the car. I'll take you to the mall-you might still make it in time.”

Before I could protest, Simon pulled me into the car and hit the gas.
“You're the bride-to-be! How could you miss something as important as choosing your dress?"
I forced a small, bitter smile.
I wasn't just skipping the dress selection. I had no plans to attend the ceremony at all.
When we arrived at the bridal boutique, the store was full of newlyweds-to-be. Couples stood close, their eyes shining with love and dreams for the future.
And then I saw them, Lucas standing behind Daisy, holding her in his arms as she tried on a wedding dress. His lips brushed her cheek.
"You look beautiful, baby."
Lucas's expression shifted the moment he saw me. He quickly pushed Daisy away and stammered, "Darling, what are you doing here? Don't get the wrong idea! Daisy's just helping you try on dresses since you've been so busy lately. She's about your size, so it made sense!"
I said nothing and glanced at the mirror behind them.
They didn't notice the reflection, how the mirror clearly showed their hands tightly clasped behind Daisy's back.
"Oh, Evelyn!" Daisy twirled in the dress, flashing a smug smile. "What do you think? Do you like this. one?" "It doesn't matter."
I replied flatly. The dress didn't matter because it would never be mine.
Just then, the sales assistant approached, beaming.
"Miss, this dress is the crown jewel of our collection. It's absolutely stunning, and you two look perfect together."
Daisy blushed and shot Lucas a flirtatious glance.
Lucas looked uncomfortable and gestured toward me. "Actually, she's my fiancée."
The assistant froze, then quickly apologized to me.
Lucas turned to me. "What do you think of this dress on Daisy? If you like it, we'll order it."
After Hodionet shetrayal. 1 Become Alpha's Hei
Noticing my expression, the assistant hurried to bring out more options, but before I could say anything. Daisy began criticizing them one by one.
"This one looks cheap."
"That one's too bulky."
“And this one? It's something a country bumpkin would wear."
Compared to the ‘masterpiece' Daisy was wearing, the other dresses suddenly seemed plain,
The assistant led us to a lounge area to continue browsing, but Lucas slipped out, saying he needed a smoke.
That left me alone with Daisy.
She flipped through the dress catalog before suddenly sneering,
“Evelyn, Lucas said you're like a dead fish in bed-boring as hell. Do you know how many exciting things we've done together? We even had some fun earlier while I was wearing this dress."
She wanted to provoke me. But I stayed calm.
Is there a point to bragging about cheating? If Lucas really loves you, make him change the brid in the ceremony."
Daisy's face reddened, but she quickly recovered with a mocking laugh.
“Lucas and I are both Alpha bloodlines-the purest heirs in the pack. We're the perfect match. But you? Your Omega adoptive parents are dead, leaving you a pathetic orphan. Give up the idea of being Luna, you're a homeless dingo who doesn't deserve Lucas."
My heart clenched.
I had only ever told Lucas about my adoption. Yet here was Daisy, armed with my secret.
The funniest part? Daisy knew my adoptive parents had died, but Lucas didn't even notice.
They were wrong, though. I wasn't an orphan.
In terms of bloodline, I was no less noble than any werewolf here. And my real parents loved me enough to search for me for over a decade after losing me.
Jhet Daisy's gaze and spoke calmly.
You don't need to try so hard to provoke me. If Lucas wants to marry you, then I wish you both a happy life together."
It wasn't Daisy who took away my mate.
Lucas was simply unworthy of me.
And I didn't want him anymore.
The sales assistant's voice rang out from outside the lounge, interrupting our tense conversation.
"Miss, have you found a wedding dress you like? You're welcome to try them on if you'd like."
Daisy smirked, brushing aside my indifference. “If you're really as calm as you say, let's see who Lucas truly cares about more."
With that, she pushed open the door and randomly picked the plainest dress off the rack. Turning toward
Lucas, she held it up.
