Chapter 67 The Proposal

ton, on the other hand, was too preoccupied with wooing his first crush, the one he held dear in his heart, to even consider Francesca’s feelings.

After much difficulty, Cynthia had finally managed to extricate herself. Yet, he was shamelessly refusing to let go, persistently entangling himself in her life again.

He was just making idle threats. There’s no need to take it to heart,” Cynthia said, worried that Yoel might do something drastic. She quickly added, “All I want now is to get as far away from him as possible.”

As long as she didn’t meet with Colton again, he wouldn’t harbor any doubts about the child. Especially after the birth of Elsa’s child, Colton’s attention would naturally shift to their own child.

No sooner had her words faded than Yoel shared a piece of news with her. The child that Elsa had been carrying was already gone.

“What? How is that even possible?” Cynthia looked at Yoel incredulously. “Wasn’t she perfectly fine before?

Yoel shook his head. “I’m not entirely sure about the details,” he said. “All I know is that Elsa has lost her baby.”

Cynthia had just managed to calm her racing heart when it suddenly leaped into her throat. again. Before she could even utter a word, Yoel from across her proposed, “How about we get engaged?”

“What?” In that fleeting moment, Cynthia thought she was experiencing auditory. hallucinations.

A flicker of surprise flashed in Yoel’s eyes. He hadn’t expected that he would voice out the thoughts that had been lingering in his mind for days.

But when everything was finally said and out in the open, he surprisingly felt a wave of relief wash over him.

“Actually, this idea has been swirling around in my mind for quite some time. Look, I’m Lukas and Luna’s godfather, and you know me well. Now, you need someone to shield you from Colton, and aren’t I just the right person for that? Moreover, now that Colton knows about the children, do you think he would let you off easily? Once he discovers the identities of Lukas and Luna, he will undoubtedly do everything in his power to take the children away.” Yoel earnestly advised Cynthia, “The best course of action would be for us to host an engagement banquet and publicly announce the identities of the two children,” he said.

No. Cynthia rejected him without hesitation. The rumors you’ve spread before have already put you at a disadvantage. I can’t exploit your feelings for me to achieve my own goals.

Yoel had no qualms about saying, “I’ve told you before. I’m always ready for you to take advantage of my feelings. What’s wrong with that?”

Cynthia was well aware that Yoel’s approach could indeed solve everything once and for all. Yet, she still chose to reject Yoel. “Accepting your kindness with ulterior motives was already pushing my limits. Now, to exploit you by burdening you with these baseless accusations, even if you don’t mind, I do.”

Cynthia’s demeanor was incredibly earnest, which allowed Yoel to see her determination. “I’ll say it again, no matter the time or place, if you wish, I’ll always be the father of our children.”

Cynthia looked at him, deeply moved. But before she could even speak, Yoel interrupted her, “I’ve told you before, there’s no need to thank me.”

Yoel had suspected all along that Cynthia wouldn’t easily agree with him. He had merely suggested it in the spirit of giving it a shot, so he wasn’t surprised when he was rejected.

He then laughed at himself and said, “I never thought that my first marriage proposal would be under such circumstances. Not only did I have nothing to offer, but I was also rejected. It’s truly embarrassing.”

Just as Cynthia was about to speak, Yoel interrupted her, “I understand what you’re trying to say. There’s no need to apologize. But why are you so naive? You’re practically begging to be taken advantage of, and you don’t even realize it.”

Cynthia gave a small laugh, but she didn’t say anything.

If Yoel’s goal was merely to gain an advantage, she could have easily played along, creating a win–win situation. But what Yoel offered was his genuine feelings. Until she could confirm that she could reciprocate his feelings, she wouldn’t and couldn’t hastily agree to his request.

Yoel understood Cynthia’s thoughts and feelings. He didn’t feel wrong, but continued to smile and said, “If you feel indebted, how about compensating me with a proper date?”

Cynthia glanced at him, nodding in agreement.
