After experiencing the harsh realities of life and feeling completelyhopeless, Lachlan finally regained his rationality. He thought aboutClaudia's reaction after seeing Nora earlier.

The little one had opened her arms wide and happily pounced on hermother, but Claudia only gave Nora a casual pat on the head. Her gaze,however, lingered on Miranda's Bentley Mulsanne!

Was this the appropriate response from a mother who had endured somuch to treat her daughter's illness?

For a moment, Lachlan's eyes flickered with emotion before he calmeddown once again. He watched Claudia's performance as if he were animpartial observer.

"Claudia, how much money did you get from Tom? Give it to me now!"Lachlan pushed Claudia away from him and grabbed her shouldersanxiously.

Claudia was taken aback by his sudden demand and looked at himstrangely. She had seen him drive off in his Bentley after impressingRowan and his crew; she assumed that he didn't need any more money.She didn't know what opportunities had come Lachlan's way thatturned him into such an impressive figure! That was why she came backwith thoughts of reconciling with him.

Of course, she hadn't broken things off with Tom yet; she would do thatonce she officially got together with Lachlan.

But she never expected Lachlan to ask her for money. Did this guy stillneed money?

"What's wrong? Weren't you following Tom to raise money for Nora'streatment? What about the money?" Lachlan asked anxiously.

"Don't you have any money? Besides, isn't Nora better now?" Claudia'seyes flickered a few times.

"No! She just temporarily used some special medicine, so there hasbeen some improvement! And if we replace a matching bone marrowdonor, it will cost a lot of money!"

Then a group of people jumped out of the cars!

The leader was a young man who walked with wind. Several fiercefollowers followed behind him.

It was none other than Miranda's brother Mason!

After entering the door and seeing Lachlan, Mason snorted coldly.

"As long as you're here!"

Lachlan raised an eyebrow. "Little brother-in-law, why are you soangry?"

Mason glared at Lachlan with cold eyes and said, "Get lost! Who do youthink you are calling me your little brother-in-law? You're not worthy!Don't think that my sister can fool me into thinking that you're anythingmore than a puppet. And a puppet with ulterior motives at that!"

At this moment, Mason was filled with anger. Miranda was his closestsister, and he would always stand by her side no matter what.

Even though the entire Lowe family supported Miranda marrying intothe Austin family, Mason remained steadfast in his support for hissister. This showed just how deep their bond truly was.

So when he discovered someone scheming to get close to his belovedsister for some unknown purpose, Mason exploded in rage!

He personally led a team of men to capture Lachlan overnight!

"What puppet? What are you talking about?" Claudia asked Lachlanskeptically after hearing Mason's words.

Lachlan shrugged and replied nonchalantly, "Like I said before, I soldmyself to someone else. She's the daughter of the Lowe family and Ipretended to be her fiancé - or rather - her fake fiancé since we gottogether through unconventional means.”

"That Bentley over there belongs to her too. I'm just a driver,” he addedUpon hearing this news, Claudia's face turned sour as she glared atLachlan menacingly.

"What about Rowan from earlier?" she asked him pointedly.

"He probably did it out of respect for the Lowe family since they're suchan influential clan in Edoland,” replied Lachlan casually as he grabbedonto Claudia's shoulders urgently.

"Claudia, don't ask so many questions! I've spent all 80 thousandearned from selling myself already; Nora needs further treatment nowso it's up to you to pay for it! Quick tell me how much money have yousqueezed out of Tom?"

"I won't pay any damn money!" retorted Claudia furiously. "So not onlyare you broke but also shameless enough to live off others’ wealth?!Being someone else's fake fiancé is bad enough but now we know itwasn't even real?! Disgusting!”

Claudia slapped Lachlan's hand away, her face full of strong disgust andcontempt.

Lachlan stood there and chuckled, his laughter filled with mockery.Mocking himself just now, he actually still held a hint of luck towardsClaudia.

"Lachlan Willis, what are you trying to pull here? If you don't want todie, come with me! I advise you to cooperate nicely, or else my guysaren't known for being careful with their trigger fingers!" At thismoment, Mason impatiently scolded.

As he spoke, several of Mason's henchmen behind him reached intotheir pockets and pulled out handguns, all of them aiming at Lachlansimultaneously.
