Crushed Affections (Dominic and Bella)
Chapter 373 Pregnant Again

Bella was extremely dazed and reluctantly opened the door. She tried to appear extremely tired. "I think I'll pass. I was on shift last night and am exhausted. I just want to rest at home."

Wesley looked like a tyrant as he swung his car keys. "I'm taking you for a spin to relax yourself. When you're tired, you need to relax."

She rejected his offer once again, "I'm too old for joyrides. You go on your own. I can't keep up with you youngsters. Let me off the hook, will you?"

His eyes glinted slightly as he asked, "What? Are you scared?"

Obviously, he was trying to provoke her, but Bella didn't take the bait. "Yes, I'm scared."

Upon hearing her answer, Wesley laughed exaggeratedly as he clutched his stomach. "No way! Is it that terrifying that I'm pursuing you? Or could it be I'm not your type of man? Give me a few years, and I'll be like Dominic. I'm no worse than him, whether it's family power or appearance. I'm only younger, so that should be an advantage, right?"

The mention of Dominic hit a sore spot for her, and her mood plummeted. "I really don't want to go. You have fun by yourself."

He didn't press the matter further. "Fine. Everyone's like this after a breakup. You can call me anytime you get tired of being lonely."

Bella wanted to kick him, but she lacked the courage. She knew she couldn't win a fight and couldn't afford to upset someone like him.

Wesley still came across as too young and reckless. She couldn't figure out which powerful family he came from to be so arrogant. In Joville, no one could rival Dominic in terms of wealth and status.

...

A month passed uneventfully without much warmth until the weather eventually warmed up, and fresh buds sprouted on the bare trees by the roadside.

Dominic didn't show up that month, and Bella gradually found peace again. As expected, as long as they didn't see each other, she would eventually be able to forget him and move on.

The only thing giving her a headache was that little brat, Wesley. He kept going to her place for meals, acting like it was his home. But at the very least, he was courteous enough to wash the dishes and leave without too much hassle. She eventually accepted him as a harmless little neighbor.

The quiet was broken one morning when the ER brought in a patient who had suffered a heart attack and was in shock.

Bella worked tirelessly in the

operating room for several hours, but the patient couldn't be saved. The patient was elderly, and their

body had deteriorated in many net

the

ways. To make matters worse, patient was brought in during rush hour, and the delay in getting to the hospital had cost valuable time.

This was the first time she witnessed a patient dying on her operating table, and she was the one who had to declare the resuscitation unsuccessful. The patient's relatives cried wildly in the corridor, and the overwhelming noise made Bella dizzy. Before she knew it, her vision went black, and she fainted. When she awoke, she was in the breakroom. She thought that she was just exhausted and it wasn't anything serious.

Ethan was by her side the entire time. He had an odd look on his face. When he saw her awake, he handed her a glass of water. "Drink some water."

Bella drank the water all in one go, feeling slightly better. "Thanks. I'm alright; just feeling tired. That's how the ER works, right? I've been working here for so long, but I'm still not used to it—" "No. It's because you're pregnant," he quickly interrupted her.

His words took her aback. She couldn't believe the things he was saying. "What? How is that possible..."

Before Bella could finish her

sentence, she lost all the confidence

to continue. It had been a while

since her last period. She had

assumed that her hormone

imbalance was caused by tiredness and erratic sleep patterns. But

suddenly, it seemed that wasn't the case at all.
