“Men! Our friend Captain Dusk has been imprisoned in that fort! I say, let’s go get him back! Fire!” Colton shouted.

Lifting the tip of his hat, he looked in hope at the fort as cannons thundered and caused massive amounts of stone to explode into rubble. Rowboats arrived on shore before some of his crews stormed out and began to assault the fort. Little did the british know, they were fighting a three front battle.

The first few guards fell quickly. Barely even enough time to gasp before they were dead. Making his way up to the top, a doorway on his right revealed a room loaded with gunpowder barrels. Grinning like a demon, he set a trail of powder before judging the distance of the dive into the water. He’d survive unharmed. Lighting it, Jack dove off the battlements into the water as the spark raced like a rabbit along the line of gunpowder to the barrel. It set off a cataclysmic reaction that sent four levels crumbling in on each other with soldiers and all. Swimming to the shore, he laughed at how Colton would’ve reacted to seeing that display. After stalking through the town and meeting up with some of Colton’s crew, he raced with a small escort to the boats before they started rowing like mad back to the ship. The rest of Colton’s men had retreated back to the boats and were soon following by the time he was on deck.

“Colton! Pull your ships out before they send one after us!” Jack barked.

“What? No hello? No thank you?” Colton laughed.

“I’d have thought that my little fireworks display was ‘thank you’ enough,” Jack snickered.

Colton let out an extremely amused laugh before he slapped Jack on the back and watched as the last boat was hoisted up before they set sail.

“Thanks,” Jack added.

“You’d’ve done the same for me. Plus, I know you do all this for your family. And, you know that I do this for the thrill, and our companionship. Not to mention, you nearly had me jump out of my boots when that fort blew!” Colton replied.

“Captain! Course set for Bermuda. We’ll be there in almost three days. It’s nice to see you in one piece, Captain Dusk,” a crewmate reported.

“Aye. Send the injured below decks to be treated with some of the medicine Jack taught us how to make. And stitch up anything that shouldn’t be open,” Colton ordered.

The crewmate ran to the steps to below decks after shouting for the injured to move there.

“Only three men lost Captain. Others will survive, just a few holes in a few places,” another crewmate informed, before running off.

“You sure you don’t want some rum? I mean, you just blew up an entire fort and escaped unscathed. You’re a legend once news gets out,” Colton questioned.

“None, thank you. I just hope to get to my family faster. Hopefully, we’ll catch up to them soon,” Jack brooded.

“Cheer up man. You family’s safe and you made it out of something few have ever achieved. We’ll get to them soon. If we’re lucky, and the tides might help us come within sight. For the sake of safety, let’s keep sailing until tomorrow and try to signal them if we manage to catch up. I’ll wake you the minute I see The Jackal’s sails,” Colton responded.

“Thanks. I’ll see what I can do for the injured,” Jack smiled before dropping below decks.

Colton smirked before looking out over the horizon and moving up to the wheel while barking a few more orders.
