Denying The Alpha
Chapter 109

Faith

pov.

"I can't even tell you how excited I am to be going home." I gushed in nervous anticipation. I can't explain why I'm nervous maybe it's because I didn't feel like I was the same person I was when I left. Or maybe I was afraid the pack might see me differently now. "You don't need to feel anxious." Kyle squeezed my hand as we walked across the grounds. He must be able to feel my heightened emotions coursing through our mate bond.

"I don't?" I said feeling doubtful. I'm sure there had to have been all sorts of rumours spreading about my return.

"No. We are all just happy to have you back. No one thinks any differently of you." Kyle did his best to assure me.

But my attention had quickly drifted elsewhere.

"What the heck is that." I squealed excitedly as Kyle and I walked across the grounds towards the pack house.

"Oh my Gosh," Felicity exclaimed as she sprang apart from David. I have never seen either of them so red in the face before.

"I'm sorry we didn't see you coming." My friend blushed.

"Surprise" Kyle chuckled and waggled his eyebrows at me.

"Wait what?" I asked puzzled but still extremely happy for them.

"I'm David's Second chance mate," Felicity announced proudly as she slipped her hand in his and smiled up at him.

"No way." I hugged her. "No way," I said again because I just couldn't believe it.

"I know right? I couldn't believe it either at first but we are really happy." Felicity gushed.

"I'll say." I looked at Felicity knowingly. Who knows where that kiss was going but my money was in straight to the bedroom.

David looked as healthy and as happy as he did the first day that I met him. Actually, he looked better than he did even then.

I was relieved of course to see that after all he had been through, he was okay.

"Oh, you guys that's such great news" I gushed and hugged them both. Finally something positive.

"I have seen you fight. You'll make an excellent beta female." I was just so excited for them. Also, I was glad that we didn't have to risk allowing anyone else into the pack right now. I know I can't be suspicious of everyone forever, but for now, I would feel a hell of a lot better if no new wolves came lurking about. And I would never trust another witch again for as long as I lived.

"Second Chance mates are a lot better than fated mates." I joked with David. I hoped it wasn't a touchy subject, because if it was I sure just put my foot in it.

"They sure are." he agreed and his eyes twinkled as he smiled at Felicity.

Oh good, I thought, he took the joke well.

"Hear that Felicity, they think we're better than what fate had planned for them." Kyle puffed out his chest proudly.

"And we will never let them forget it." Felicity couldn't wipe the smile from her face.

"By the way. It's good to have you back on your feet. The whole pack was so worried about you. I'm sorry that I haven't been in to visit you yet. I should have, but when I got home I was a wreck and then Felicity found me. I was so wrapped up in my own pity party to pick up her scent when I got home. But luckily she found me. I have just been marvelling at the gift the moon goddess gave me since but it's no excuse. I am your Beta and I should have visited you." David had no reason to explain himself. I wasn't the sun moon and stars, I could easily understand not being a priority of his, especially at an exciting time like this.

"There is no need to apologise. You have had enough on your plate." I waved my hand as if to say, it's nothing.

"Have you marked each other yet?" I craned my head to look at the side of Felicity's neck, and sure enough there it was, David's mark.

"Are you kidding? Davids a catch. There was no way I was going to let some other girl come in and lick his wounds." Felicity said proudly.

"I know I said it already but honestly guys. I just cannot tell you how excited I am for both of you. Felicity, you deserve a good man, and I would be lying if I didn't say that I'm relieved no one can steal you away from us now. And David, I don't know why, you had to go through all that. I can't imagine how hard these months have been for you, but I am so so glad that at least one good thing had come from all of this. Can we celebrate over dinner tonight?"

It might seem like a weird time to come to celebrate anything, but I felt a need to cling to something good right now.

"We can't tonight. We have to get you home and settled and then the doctor still has to come and check on you." Kyle reminded me.

"Fine. Tomorrow night then?" I asked.

"Of course" Felicity promised me before either of our men could offer up a reason not to.

"Great I can't wait." I smiled.

"It was great to see you two but I would like to get Faith home now." Kyle shook Davids's hand and then Felicity's. I gave them both a quick hug and congratulated them one last time. "So that's what you were keeping from me." I nudged Kyle as we walked away.

"Yep. It's good news tho isn't it," he said genuinely.

"The best." I smiled. "Hopefully it's a good sign. A sign that good things are still to come."
