Zak's appreciation for Lachlan was not hidden at all, from calling himhis first name to even wanting to introduce his own daughter to him.Although it may have sounded abrupt, it was actually well thought out.His medical skills were so advanced that even Clifford felt inferior. Thesignificance of befriending such a skilled doctor was self-evident.Furthermore, his martial arts skills were impressive upon first testing!Aside from the other benefits that could come with befriendingLachlan, just having someone like him develop in the military wouldmean limitless potential for the future.

Zak truly had developed feelings of admiration and respect for Lachlan.However, Mason beside him was getting anxious and frustrated.Goodness gracious! The more Zak talked about introducing Scarlet, hisdream lover to his brother-in-law, the more absurd it seemed!

Scarlet was Mason's dream girl after all. Now Zak wanted to introduceher to his brother-in-law?

"Mr. Harris, he is my sister's husband!" Mason said helplessly yeturgently.

As soon as these words fell out of his mouth, Zak suddenly becamestunned, "Your sister's husband? Which sister?"

"My real sister Miranda," Mason replied with a bitter smile on his face.Upon hearing this response, Zak clicked his tongue and said, "Then itmust be fake!"

Obviously, Zak had also heard about Miranda replaceing someone topretend to be her fiancé and fight against the family's arrangedmarriage. So when he heard that Lachlan was Miranda's husband, hedidn't take it seriously at all. He was just a little curious as to whysomeone as capable as Lachlan would play this role.

"No! It's not fake! This time it's real!" Mason quickly shook his head,afraid that Zak would still try to match Scarlet with Lachlan.

As he spoke, he hugged Lachlan by the shoulder and leaned in close,showing how intimate they were, "Mr. Harris, he is really my brother-in-law! My real brother-in-law!"

"Right? Brother-in-law?" Mason said while winking at Lachlan.

Lachlan was speechless for a moment. Now he had become his realbrother-in-law?

But although Scarlet was beautiful, he didn't have any thoughts abouther. He smiled lightly and said, "Yes Mr. Harris, both me and Mirandahave gotten our marriage certificate already. And I'm already a fathertoo. Scarlet is stunningly beautiful; if I could be her big brother I'd behonored."

Since Zak treated him well now, there wasn't much else for him to sayexcept praise his daughter.

Hearing this statement, Zak laughed heartily a few times; it seemed likehis previous thoughts were unnecessary after all.

Even if Zak admired him greatly, he wouldn't let his daughter getinvolved with another woman's husband.

"I apologize for being rude earlier,” Zak said politely. "Scarlet why don'tyou greet him?"

Scarlet pursed her lips but didn't feel any resistance in her heart. Shesweetly called out, "Brother Lachlan!"

Lachlan was her savior, and he was truly exceptional. It didn't botherhim that Scarlet called him “brother.” Mason watched Lachlan with envyand resentment in his eyes, feeling a twinge of bitterness as Scarletcalled Lachlan brother. If only Scarlet could call him like that, he wouldwake up laughing from his dreams.

Zak continued to chat with Lachlan while Clifford couldn't resist askingfor medical advice from the man holding the Dragon Emperor's Canon.Lachlan gave clear and concise answers to all his questions, leavingClifford feeling enlightened and sitting up straight like a schoolboy infront of his teacher.

Zak was even more impressed by Lachlan's eloquence and tried to replaceout if he had any plans for advancement in the military. However, it wasgetting late, and Lachlan had to leave because he missed Nora athome. Zak gave him a free pass to come back anytime.

As they left the military zone, Mason ordered his two subordinates totake another car while he talked privately with his brother-in-lawbehind the wheel.

"What else do you want to talk about? If you were able to make friendswith Zak today, you could have done so earlier with the Ward family,"asked Lachlan from the passenger seat as he raised an eyebrow.Mason chuckled, "No, no, it's not about that! Brother-in-law, I believeyou now..."

He coughed a few times and nervously continued, "I'm pursuing Scarletand you've seen it. So some of the things you saw before, brother-in-law, you have to keep it to yourself and don't tell Zak or Scarlet!"

Zak admired Lachlan so much that he even introduced Scarlet to him.They exchanged contact information and would probably be seeingeach other often in the future.

In case... Mason thought to himself, if Lachlan said somethingunexpected, he felt like he would lose all hope.

As the words fell, Lachlan responded with a questioning "Hmm?" beforerealizing what Mason was hinting at. A mischievous smile crept onto hisface.

"You mean the day you were surrounded by many women at the casino,right?"

"Brother-in-law, I'm not that kind of playboy. I had strict upbringingsince childhood and I am deeply in love with Scarlet. That day was justbecause she told me she had already gotten together with Conor whichhit me hard emotionally so I went to replace two girls at random in hopesof releasing my emotions!" Mason explained anxiously.

"What do you need to explain to me for?" Lachlan shruggednonchalantly.

"Just don't go blabbering about it!" Mason warned sternly.

"How are you talking to me?" Lachlan teased.

Mason tugged at the corner of his mouth, finally revealing a pleasingsmile. "Brother-in-law, you're my real brother-in-law! I'm your littlebrother, and when your little brother needs help replaceing a girlfriend,you as the big brother have to lend a hand. Right? In Edoland there'snothing I can't handle.”

Lachlan nodded his head. "Don't worry, as long as you behave well, Iwon't say anything.”

Hearing this made Mason breathe a sigh of relief.

But in his heart he thought: Do I have any leverage that this cheap-assbrother-in-law could use against me?

On the way back home, Mason drove and personally took Lachlan backto his rental house.

When he got home, Nora was still asleep.

The night passed without incident...

The next day, Lachlan first drove Nora to kindergarten before headingover to pick up Miranda for work from her estate.

Security in this villa area was pretty good but since the BentleyMulsanne had already been registered, there were no obstaclesentering or leaving

However, upon arriving at Miranda's villa living room door, Lachlancould faintly hear an argument inside.

"Uncle, Auntie,” said Miranda's voice with a hint of anger. "My affairsdon't seem to concern you guys right?"

"How is it not our business?" Romeo Lowe, Miranda's uncle retortedangrily. "You're replaceing yourself another toy boy again; isn't thatprovoking Mr. Austin? Isn't that provoking the Austin family?"

"If you really anger the Austin family, our entire family will suffer withyou! I'm telling you, kick that pretty boy to the curb now. Otherwise,we'll take care of him before Mr. Austin even gets a chance!"

"Where is this pretty boy? Bring him here!" Romeo was a dominantfigure and barked at Miranda.

"I'm here," Lachlan replied as he walked in with a calm expression.
