Chapter 323 You’re Not in This Alone
Every word seemed carefully considered, and each sentence was designed to tear Chloe down.
Admas cleared his throat. “This has nothing to do with Chloe. It’s just a spat between the two of them.”
Victoria’s face hardened as Admas once again leaped to Chloe’s defense. “Dad, we’re all Shawns here. Don’t you think you’re playing favorites a bit?
“It’s one thing for everyone to tolerate Michael because he’s younger, but now Cathy’s taking the heat for someone else’s mess. If you keep siding with Michael, what kind of message does that send to the rest of the family?”
Chloe, sitting to the side, spoke up, “I’ll handle my own affairs.”
She stood up from the couch, speaking calmly, “I’ll replace out if this was Lucy’s doing, and I have evidence to refute her slander. This won’t implicate the Shawn family. As for Cathy’s issue, it has nothing to do with me.”
“How can you say Cathy’s situation has nothing to do with you? You are her cousin’s wife. How could you be like this?” Victoria felt uncomfortable upon hearing Chloe’s words.
If Lucy hadn’t deliberately targeted Chloe, her own daughter wouldn’t be caught in this mess.
“Has she ever truly treated me like family?” Chloe looked at Cathy, her tone still calm.
Both Victoria and Cathy were at a loss for words.
“I know the Shawns look down on me. For the sake of Grandpa, I could endure it. It didn’t matter how you looked at me, but now, I won’t let you over me any longer. Don’t impose your rules on me!” Chloe spoke firmly.
Even though she had always wanted to divorce Michael, she had never thought of completely falling out with the Shawns.
She had thought that since she was leaving anyway, they would just go their separate ways, and there was nothing more to say.
But now, she had changed her mind.
Michael was dragging his feet, unwilling to divorce, which would take at least another half a year.
If Chloe kept enduring it, she’d only make herself miserable. So, it was better to lay it all out and stop pretending.
If they couldn’t stand her, they could just gouge their
eyes out!
“Chloe, how do you plan to handle this?” Admas asked. He was still worried about Chloe and couldn’t help but ask.
Chloe smiled at him, “Grandpa, don’t worry about me. I can handle it.”
Admas laughed heartily. This was the Chloe he liked.
Back when Chloe endured everything for Michael, Admas also felt helpless.
He never thought Chloe needed to be the perfect wife or exceptionally understanding to become Michael’s wife.

What impressed Admas was her unwavering determination to secure treatment for Wendy and her cool composure in the face of those debt collectors.
“You’re not in this alone,” Michael said, rising to his feet. “I’ll hold a press conference later and clear your name. All those rumors are lies.”
Chloe was a bit stunned, wondering if he was holding a press conference for her.
As they left Shawn Manor, Chloe turned to look at Michael. “How do you plan to explain at the press conference?”
“I’ll tell the truth, saying that you and those two men are not involved in that way,” Michael replied.
“What about the note? You know Lucy wrote it. Are you still going to call her just a friend?”
