Destroyer -
Chapter 2
“Come on! Don’t tell me you're giving up now man?” Archie looked beside him as he ran through the forest in his human form. He held a smile on his face as he ran with his best friend.
“Doing this for five years now man, didn’t think you could quit on me!” Archie smiled and huffed. His head in the sky as the sun was going down.
Destroyer had a ran beside his master, or as he calls him now, his best friend and Alpha. It seemed as if five years had forged a stronger bond between the two. Almost everyone in his pack had known of Destroyer. His appearance had brought the worry to most of the mothers and they had always ordered to him never go near the children, most younger than 15 so they wouldn’t get traumatized or afraid of him.
’Haha! I can still go faster!’ The hound had thought to himself. They were racing from a highway all the way back to the pack grounds which had been miles upon miles. Destroyer pushed himself and ran passed his friend. He turned around and ran backward.
“Taunting me huh?!” Archie laughed and caught up to him.
“This is great, wanna take a break you might need it!” Destroyer jerked his head to the side and kept running. The past five years had helped Destroyer gain individuality and learn what true loyalty was. That humans and creatures live together even if some don’t know about it.
The ones on the surface aren’t the ones that people need to be afraid of, he only wished his brother and sisters could have seen what he has. He did learn that he was most likely the only that defied his masters, any others had been killed off.
When being ahead of him he slowed softly. Archie saw him, his snout in the air and hearing his growl. Archie soon slowed to a stop beside him and tried to replace whatever he was growling at.
“Find it, boy, I’ll follow.” Destroyer nodded and ran off to the right with Archie in tow. Growls had come to his ears, but they were miles from where the actual growling was. As they ran they had soon shown up to a couple of rogues who were surrounding another. They were dark brown all the way to a reddish color. The one in the middle had been a blonde golden color.
Destroyer looked at his friend and he nodded. He would go in first and give them a warning, while Archie would sneak behind and snatch them and to make sure there were no more around the perimeter. Only three surrounded the other wolf who smelled to be a female.
A snarl came to destroyers lips as he slowly made his way to the small ground. The wolves heads turned and their eyes widened in shock. The biggest advantage of having a hellhound was the fact it could distract other wolves that had never seen one and that was most of the world’s population.
He snarled and snapped at the wolves. They thought they had numbers and moved forward on the hellhound, it seemed as if they thought they could take him out. The hound dug his paws into the ground and a big black wolf jumped into the fight and took out one of the wolves. While they had been distracted by the side attack, Destroyer leaped at two of them and began to fight them.
They didn’t kill the three rogues but had sent them running off, leaving one of them hurt and unconscious. Archie came from the side dragging one of the wolves to them and they both turned to the light wolf, her leg was caught in a trap and she was trying to get out. When Archie came out she looked at Destroyer and growled at him.
Destroyer looked at Archie and he dropped the wolf and walked towards the female. As they both looked at each other a pause happened. Destroyer didn’t understand what was going on but stepped back as his friend walked to the female wolf. Archie looked at the female and got so close to her that his snout touched hers.
Archies body began to shift and he ended up on his knee in front of her and his hands on her cheeks.
“Shift...when I say. I’m getting this thing off of you.” He stated softly and shifted to her leg to take off the bear trap that was clamped onto her leg.
“Ready?” He asked and she seemed to nod. The female looked to Destroyer and snarled at him.
“Don't worry, he's okay he won’t hurt you. Get ready...One, two...three!” He gripped the trap and began to open it. Causing her to whine and then shift quickly sliding her leg out of the trap.
“Bullshit!” She yelled out and covered her chest and held her leg up against her. Archie widened his eyes when she yelled and threw the trap to the side.
“Sorry...um... I…” Archie looked around and furrowed his brows.
“Hey, we can...um…” Archie seemed to get a bit flustered and looked off to the side.
“Holy shit what the hell is that?” Destroyer came from the side and tilted his head. The girl furrowed her brows and began to push herself back.
“No, no don’t worry! He’s my friend. Don’t mind his look...he’s my friend. I..wait sorry. My names Archie. He's Destroyer.” Archie got closer to her.
“May i...you cant walk right now…” The girl looked at him and she stared. She slowly nodded and Archie reached for her and held onto her bridal style. She had blonde hair and tanned skin. As Archie held her he looked down to Destroyer.
“Lead the way…” He asked and Destroyer nodded and walked ahead of them. He didn’t understand what was going on at the moment but let his friend be with the woman.
’Alpha likes the woman...I have never seen him look at another like that.’ He spent the rest of the night leading them back to the pack. When being pulled up to it he decided to listen in on their conversation.
“Why were you being chased?” Archie had asked the woman. He had made sure to respect her and didn’t look at her body all the way, no matter how much he wanted to admire her in the full force of nakedness.
“I...was raised as a rogue and…” She stopped herself and balled her fist. The blonde had hesitated.
“I just didn’t agree with their ways anymore. Not growing up in a pack means no rules, no one cares about you or what happens to you. Its all for one and...one for all and living like that just wasn’t my style anymore. Something happened and that was it for me.” She told him and she seemed to sink into his arms.
“W-Well...you don’t have to anymore. I'm here..” Archie reassured her and nuzzled his face into her neck making her smile.
“You sure you should...well, let your Alpha know?” She asked while they made their way to his pack house.
“Well, considering you’re looking at him... I think he approves.” The female’s eyes widened and she smiled.
“That's awesome!” She almost jumped as she still was against him. He smiled and held her tightly. Destroyer placed his paws at the door and opened it. Silas was talking to a few others while the three of them entered.
“Holy shit...Archie...” Archie smiled and did a nervous shrug as he took her to his room. She needed some clothes and he had got her some. He had given some clothes that had been from a small donation to her. Archie stood pacing at the door when Destroyer walked up the stairs to him.
“Oh lord, hey buddy. You most likely don't know whats going on...but, I met my mate.” Destroyer looked up at him and nodded. He knew that mates where something that everyone has, humans may not have them like them but they had them if they could replace them.
“I want to say...before anything else happens that we may not be as...together as much?” He placed his hand onto Destroyers head. He knew that replaceing his mate would tear them apart just a bit. He wanted to make sure that he didn’t feel forgotten, considering what he had been through. The hound had understood his reasoning. Archie sucked in a breath and froze as his eyes glazed over.
Destroyer had passed his own emotions to Archie. He had felt a strong sense of protection, a need to always make Archie happy and support him. Being a best friend and a source of protection specifically for the both of them. Archie smiled and removed his hands.
“You really are a man’s best friend aren’t you?” As he said that, the woman exited out of his room.
“Ah, hello ...um…” He took a moment and glanced at Destroyer. He got behind his legs and pushed him towards her. Archie gulped and rubbed the back of his head.
“I never asked your name, Im...Archie?” He told her and she laughed.
“I know, you’ve told me. The names Charlie.” Destroyer held a smile in his head and walked to the end of the hall and watched them. Seeing him smile and talk with the woman he would now call Luna.
“So...that hound is your pet?” She asked him and glanced towards Destroyer. Archie looked at him and gave a nod.
“He’s not my pet, he’s my best friend. Of course, my beta, Silas is but Destroyer is my newest friend and has been beside me for almost five years now. Destroyer is a hellhound but he’s great.” She kept staring at him and turned her head to him.
“A...hellhound for a best friend. That’s new, does he sleep in the room with you?” She twisted her mouth and crossed her arms.
“Oh...sometimes. He likes to do patrol and he never really sleeps.” Archie felt a little worried that she didn’t like him.
“Could he, possibly not be in the room with us?” She asked seemingly innocently. His eyes widened.
“You want to share the same room? Now?” He asked and she nodded, placing her hand on his shirt. He clenched his jaw and turned to him. He then swiftly moved away from her than to him.
“Hey, buddy…” He got down on one knee and furrowed his brows. Destroyer moved his head up and down, already knowing what he was going to say. He didn’t want to push him away, but he didn’t want to go against the wishes of his mate. He just stared at his friend, seeing as he understood. Getting back up, he walked over to Charlie and sighed softly.
“He will at least stay by the door in the morning. He’s my wake up call.” He smiled and grabbed onto his mates hand and kissed it. He bowed his head and turned away from them. He was going to give them some privacy and walked down the stairs to the common area. Seeing Silas and a few others he walked to them. He also came to befriend Silas.
He had a mate and no children. Silas was a red-headed male with a fine build. He had always been going on patrol with Destroyer and would sometimes take his place so Silas could be with his mate. He saw him with his mate, then looked up at his Alphas stairwell. He slowly moved his way outside with others waving at the hound.
Going outside and sitting down at the egd of the forest, he seemed to just think about all the things he’s done seen in the past five years. He came to one conclusion, it would make his best friend happy and him.
’I must protect them all. No matter what.’ He sat down on his hind legs and tilted his snout in the air with his eyes closed. Knowing what he has to do now.
